General "good news" thread

edited April 2010 in General Chat
Since there is a whining thread, seems only fair to have one to express one's good news.

You don't have to start with "good news, everyone!" but it helps futurama fans feel appreciated.

Good news, everyone! I received my crank mp3 player! Not only can it play music (and videos, and the radio) just from being cranked up, but I can now charge my ebook reader with it, too!

And I've been almost a year without an mp3 player so I really, really missed it.

Good news, everyone! (Dammit, I have to hear the original one someday)

I suddenly realized I could change my notebook for a new one when my intership is over. And this one will run Tales of Monkey Island in a quality over than 3! (Which is the one my actual one run it already) ^^!

    Good news, PC strategy gamers!

Firaxis has announced Civilization V! With expanded diplomacy, enhanced warfare, and HEXAGONAL TILES OH MY GOD.

The Civilization games are my most-played multiplayer titles, I can't wait for the next installment. :D

    Good news!

Got home and found my StarCraft 2 beta invite.
    My inbox is now gold.

Also has anyone seen the site http://itmademyday.com/ ? It's kind of the best thing. Though I submitted 2 (pretty awesome?) stories and I don't think they made it.

This is exactly what I came into this topic to do, immediately, and someone beat me to it.

Wait, that's not good news. That's not good news at all.

    Hey! I'll tell this one:

One day, somebody call me to tell me if I can go to an interview for an intership. I say yes, of course, and next day, my dad and me went to a place we have no idea that existed before. By sheer luck we find a parking lot, by sheer luck I found where I have the interview, by sheer luck we get a fast way to get back to my house, then I was accepted in the intership the same day!!!! And then I came to the internet and, guess what, It was Trogday!

I just passed Sam & Max: Reality 2.0 after a taking a long hiatus from it due to getting stuck and finding no inspiration to continue the worst S&M episode yet. But then I played it and passed the rest and now I'm happy that I can go on with Bright Side of the Moon!

Don't take it the wrong way. I still liked Reality 2.0, but there were some things about it that I just really didn't like.

I've resisted the urge to post this as long as I could...mostly because it will just leave everyone wanting more for four months. But I am weak, and I must do it.

    Good news, everyone!

    Good news, everyone!

I had taco for the first time today! I was tasty and messy.
I know, it must seem weird that I've never had it before, but Mexican food isn't as common in France where I grew up, and when I did eat Mexican it was chili or fajitas. (French "fajitas" are actually closer to burritos. I guess you're bound to get some things wrong when you're far from the country).

I also had a side or rice, corn and wheat with black beans, peppers and tomatoes cooked in wine. It was delicious.

(On the down side my mom-in-law forgot to give me her oat pie recipe again.)

    Good news everyone!

I finally got Office 2007, so my writing (well, fanfiction) will no longer be plagued by comma splices. (because the OpenOffice grammar checker is made of pure, unadulterated fail) I have a bad habit of using commas the same way I used glitter as a teenager, too much, too often and usually inappropriately. Those were the days.

Your 25, and just now had your first taco? Wow, you definetly get an applaud and a congratulations from me and a belated birthday too.

Only if they would give Karma or something like that I'd give you one for every day of the year.

What the hell is a taco?
  • edited February 2010
I'll make sure to try one next time i'm in the states. There are very few places that sell them over here.
  • edited February 2010
Wow! That long without a single taco. I can't even remember how much times i've eaten tacos. Congratulations!

    Good New Everyone,

I managed to get in an order of a Limited release S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider IXA on Hobby Link Japan before it went back to discontinued status and I found a good cheap copy of Star Trek Elite Force II to be sent to me in America from the UK since all the copies on Amazon are around $80 or higher in America.

    Good news, me!

Finally upgrading my video card next week! Radeon 4770. Still a budget card, but it can max out Crysis. :D (assuming my CPU and Nvidia-based mobo don't bottleneck it... but I doubt that'll happen.)

Niceee, I have a 4550 and it's a great wee card, it can play pretty much anything i've thrown at it (yeah i have to put Crysis on medium but Crysis sucked anyways :p) so with the 4770 you'll be sitting pretty ;)

Yeah, I'm still stunned that the card is only $100 (USD), and it's more or less equivalent to an 8800 GTX. Not only that, but it draws so little power and creates so little heat that you can overclock the living daylights out of it without extra cooling.

At the risk of sounding like a shill for ATi, I highly recommend giving it a look for anybody who needs a cheap yet powerful card. It'll even max out GTAIV (probably the most demanding PC game out right now), if you don't mind it being a bit jerky.
