Falanca got a good point there. I trust TTG enough to believe that they will blow me away. Point-and-click(-and,-well,-push-some-arrow-keys-from-time-to-time)-style, that is.
Also, the more that I think about it, BTTF is an absolutely logic choice for point and click. Their fanbase will love this. And as for Jurassic Park, I wonder how they are going to make it. Not in the way that I wonder whether Switzerland will win the world cup, but in the way I wonder how House will solve the case, for he will.
Indeed, ToMI was a fun game once TTG got into their stride, and we have two special editions of the early games (the second of which isn't even released yet).
I think if TTG go off and do two game-series with Universal it'll be a good thing for any second MI series that might come about, as TTG really only stands to gain from those franchises.
Dan Conners would love to see multiple series running together at the same time. We're probably not there yet, but it could be someday soon. Imagine a world where several new adventure games come out every month - titles from Universal, Lucas Arts, TTG original pilots, etc. We'll be saying, "You guys remember when we thought adventure games were dead? Those were scary times..."
I'm glad actually. If a MI Season 2 was announced it'd be great, sure, but so soon? It definetly wouldn't be as special.
Considering how popular Tales was, I'm sure they'll go back to it eventually. But I definitely agree with this, I was waiting for a MI5 for years. It got to the point where we all thought it would never happen. When Telltale finally announced they were doing it, it was amazing.
I certainly don't want to see it turn into another yearly gaming franchise we see all too often. Tales was perfect in almost every way, I'm fine waiting another few years for a sequel to it and in the meantime having Telltale branch out into other franchises.

Super excited about BttF and Jurrassic Park
This just sounds crazy to me.
If Telltale could release new seasons of Monkey Island every year as good as Tales you actually don't want them too? I don't get this sort of thinking at all.
Sure the release of Tales was special because of all the waiting, but you actually don't want a new game as soon as possible?
This just sound as if you're forcefully making the release of a new season special by having it take years til it gets out. The games should be special because they're great games, not because they took years to get made.
1. It's not entirely dependent on Telltale. If LucasArts decides not to give up the license again for whatever reason, Telltale's out of luck if they want to do another Monkey Island game.
This.
....is why I'm not expecting Season 2. It's up to LA.
That said, if LA themselves decided to pick up where TT left off with the series, I would have nothing against that.
I think it would be better if LA made the next game because Telltale is doing The Devils playhouse, Puzzle agent, Back to the future and Jurassic Park all at the same time. LA could spend more time on it then worrying about other games.

I like this comment.
It's an exciting prospect, what Thriftweed is talking about here. We never used to get more than one episode a month. Each month, we'd all anticipate the release of one episode, and everything in the forums was focused and centred around it. Then when the episode finally arrived, it was the most exciting thing experienced during the entire month!
It would be great to get that feeling multiple times a month, just as long as episodes aren't released so often that the novelty wears off - but I doubt this would even be possible, because it would be far too difficult to even release more than three episodes per month, and it would always be a special thing no matter what.
I still would be upset to see a new Monkey Island game from LucasArts. They still haven't proven themselves either way on adventure games. If the new LucasArts can release a brand new adventure game that's as brilliant as their old work and the Telltale games, then I'll feel safe about Monkey Island being in their hands. Until then, I'm hoping for either another Telltale license or nothing at all.
The people Working at Lucas Arts now said that they grew up playing the adventure games Lucas Arts used to make. So if the Lucas Arts were to make another Monkey Island game i wouldn't worry to much because i know it will be good.
That's like saying that you'd trust someone who grew up reading Harry Potter to write a novel set in the Potterverse that's equal or superior to Rowling's writings. Yeah, it's possible (as several fanfics of surprising quality have proven), but it's also likely that you'll end up with poorly written fanfiction. Yes, it's entirely possible that they're capable of producing an amazing quality Monkey Island game, but it's equally possible that they're not. They haven't proven their ability to create adventure games in either direction, and just being fans of the original games doesn't automatically prove that capability. LucasArts currently has a blank record, one that could go either way should they start making adventure games again, and I don't want their first outing with the new staff to be Monkey Island.
No surprise... its nothing new to the typical MI fan to have to sit, wait, and hope...
Such a true statement. I feel like waiting for the next Monkey Island game is part of the adventure. Without at least 2 years of anticipation, theorizing, and the overall paranoia that the cliffhanger I last played was the last I'll see of the game's story, I wouldn't be ready for another MI.
I'm not too worried. I think it's great that Telltale is getting popular licenses. And who know, maybe they'll make an amazing JP or BTTF adventure game and get a whole new audience interested in the genre, so it becomes mainstream again. But whether Telltale makes a season two or not, I am confident the MI story will continue.

This is what I think...I am predicting a new season of Monkey Island next year.
They are advertising that they will be releasing those NBC licensed games in Winter...so I am guessing that since Sam n Max is being released now, Tales will be in the Summer/Fall of next year.
With all the hoopla and MI fans that came over, I seriously doubt Tales is finished...
Perhaps though I am wrong and they may complete it earlier with their infusions of new cash...;)
I don´t think Telltale will forget and put aside the franchises that have led them to where they are now, but they are a company and have to think about how to expand and gain new markets. These new licenses, JP BTTF are better known and they will attract a greater number of people.
I'm also concerned that taking on mainstream licenses will cause TTG to start neglecting the smaller ones for being less profitable... However, it's TTG and I'm hopeful that they won't let us down...
As for a new MI by LucasArts... Right now: NO!!!! LucasArts is now an entirely different company (all the staff from the old adventure game days are gone), so the only thing they have in commom is the name (LucasArts)... It's like saying: "It would be great to have a MI game from Valve!" "or an MI game from Ubisoft"... They're not the same company... And I would like to see a new-license adventure game coming from LA to see if they have what it takes to make a Monkey Island game properly... Right now it's either an MI from TTG, or better leave it untouched...

I could see TMI 2 being announced with the first episode coming out around September.
I mean, they announced and released TMI in just over a month's time, it wouldn't be unheard of. Plus, with MISE 2 coming out just around the corner, it'd be a good way to keep the monkey money rolling.
Speaking of which... Does anyone know where/what Ron is doing? Whose to say he's not at Lucas Arts right now, working on the next Monkey Island? I honestly think he and Lucas Arts will seize the opportunity to make mad money on the franchise while it's hot. Good, bad, or indifferent, no matter how you feel about such a situation, you have to admit it's a fair possibility.
Yeah, I just doubt that Telltale would announce another game while they're half-way through 'Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse', with 'Puzzle Agent' due for release within the month, and 'Jurassic Park' and 'Back to the Future' just on the horizon. Not only would Telltale want to focus on promoting their current projects, but they would be physically unable to take on another new project.

the thing i love about telltale is that the are always bringing us new games, with just a few months break max between games.
Telltale Texas Hold'em (2005)
Bone: Out from Boneville (2005)
CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder (2006)

Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space (Nov 2007–April 2008, 5 Episodes)
Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People (Aug-Dec 2008, 5 Episodes)
Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures (Mar-Jul 2009, 4 Episodes)
Tales of Monkey Island (Jul-Dec 2009, 5 Episodes)
CSI: Deadly Intent (2009)
Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse (April 2010)
Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent (June 2010)
Untitled Jurassic Park episodic game (Winter 2010)
Untitled Back to the Future episodic game (Winter 2010)
Season 2 will happen! This is Telltale games biggest success yet... so i FEEL that there will another season or two ^^ Also, if there were sold enough copies of the Monkey Island remake, there were som talk about maybe making another game... Who knows? It took us 9 years to get Tales... so everything less than that would be great ^^

I totally agree! I just hope the Future and Jurassic games will be as good! But Telltale has never failed me before!

I updated this to more accurately reflect their ridiculous constant workload.
Feel free to further update it if I missed something.
I have made a massive list detailing all of the individual episode release dates, DVD release dates, and port release dates. If you'd like to read it, click here to do so.
Here is a number summary of the total number of items counted in the list, by year:
The 2010 number is including every port of Puzzle Agent, as well as The Devil's Playhouse, under the assumption that they will all be finished by the end of the year, however, it does NOT count BttF or JP at all.
If you're too lazy to bother reading, I've made a visual representation of their release schedule. Stars are release dates, stars with dots on them are days in which there were multiple releases.
Comments
They won't.
Wait there's a chance telltale could make a Back to the Future Adventure game? That's awesome! I'll believe it when I see it but it's still neat.
After 10 years.
And we're complaining that it might be more than a year and a half before a new one is made?
My, the Internet is hilarious.
Hell, for all we know LA will make a new MI game.
Also, I still think a GOOD game for Back to the Future is like the best announcement ever!
Also, the more that I think about it, BTTF is an absolutely logic choice for point and click. Their fanbase will love this. And as for Jurassic Park, I wonder how they are going to make it. exactly. It doesn't matter who makes it as long as Gilbert helps with it.
