That's not bad, but I don't know if Admiral Piett and Rogue 2 should be more prominently displayed then Han Solo, lol.

Man oh man can't wait to get my hands on this and even sooner. LORD OF THE RINGS EXTENDED EDITION BLU RAY! HELL YEAH! You see lord of the rings extended edition (unlike the special edition versions of star wars) has scenes that actually make the movie more interesting.

I thought they had shown EVERY SINGLE SCENE their cameras managed to shoot before malfunctioning in those borefestical extended releases.

hey lord of the rings is not just a movie. Its an epic! Its what the star wars prequels could have been if they had been directed by the right person

Yes, it was originally a thicker-than-brick book.

Yes, it's an epic story from which nearly all fantasy-related stories draw some (perhaps large) measure of inspiration.

I'm not sure why you're hating on the Lord of the Rings books just because you can't take the time to sit down and read them.

Nah, I'm not hating on whether the contents of the length of the book, it was a cheap throwaway post of mine, looked good as a response at first. I'm not deep into Lord of the Rings franchise, just watched the movies. Really, the only point I'm trying to make here is the extended versions being too extended.

I'm all for the 'May the Fourth be with you!' and all that.. but the announcement was really really lame.

The reason why the extended version exist is for fans of the books. The books are fairly long and detailed, so the extended editions exist to flesh out that detail more in the movies than had been in the theatrical version.

Granted, that doesn't stop them from ruining Faramir's character, but there we are.

I went up to Walmart, the DVDs don't come out until September! What was this ad for? I too am now a little confused. It was just a holiday count down?

Anyways, guys, girls, it's been so hard lately, I've been through so much. Black eye, college, might loose my license, might get fired...

I believe the countdown was for more info on the features of the Blu-Rays. I think I summarised the important info at the bottom of page 2 of this very thread, but by all means head to the Star Wars site to find out the exact details.

Your life sounds pretty rough ATM. Hope things pick up for you soon.

Uh-oh, rant topic. Gotta get out of here before I clobber Peter Jackson.

I'd choose Bad Taste and Braindead (aka Dead Alive) over Lord of the Rings and King Kong any day of the week...

If you've got good taste in comical horror, then you'll love "Bad Taste".

Finding a screenshot from "Braindead" that's clear of all crimson liquid was no easy task!

INTERESTING MOVIE TRIVIA FACT OF THE DAY: During Peter Jackson's "King Kong", there's a crate in the ship's hold marked as 'Sumatran Rat Monkey'; which is the same critter seen in Braindead (and in the above screenshot). Also of note is that the stop-motion beast comes from Skull Island, which is where the beginning of "Braindead" takes place and is also the same Island where King Kong resides.

...I'd also choose Enemy Mine over Star Wars any day of the week, Blu-Ray or otherwise.

Notice how I seamlessly got back on topic.

Davies, I went from thinking you were a quiet genius to a genius who is also quite obviously one of the weirdest posters. I just glance over some of your posts and I think to myself, whoa....

chyron you should check out the lord of the rings purist edition fan edit. Its the extended edition with parts edited out that are not in the book. Tree beard doesn't hesitate to take merry and pippin to Isengard The elves aren't at helms deep, Faramir is a jerk, etc
