    Why?

Frankly I don't like every version of Scooby-doo, but I've liked some of them, and that's enough that I'm glad that they keep it alive through the years. If they want to try something like that with the Flintstones, I think it's worth a shot, and McFarlane isn't the worst guy they could have given it to. It'll be interesting to see how it fares.

No, that would've been Parker and Stone... but McFarlane is a close second(/third).

    Okay...

    STEP 1: Pick up soap.

STEP 2: Insert soap within mouth.

    STEP 3: Rinse and repeat.

I loved Scrappy Doo and Scooby Dum. The red shirt Shaggy series and films were the best ones except for Zombie Island.

Zombie Island was a prime part of my childhood, man, I remember watching that and getting freaked out at the Cat woman scenes. There was also one part in a scooby doo show episode, vampire bats and scaredy cats, where scooby would always do this vampire face, it haunted my nightmares. Along with that there was always BTAS, Jonny Quest (Hanna Barbara in general), Johnny Bravo (when Seth wasn't doing Family Guy), Spider man, Toonami, etc, 80s and 90s ftw. Hell I haven't even turned on Cartoon Network or Nick in years because of how shit they are (although new ATHF episodes sound awesome). I could rant for a while, and I'm getting off topic here, so my opinion...

I think that if Seth takes more of a Johnny Bravo approach, less of a shock value, it would be better, it's not like he can;t do that humor, Johnny Bravo was a funny show, it was balanced with risqué moments for adults, and goofy jokes for kids, that sounds like the perfect thing for this reboot. However, if I see any blatant sex jokes or w/e, I think I'll grab a shovel and go find out if Hanna and Barbara are rolling around in their graves.

I don't care about either franchises, so whatever. I always liked Jetsons more, and we already have Futurama, so Seth MacFarlane can reboot Jetsons as well for all I care.

Just get John K to do the reboot over Seth. Seth is just doing this as a stunt to make more money.

One: I'm not sure if John K would do any better than Seth MacFarlane. While John K's animation is great, his writing, especially for adult-oriented projects, is... not. At least Family Guy manages to make me chuckle sometimes. Ren and Stimpy: APC was just bad.

Two: While I still believe Seth MacFarlane doing this is a bad idea, I don't think he's only in it for the money. I remember hearing once that The Flintstones was one of his early inspirations to go into animation, so at least he's probably gonna put some effort into it.

I will give it exactly one chance... and the first out of character fart joke or the equivalent and I am out... Flintstones are the granddaddy of all primetime toons and it deserves a little respect.

haha John K. the guy who said "I always thought that people who couldn't draw, were mildly retarded". He's not really a follower...which is why he kind of disappeared(and was booted off his own show).

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have more intelligence, creativity, and wit in their TOENAIL CLIPPINGS than Seth MacFarlane can muster with an entire creative staff on his best day.

The Family guy staff can get real creative..It just depends on which idea ball they pick.

Probably true...I honestly stopped watching both shows long ago. Plus Seth is kind of white trash. I just think they'd be less suited for the flintstones though.

John had a few posts that talked about a few pitches with Hanna-Barbara. One of them that interested me was with it had a character from one certain episode of the flinstones, and he talked about how he pitched it as a film noir inspired series. Although, I think he may have removed this post since I cannot find it.

It wasn't THAT bad. The episodes I enjoyed from that were Naked Beach Frenzy, Ren Seeks Help, and Fire Dogs II. Spike was a bit hypocritical on certain aspects on APC. They didn't air Naked Beach Frenzy due to the "incident" at the superbowl. I even heard that they forced John to make APC on the lines of Family guy and South park's humor, which I can imagine that John didn't wanted APC to have that kind of adult humor.

Either that, or Seth is lying to the press.

I get it, you've been watching way too much Seth MacFarlane shows. But see, here's the thing. MOST people working in the creative industries don't run like this:

In fact, people are generally allowed to, you know, differentiate their works in some discernible way.

Yeah, but the kind of adult humor APC had was nothing but vulgarity and violence, isn't it? When I saw some episodes, they're basically Ren and Stimpy episodes but with swearing, crude humor and Ren being even more violent than usual. It sorta feels like John K thinks that 'adult humor' simply means boobs and frog-torture.

I dunno, the original Ren and Stimpy and Ripping Friends was the last time I enjoyed something from John K. I didn't really like his Yogi Bear stuff. For me, I'd rather see a Flintstones reboot from Genndy Tartakovsky.

^ Tredlow, basically of all of John's work from spumco have been hacked by the braindead people from the studios. There was this old magazine(I dont remember the name) that it talked about the Ripping Friends was planned out as an animated feature for adults. In the end, it got screwed to the point of being a children's cartoon.

Although since you mention Genndy, have you seen The Flintstones on the rocks? Last time I watched it, I think some of the people who worked with genndy worked on this.

That's actually the best suggestion I've seen so far. He's done stuff in a few different styles and I think that could work really well. Haven't seen very much from him lately, I wonder what he's up to.

They should have him reboot the Jetsons. So then he could make up funny technology stuff again

Yeah, but I liked RF. I know I liked the original Ren and Stimpy (which also got hacked) because I was younger back then, but I recently watched an episode of Ripping Friends and still thought it was pretty good. I guess it's just my own taste, but APC was John K's most famous project where he had complete control, and I didn't like it! I know, APC is not the worst thing in the world, but for me, it's far below average.

Yeah, Genndy Tartakovsky's humor and art style would fit the Jetsons more. It'd be like the new Dexter's Lab.

He did the animated prologue for the movie Priest earlier this year.
