I wonder how Microsoft feels about his passing...

I have a friend who works for Microsoft and he said they flew all their flags at half-mast out of respect for Jobs.

I'm under the impression a large portion of them (since they're mostly his kids) are brainwashed.

I personally think of them like they're a colony of tiny pests that can be easily exterminated. The only problem is, the extermination will require cooperation of behalf of the exterminators, who are mostly still bickering about how much they should get paid and how their insurance should be handled.

American Politics. What are you gonna do?

People are giving off about the Amy Winehouse jokes going about, but I don't really get it. Amy was always up for a bit of craic.

Mona Simpson, Steve's sister, wrote a eulogy for him and I'd definitely suggest giving it a read. Very heartfelt.

What does that have to do with anything?
  • edited October 2011
It doesn't, and pepsiboy will refrain from doing it again if he knows what's good for him.

    Pfft...

http://www.hottoys.jp/item/view/100001402 - Michael Jackson action figure... produced after his death.

http://www.hottoys.jp/item/view/100001346 - Heath Ledger's Joker action figure... produced after his death and during TDK's release.

    http://www.hottoys.jp/item/view/100001310 - And another Joker...

Bottom line? People will do tasteless things in order to make a buck off of someone's death. Especially if there are people willing to buy the product.

The Micheal Jackson one I can totally understand. It seems that the Japanese have this fascination with him. The Joker, not so much.

Why not? The movie came out with him in it post-mortem. There were lots of posters, T-Shirts, and other merchandise/advertising featuring Heath Ledger's Joker. Ultimately it's a character in a film, rather than the man that played him. A "Heath Ledger" figure, devoid of character, would be weirder(as is the case with this Steve Jobs figure). The Micheal Jackson one seems "worse", in that it's a person and not a person's "character", so to speak.

Oh, and the Japanese seem to love our movies. Their dub of Shrek has a really bizarrely good Japanese Eddie Murphy soundalike.

From what I know from my mother, a lot of Japanese people are Anglophiles or...Americanophiles? I mean, there's a reason that the Japanese Disneyland park is a cookie cutter duplicate of the one in California.

Don't forget the Jesus Christ Action figure! Produced after his death, with 5 phrases! Don't miss out by buying now!

And hasn't been the financial disaster euro-disney/Disneyland Resort Paris was in the first decade.

That's because the Tokyo Property isn't fully owned by Disney. They have a partnership with OLC. OLC manages the park; Disney just supplies the characters. Occasionally, Disney will go in and tell the OLC what to do (like how they are going to clone Toy Story Mania next to their clone of Tower of Terror), but for the most part, OLC does what they want with the parks (holding a special park event during Japanese holidays; Summer Bond fire events; lowering ticket prices post-March 2011 earthquake to welcome back local customers).

So unless Apple steps in and tells this company and any other company to stop producing unauthorized products of Steve Jobs... I guess they can do whatever they want.

Listen, I think you all know that I respect Steve jobs and seriously miss him. But even I think that doll is friggin creepy.

Those aren't action figures. Action figures have movable limbs. Hence "action".

That seems to be the direction most of these collectible figures are going for. Creepy.

Seriously, I don't want any of those in my collection or even in the same room as my bed. Never know which one may turn Chuckie on me...

Bad news for those of you who were expecting the Steve Jobs Action figures:
