Hi Everyone,

I was asked if Telltale could be funny and of course my answer was yes and then I promised to send them some great examples. So youtube is the easiest way to forward the bits along. What should I send to them, whats the best Sam and Max bit, whats the Best Cool Game for attractive people bit (you can play it to), Poker Night, Monkey, Banang?

Thanks

The funniest stuff, eh? Might I know who asked this? Just curious.

First of all, direct them to Abe Lincoln Must Die. The funny must be experienced first hand. And also, just about any conversation between Tycho and Strong Bad

I went on youtube and found a few clips of funny things from ToMI. Hope this helps!

The one thing that gets me laughing out loud is the courtroom antics in "The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood", especially with the possibilities of Guybrush calling himself to the stand! :D

Oh, BTW, welcome back, Dan Connors! :)

    Hi Dan!

Hm, let's see... The entire trial from Monkey (chapter 4), especially the part with Mrs. Prettywhiskers. The performances were outstanding.

As for Sam and Max, pretty much every dialogue that the duo has is awesome.

StrongBad's first episode, that has the song intro, is absolutely fantastic!

Then again, the entire games are funny! The characters grow on you and you experience the humor differently after a while. That's what makes them great ^^

The problem might be that most of the time, you can not cut a joke out of its context, so we'd have to find examples where gags work without the context.

Max' "death scene" in "the mole, the mob and the meatball" got me laughing hard and should work without experiencing the entire episode. The war song in "Abe Lincoln must die" seems a bit dated now, but it still is great. Season 2 opened with the maimbot, whose music quote exploits will work well without previous knowledge of the series. I was thinking about the ending/wedding scene of Season 2 as well, but that would be a bit much for people unfamiliar with the episodes. Season 3 aims for more coherence, more storytelling, so I have problems pinpointing a single scene that does not need any context. However, the episode trailers did a fine job of suggesting the funny parts, why not revisit them?

Whoa, Dan Connors! Nice seeing you on the forums!

If you don't mind me asking, why do you need examples of Telltale being funny, though? Who's this person asking you? (A potential licensor, I assume?) I can understand if it's something that needs to be kept secret, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. Anyway, funniest Telltale moments...well, it's kind of hard to narrow it down to single moments. You can't get the full Telltale experience just by looking at some YouTube clips. Some things can only be properly appreciated by playing it.

A good example is the battle against Ultimate Trogdor at the end of Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. The whole game suddenly turns to N64-level graphics ("I'm the best graphics ever!" exclaims Strong Bad), with Strong Bad turning into the over-the-top concept drawing we saw in that commercial made well before the first episode came out. It might not be too funny on its own, but the fact that the joke was set up months in advance made it outright hilarious when I saw it for the first time.

If I did have to pick one example of Telltale being funny, though, I guess I'd go with the Midtown Cowboys sequence from Episode 102 of Sam and Max. I don't know what it is, but I never laughed as hard at a video game as I did then.

Dan already mentioned it, but Banang is one of my favorites. Max's reactions are perfect.

Honestly, I think the funniest bit from Sam&Max is this the Artichoke Bit.

Tales Of Monkey is the Banang Bit.

Strong Bad has got to be when Either the Trailer involving strongbad, or 8 Bit is enough..where Homestar has the quarter.

My favorite machiminia is Max's presidential speech. Partially because I lived in Delaware for a while.

    Boom. Also, bang.

    I'm lazy, but also helpful.

Also, I might add; look at the cardboard helicopter set in Dangeresque 3 (in Brainblow City after the car chase). I could not stop laughing for an hour.

It always warms my heart when someone finds this one. Majus and I thought of the idea at like 6pm the night before we locked down the game. It was one of those classic Telltale situations where your mind is half gone and you make the mistake of mentioning a crazy idea out loud and then folks around the office hear about it and say "you seriously HAVE to make that." Then you think to yourself, "crap...what did I just get myself into" :) We got a bunch of sodas and worked on it all night until 6am. The next morning we smuggled it to QA right before the data was locked down and everything checked out so we got it into the game at the last possible second. Due to some unrelated coding change somewhere I think this only made it into the ps3 version sadly (or was it pc, but not ps3, I forget) so whenever someone finds it I'm stoked.

Heh, long live the crunch I guess. Oh and it definitely made it into the PC version.

Does anyone have footage of the Feelin' Groovy scene in The Penal Zone? Hello lamppost, indeed!
