So the second episode of Elementary... better than the first. Seems to be settling into a quite watchable show.
Downloaded it to watch tonight. I didn't watch last weeks because I haven't watched a pilot of a new show I may want to watch in... a year and a half, now? Because Pilots are consistently awful. I've got good expectations. I've no reason to see why these shows can't exist and this can't function as just an enjoyable procedural, the same as the Mentalist or Hawaii Five-O (although Person of Interest still doesn't get a pass because I want eccentric billionaires dammit).
There should be a Sherlock game using the Arkham City engine. Not the swinging from building to building but a large area to roam and have detective scan mode to find clues.

You're missing an oppurtunity, don't change any mechanics or aesthetic decisions from Arkham City, only change it to the main character is referred to as Sherlock Holmes.

Moriarty is Joker Irene can be Talia (or Catwoman) and Watson can be Robin and Mrs Hudson will be Alfred.
...I think I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms from not watching Elementary recently. Is that weird?
It's weird, right? Oh man, never thought I'd need a hit of Jonny Lee Miller...
Pick TV have changed their schedules since the "Radio Times" went to press, at least one episode of "Elementary" will be shown in two weeks' time.
Alongside the first episode of "Treasure Island". Unfortunately, nobody appears to have thought of scheduling the second part, or any more of "Elementary".
Merde.
(Still, have ordered "Sherlock: The Casebook" from the library)
Does anyone remember the Hammer version of Hound of the Baskervilles?
Yes. Excellent cast, but I just don't think it worked. Come to think of it, the horror aspects were stolen by the BBC for their aforementioned Richard Roxburgh 'craph' adaptation.
Update on the Pick TV situation - the new Radio Times claims that "Elementary" will start as a "New Series" Thursday of next week.
Really? I thought that (with the exception of the two Watsons), the Granada series was badly scripted, badly cast, badly directed and badly acted. I believe that Holmes fans are generally divided 50-50 over this show.

I guess I'm on the other side then cos I enjoyed the episodes Iv seen.
It's not Sherlock Holmes in the traditional sense - it's more a variant on a police procedural show - but it's still pretty good.
Yup, on the grand scale of recent big hit CBS procedural shows, I'd put it at:
1. The Mentalist (nothing wrong with it, essentially just a less-light-hearted Psych)
2. Elementary (just a very well-done procedural)
3. Person of Interest (okay enough, but every. single. episode. has the twist that the person they think will be the victim ends up being the criminal)
4. Hawaii Five-O (obscene amounts of blatant product placement drags down a very forgettable show(bing it, you'll see))
Person of Interest did stop us getting Odd Jobs, the procedural where Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson play an eccentric billionaire and his butler who solve crimes, so I'll never forgive it.
And I will never forget the comic of Deadpool Corps that had all the Deadpools put on their own version of Hawaii Five-O. It was gorgeous. Even though I've never watched the show, that's why I will remember it forever.

Hmm maybe I'll give it a spin some time. I need my Sherlock fix since the BBC show won't be back until the fall. And yes, I do know they are two different takes on the character.

The show will likely be back sometime between August and January this coming year - there's a chance they'll be in post-production hyperdrive to get it out sooner.
US people get it in May 2014 though due to the weird way Masterpiece Theatre runs.
Also, I feel that in the spirit of this thread, I should mention that I watched The Great Mouse Detective last night. It was brilliant and I'm still terrified of that bat.

No don't be silly change absolutely nothing about the game other than re-dubbing it to be Sherlock Holmes instad of Batman.
UNLESS it was a drug-induced fantasy. That I'd buy.
Sherlock is Batman, Watson is Robin, Lestrade is Jim Gordon, Anderson is Harvey Bullock, Mrs Hudson is Alfred and Irene Adler is Catwoman.

There’s only one Sherlock Holmes Christmas story that they could have done: Blue Carbuncle.
I think Moffet and co could pick any story and make it Christmasy.
Come to think of it, the godawful pre-Moffat BBC take on "The Hound of the Baskervilles" was all Christmassy.
And Molly got a hug.
After getting expertly insulted and humiliated. I'm not sure if the two cancel out.
It's like getting a hug from Sheldon Cooper.

And it's wrong. We only get one episode. *And* it's snowing.

I'm with you on that. I especially liked the episode with the guy aping Peter Lorre.

Ah man I can't wait that long!
I haven't watched the show, but is he some sort of Islamic terrorist? Because that's exactly what I expect from a CBS procedural with a female Watson.
