What's the Last Thing You Downloaded?

edited December 2012 in General Chat
There's one for music, there's one for films, now there's one for files. What's the last thing you downloaded (legally)?

I'll kick us off: the soundtrack to Bitejacker: Undead on Arrival. It's one of the soundtracks in the Indie Music Bundle and I've only just got round to grabbing it.

Portal 2, which causes a BSOD for me. Great...
And some other games on Steam I can finally play on my new PC.

What I will not download though are 2 games that I was looking foreward to playing. But they changed them since I bought them and they are only available in German now. Without any chance for me to ever legally change it since I cannot even buy the English version or get it as a gift. They were in English before when I bought them though. So they got on my List of unplayable pieces of crap in Steam. Yes I am extremely pissed about that.

Might I inquire as to what particular DLC this was?

    Edit:

Might I inquire as to what particular DLC this was?

I think this is all of it:

I Believe in a Thing Called Love - The Darkness
    Gay Bar - Electric Six
Californiacation - Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Brutal Legend Pack (The Metal - Tenacious D, (We Are) The Road Crew '08 (Live) Motorhead, and More Than Meets the Eye by Testament)
Transmaniacon MC - Blue Oyster Cult
Stand Up and Shout - Dio
Child in Time - Deep Purple

(You can see my tastes there! XD (Definately lots of stuff for the microphone there. I'm planning on clearing out the cobwebs in my throat and sing some stuff again, Guitar Hero/Rock Band should be great practice))

EDIT: What I plan to get:

    Holy Diver - Dio
Ace of Spades '08 - Motorhead
    Godzilla - Blue Oyster Cult
    Space Truckin' - Deep Purple
The Who (My Generation, Baba O' Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again)
    Megadeth
Iron maiden pack, and any loose songs

    If they become available:

    Hammerfall
    Manowar
Meatloaf - Anything from Hang Cool Teddybear
    Rush songs that I like.

Also I need more Hammerfall and Manowar! :D

Unless you're me, in which case you download it from streaming sites using DownloadHelper.

OK, I actually just download Anime, Zero Punctuation and stuff from That Guy With The Glasses. But I could totally be grabbing porn as well!

Since I got a £27 refund for cancelling my Diablo 3 pre-order, I decided to use about £17 of that to get some more Rock Band DLC.

Sounds like a lot for DLC, and it is, but at least all the songs I get I know I love, and people who play with me are going to love! :D

So what songs did I get?

Number of the Beast (Original Version) - Iron Maiden
    Powerslave - Iron Maiden
Fear of the Dark (Live) - Iron Maiden
Can I play with Madness - Iron Maiden
2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden
Run to the Hills (Original Version) - Iron Maiden
(Didn't get the full pack, as I only wanted 6 of the 12 songs, so getting them individually saved me some points)

    Godzilla - Blue Oyster Cult
    Holy Diver - Dio
    Space Truckin' - Deep Purple
    Tribute - Tenacious D
Surfing with the Alien - Joe Satriani
My Generation (Live) - The Who

Re: Your Brains - Jonathan Coulton
    Splosion Man Theme Song

So thats 14 songs for £17. Not exactly cheap, but compared to the setlist to most of the GH/Rock Band games I have, I probably got waay more bang for buck.

Just need to pick up Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits, and then I won't need anything else really.

I finally got around to downloading VVVVVV the other day although I bought it a while ago. And now, 847 deaths later, it's done with all the shiny trinkets collected. I'd say I spent a solid half-hour at least on the Veni, Vedi, Vici rooms.

I think you did better than I did. That was an enormous pain in the ass. And I loved it. I can't think of another game that's made me such a glutton for punishment. Hell, the whole time I was trying that section, I was just happy to be sitting and listening to the soundtrack.

At the moment I'm downloading Borderlands. Pretty hefty download, which includes all four DLC.
  • edited December 2011
    Wahay! Go Gamestop UK! XD

They actually have used copies of Rock band 2 in stock!
(There are about 10 songs I want from this game that are not DLC, so I've had to hunt this game down!)

Even better is that its only £8 used.

    That literally costs me nothing!

So its definately only Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits that I need, and then I don't need any more GH/RB related stuff. :D

Thanks to the DownloadHelper plug-in for Firefix, this video.

(Incidentally, this is also how I've 'acquired' most, if not all, of my anime. Can anyone tell me if that's legal or not, 'cause I genuinely don't know and would very much like to.)

The last thing I downloaded was my brain to a USB stick. I managed to fit my entire mind on to a 50mb stick, uncompressed. Rather depressing really, but handy should I ever lose my mind and need a backup.

Super hardcore porn, and lots of it. Mostly involving animated Japanese school girls becoming overly acquainted with mischievous demon tentacles.

Oh, and an elderly Swedish gentleman taking a horse for a 5 star dinner date.

    I have very specific needs.

It's not exactly the latest thing, but I downloaded Rockbox for my SanDisk Sansa Fuze mp3 player.

I find that I like Rockbox alot. Certainly, the home menu screen isn't as pretty as the original firmware, but Rockbox does otherwise have quite a lot more options and capabilities than the original firmware does.

For one thing, I can set Rockbox to "Car Adapter Mode," which makes the player pause (and then turn off when the timeout setting is reached) as I turn my car off when it is plugged into the car's power. With the original firmware, I have to remember to pause or turn off the player myself.

Also, the sound is better with Rockbox, even with the equalizer turned off. I'm not sure why, but it is.

Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse for the PS3. For which I paid nothing. Thanks PS+ account, you're awesome.

Seriously, anyone know if it's OK or not to download anime from sites that show it for free using DownloadHelper? I genuinely would like to know the legality of that.
  • edited December 2011
It isn't technically legal, no, because it's copyrighted. However, chances are you won't get caught for it. Especially if the said anime isn't licensed in your country.

Finishing off downloading all my GOG stuff.

I just bought a load from the christmas sale, and when I get some more money, I'll probably finish off my wishlist!
(Then I can wait a looooong time for new stuff to come out, which by going by GOGs new plans, I'll probably already have! XD)

So what new stuff did I download today then:

    Darklands
    Ultima 7
    Wing Commander 1+2
    Wing Commander 3
    Crusader: No Remorse
    Crusader: No Regret
    Slipstream 5000
    Broken Sword 4
    IL-2 Sturmovik

Just got to play them all now! XD

Ultima 7 and Wing Commander III are wonderful games. Takes me back to my days as a kid. Good times, good times. *sniff*

I don't know if Wing Commander IV is available but if it is, then get that because even though it lacks overgrown kitties, it's probably the best in the series.

Also look out for the fifth Wing Commander game; Prophecy. It's story's not that great (although it still features Mark Hamill, which is a definite plus), but in terms of graphics and gameplay it's easily the best of the lot. A highly underrated entry in the Wing Commander saga...

... As is Ultima IX in that saga. Okay, so it's a buggy mess of a game but the scope is amazing. It's similar to Morrowind/Oblivion. Of course, there's only one true Ultima game to me and that's Ultima Online. That game was doing WoW way before its conception. Epic stuff. Also it's better than WoW because it had beautiful 2D art.

... God, I wish I could go back in time and be a kid again!

At the risk of derailing the thread,I don't see what's wrong legally with downloading free streamed stuff, so long as you don't intend to sell it or rent it out to someone or whatever. Given that you have to go to the site to download the things anyway, they're still getting the hit counters to please the ad guys, and you get to watch the things whenever you want.

So long as the thing is going to stay online for the time it takes you to watch (and delete) it on your HDD, I see no issue.
