    Home for the Holidays
Director Jodie Foster together with an awesome cast and Holly Hunter in the lead recreate the fun & horror that is family (1995). Almost no one knows that movie, although it even has Robert Downey Jr. in his (arguably ;) ) best role. He's like on drugs in every scene. Granted, maybe he was.

    The Court Jester
Seriously, another movie I have been searching in here. I'm all for Monty Python's Holy Grail, but there was this American precursor that made me laugh tears as well. Danny Kaye, 1955 and the vessel with the pestle. Who could not love that??

Did anyone mention Bicentennial Man? Loved that film long time

Manos the Hands of Fate: Harold P. Warren was a true genius, but sadly like Charles Laughton with The Night of the Hunter it was his only film.

edit Oh, and seriously Night of the Hunter.

Lots of good movies mentioned here.

No one has yet mentioned Full Metal Jacket though.

Surprising. It really is a good movie, but especially one should always have seen the first part (during boot camp) at least once.

The film should have just been a boot camp comedy tbh. I could've watched 'YOU LOOK LIKE YOU COULD SUCK A GOLFBALL DOWN A GARDEN HOSE!!' all day long.

This sounds like something I'd have a lot of recommendations for, but at the moment I'll say The Naked Gun and Up because I can't think of any others.

Wow. I almost forgot about that movie. All I can really remember now is "Little Miss" and the fact that I watched it on an airplane.

Why did it take an entire page for anyone to mention Pixar at all? Seriously, my list would instantly include pretty much everything Pixar. I honestly could never call a single one of their movies bad. Also, I haven't actually watched that many of them, but I'd also add anything by Studio Ghibli from what I've seen and heard. Oh yeah, and pretty much all classic Disney movies too.

The Graduate, less a movie more a awareness of life.

And one of the inspirations for Monkey Island, too.

Any real Monkey Island fan should also watch some early pirate films, especially ones like Errol Flynn's Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk

Yes, or better yet, everything that has Errol Flynn in it. And then go watch the Gene Kelly Three Musketeers.

You should check it out once more, it's corny but I love it regardless, Robin Williams 2nd finest performance, his best being 'Toys' ...obv

Is AI good? I remember liking it (and was traumatized by it) when I was younger.

I tell you what part was good, the part where Robin Williams reads out the WB Yeats poem.

    Really? I mean really?
The only Pixar movie I remember really enjoying was Toy Story. That was a mind-blowing technical achievement back then. But in retrospect that's about all that movie has to offer. Just like Avatar in a few years time.

Maybe I am just to old to like those movies. I even have some of their movies on DVD but I haven't seen them for years. I really don't know why I even considered buying Finding Nemo on DVD. I must have had a lethal head wound or something. Even back then I noticed that it's story was just horrible and the thing was padded out like crazy.

On the Other hand I still love watching Shrek 1+2...

I understand when people don't like Pixar, but I can't understand when people don't see the appeal of Pixar.

I mean, you don't have to like something to see its appeal. I hate Twilight and High School Musical, but I can see why people love it. You're saying as if it's strange that there's actually someone who loves Pixar, when even people who don't like Pixar can at least see why people like it.

On top of that, you're too old to enjoy Pixar movies but you love watching Shrek 1+2. The only thing that Toy Story has to offer is the mind-blowing technical advancement, but Shrek 1+2 has more?

Opinions. I have them. Deal with it.

I only have time for the first Shrek, everything else is a shallow hollow pretender. Also, John Lithgow.

I can understand that. For me personally the second movie is saved by it's soundtrack.

I'm not saying that your opinion is wrong, since it's a matter of taste, and there's no right or wrong. You don't like Pixar, okay, there's nothing wrong with that. It's just that I find it weird that you act surprised when someone says they like Pixar. That's like being surprised when someone says they enjoy bowling. Even if you don't like bowling, plenty of people do, and there's nothing strange or surprising about that.

My problem is that this a list of must-see-movies. I was quiet when people mentioned the imo horrible Aliens but not the atmospherical masterpiece that came before in the series because I can see why people would want it on a list like this.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. Yeah, I like Pixar, but I wouldn't call it historic outside of animated films.

    Pixar = LucasArts = yeah
    DreamWorks = Sierra = urks
Best Pixar movie = Knick Knack = great

I frakking hate Toy Story. Just throwing that out there. I've seen the first two, although I forgot I had until recently, and now I remember why I forgot about them. Because I don't like them.

I hate it when people tell me that I must watch so and so movie or whatever. There's a few listed on here that I have seen and liked and just as many that I have no intention of watching ever. The rest kinda fit under the may-watch-if-on-but-not-bothered-if-it's-not category.

    You should watch Star Wars.

    Or maybe Buck Rogers.

What do you not like about them? Toy Story 2's an excellent film in my beady eyes.

Well maybe that they are not in the least memorable. The only thing I remember from TS 2 is this guy:

I was extremely bored and constantly aware that I was watching a film throughout the entire run of Toy Story 3. So full of half-baked ideas, undeveloped characters, stupid plot contrivances, and a successive series of pointless danger sequences.

If that's so, I point you to Sturgeon's Revelation.

I found the monkey in Toy Story 3 scary.

I'm surprised National Lampoon's Vacation isn't on here. I personally liked Vegas Vacation the best, but the original is still pretty funny. Plus it's got John Candy.
