What character voice-overs are you most looking forward to for MI2 SE?

Just so the remastered music thread doesn't get too messy, I've decided to make this a seperate thread. So, what voice-overs are you most looking forward to. Personally, my choice of music pretty much goes with the voice-acting, as I am looking forward to the bone song played and sung, and I am excited for the captain dread theme, and I want to hear his voice As for woodtick, I guess I want to hear more of largo's voice, and see how Mad Marty sounds.

I can't wait to hear Wally again after all these years! And the love dialogue between Guybrush and Elaine!

Hmmm... I'm curious regarding Guybrush's parents too! Small but VERY important roles!

I can't wait to hear, Rapp Scallion, and Charles.

Oh yeah! I love that little guy. As for Guybrush's parents, I have suspicions its Dominic Armato and Alexandra Boyd putting on older voices. Knowing me though, I'm probably wrong.

Can't wait to hear Dominique's great work again, that man is just a pro at giving Guybrush the personality he deserves.
Others I can't wait to hear is Wally, Kate Capsize, and the Governor(?) of Phatt Island. And for some strange reason, the man who sticks his arm out the door. :p

Actually, a lot of the voices feel kind of odd coming out of the original game characters. I think Elaine's is the one that comes off the best, and I'm wondering how the parents/skeletons will be done voice-over wise.

Hoping for an epic bone song !

    Also looking forward Wally's voice...

Well, apart from all the characters we already know and love, I'm looking forward to Kate Capsize, Rum Rogers Jr., Rapp Scallion and all the people in Woodtick, particularly the Barkeep and Mad Marty.

After hearing your version of Lechuck's theme, I would be interested to see what your interpretation of the bone song is like.

I'm hoping Kevin Blackton (TMI LeChuck) and Charity James (EFMI Elaine) as Guybrush's parents.
Very glad LucasArts convinced Neil Ross to return as Wally, looking forward to talking with him again. I previously wanted Nicki Rapp to voice Kate Capsize, and Kate's voice in the behind the scenes video sounds near enough to Nicki's voice for me.
    :)

The voice acting sounds pretty much spot on in this game, not to mention this sounds like it may be the best performances yet from Dom, Earl and Alexandra.

I've always been curious about the campfire songs, and especially how they they plan to deal with the '10,000 bottles of beer on the wall' issue. I hope they don't just cut it out.

I'm looking forward to every single LeChuck line :)

    And the Bone Song...

And of course everything Dom says.

So far, I've tried _not_ to look at too many spoiler vids on YouTube; but the ones I saw mostly had LeChuck in it. I was amazed at the quality of his performance. It feels to me like he really appreciates that his fans insisted on having him back for (yet another) time as LeChuck and he did an outstanding job for us to enjoy. That's why I'm looking forward to his lines especially (it's "LeChuck's Revenge" after all).

That, and because I'm always looking forward to the villain's perfomance in a game.

You know what would be good? If we could get an interview with Earl Boen! We know how both Dom and Alexandra feel about their part in these games but we've never heard what Earl thinks, and considering he's pretty much one of the main characters, who even got dragged back for Tales after an attempt was made to replace him, it would be interesting to hear his side and what he thinks of the role!

I always enjoy Armato's work... and I can never get enough of Earl Boen's voice (he is voicing LeChuck again, right?)

I'm looking forward to the best voice-over of all. Not Largo. Where I pretend Largo has a better voice actor that sounds how I always imagined him. Like Moe from the Three Stooges.

    PSYCH!

I'm actually looking forward to Largo the most. I like who they got. Even if it's not Moe Howard.

That's a good point! Anyone planning on doing that anytime soon?

Do we have a list of voice actors who're going to work on this game?
  • edited July 2010
Hmm, let's see, so far we've got:

    DEFINATELY:
    Dominic Armato - Guybrush Threepwood
    Earl Boen - LeChuck
    Alexandra Boyd - Elaine Marley
Lelani Jones Wilmore - The Voodoo Lady
    Patrick Pinney - Stan
    Jarion Monroe - Largo LaGrande
    Neil Ross - Wally
    Phil LaMarr - Captain Dread
Wally Wingert - Herman Toothrot/Franklin, Man of Low Moral Fiber
William Katsen - Booty Island Antique Dealer
Roger L. Jackson - Governer Phatt/Fink/Freddie, Man of Low Moral Fiber/Jojo The Monkey/Rat?
    Denny Delk - Narrator

    PRESUMABLEY/POSSIBLY:
Patrick Hallahan - Phineas, Man of Low Moral Fiber
    Nicki Rapp - Kate Capsize

    Nicki Rapp - Kate Capsize

    Huh?
  • edited July 2010
    Patrick Pinney - Stan

Now was this the guy who voiced stan in curse and secret se the guy who voiced stan in escape or the guy who voiced sam in Tales(he had a lot of voice actors and none of them even sounded a like)
  • edited July 2010
Sorry for the confusion! That's just what I'm hoping for! :o
The V/A in the behind the scenes sounds close enough to her, plus Kate Capsize was a strong candidate for the mystery character at the end of TMI-1. I'd love it to be her.

And yeah, Patrick Pinney is the voice of Stan in SMI:SE and Curse.

Just realised that now all of the voices from SMI:SE to CMI have the same cast. That's pretty impressive given that MI2 and CMI are 13 years apart. And done backwards!
  • edited July 2010
Hopefully Pat will have some better direction this time, The gaps and long text of Stan in Secret really didn't allow him to portray the lines like he did in Curse.

The one big problem I had with the first special edition was the voice of the narrator. It really broke up the mood of the game and made it very corny, like he was doing it for Saturday morning cartoon, "Meanwhile at the villain's top secret lair of evil." I was expecting something a little grimmer since the meanwhile is a ghost pirate ship anchored in the realms of Hell with dozens of crewmembers that were slaughtered by a demonic ghost pirate. I hope that it’s not the case with this one as well or it’s really going to get annoying at the fortress scenes.

I'm really looking forward to hearing Wally. And of course Dominic Armato is terrific and it's always a treat to hear his work.

I agree about the narration. I'm a fan of Denny Delk's work, but the concept of having the narrative text read aloud is a mistake, I think. Simply displaying it on screen lets you get exposition without breaking the fourth wall. Disembodied narrator in Monkey Island context reminds me somehow of the Peter Falk/Fred Savage scenes in The Princess Bride.

Actually, I felt similar. I didn't find Denny Delk's voice a perfect match for a narrator (or maybe the voice itself was okay but the intonation was sometimes off...)

I think it was a combination of both. He said the lines way too dramatically and I also don't believe his voice was the right choice. Even if he didn't say them as dramatically I still can't picture how it would sound if tried to make it spookier, I think it would still be off. I think Craig Derrick even made a comment in an interview once for the second special edition that no one really liked the voice at all, so why they got the same guy is a little confusing. Anyway, that's really just me nitpicking and really doesn't bother me too much. It's the only real thing I could find that I didn't like from the first one.

The narrator does seem toned down in MI2 though. His delivery of "Deep in the Caribbean. Scabb Island" isn't as over the top as his lines in MI1, where every line was just said dramatically for the sake of it i.e. "...in a rrriver of lllllavaaaaaaa!!!" or "...and drrop anchorrrrrrr.....".
  • edited July 2010
Oh, that's a relief to hear. I never heard his voice in any of the previews except for one, but his voice got cut out so I wasn't able to hear enough to actually form an opinion.
  • edited July 2010
Thanks a lot. I think his "Deep in the Caribbean is good", but "Scabb Island" sounds pretty bad. Ah well, either way the game will be great.

"Scabb Island" really sounds bad. It sounds like: "Oh, I got a line! I got a line! I have to make it sound special and different, no matter what!"

You don't think Allison Ewing would do the Voodoo Lady, or that Gavin Hammond (sp?) would do Stan again?
  • edited July 2010
Well most of the names in that list are who we know for a fact is back. Lelani Jones was confirmed by Derrick in an interview a while back, and both voices can be heard in the making of video.

As far as I know, Ewing was only the Voodoo Lady in Tales because a: Telltale could not afford Lelani Jones, or b: Lelani Jones did not want to commit to recording monthly. Ewing worked as the Voodoo Lady in Tales, but I'm sure they wouldn't have used her if they had the chance to use the original actress, for continuity's sake. Same principle with Stan, Patrick Pinney has an impressive resume (notabley being the singer of the "Spongebob Squarepants" theme song!), so he was likely out of the budget that Telltale were willing to work with, but still, Gavin did a great job all the same. (Just finished playing TMI4 this second, so these voices are fresh in mind! :) )
