There's a lack of respect to the ones that provide fan subtitles.
The fans do their best, with passion and love for your game, to make perfect subtitles, which may lead also to some more customers.
Fans translate with a lot of efforts, wasting their spare time.
Why don't you reassure them that their work worth something because you don't plan subtitles, or kindly tell them to stop because you're planning to release them later?
Because for legal liability reasons, Telltale can under no circumstances support or even comment on any mods of their games, including subtitles.

I disagree with you.
I don't think that's a problem saying: "We (TTG) are interested in implementing (official way) these languages..." or "We (TTG) are absolutely not interested in implementing (official way) these languages...".
There is someone who wants to implement unofficial fan mods in the game BECAUSE TTG
1 - has not implemented that language in the game
2 - (more important) say nothing about the possibility that this language is implemented in the future
Nobody wants that TTG comments the unofficial activity of fans, but it would be nice if TTG comments on HIS OWN activities (such as, for example, THE INTENTION to implement or not a language in the game. I repeat, THE INTENTION, I'm not saying the official implementing)
This should of course read: For legal liability reasons, Telltale can under no circumstances support or even comment on any unofficial mods of their games, including subtitles.
Yes, of course they could comment on their plans. But sometimes these comments also stand in the way of the execution of these plans, and sometimes plans are so insecure that official comments would only awaken hopes in the community TTG might not be able to fulfill eventually. Let's just say they had their fair share of those situations.
If languages would, like in most Seasons before, be implemented by another publisher in the target country, it would be far too early to announce anything anyway.

Couldn't they state "we are working on arrangements to provide local publishers and let them to decide if they want to localize the game"?
Couldn't they state "right now we're just providing Spanish as additional language; other languages could be take in consideration after we finish with spanish, but now we've no plans about it"?
Couldn't they state "Right now there are no plans to release other languages. We'll inform you if these plans change"?
Couldn't they state "We're thinking about it, but right now nothing is defined, we'll keep you informed when other languages will be took in consideration"?

Just don't leave us in a limbo.
Not saying anything IS a clear statement. It is just not the answer you are searching for...
The problem is not about learning english or not, like some folks said before there is a big Walking Dead community right here in Europe and ignored them is quite disappointing.
Not everyone is able to speak a fluent English and even for those who speak a little it's still pretty hard to understand sometimes.
Making some subtitles for the major European languages such as French, German or Spanish would be great and that wouldn't take too much work i think.
I'm just playing "Bastion"... and can't get English subtitles in that game. The German ones the game forces on me, however, are SO FUCKING BAD that this thing is almost unbearable. The narrator is consistently translated with a completely wrong character in mind.
Seriously, establishing cooperation with publishers in the target country and releasing halfway proper translations on retail DVD made by them seems to be the more sensible option. Telltale have done this quite often in the past and I hope this will work out the same way with TWD. But it does take more time, and ongoing negotiations are not to be disclosed.

According to someone that looked inside the texture content of the Ep.1, there are 4 textures that are national flags. Maybe they are icons for a future language menu? The flags are for these regions:
-English
-French
-German
-Spanish
As usual Italian is not considered....
maybe we should open a Kickstarter project to have them???
Hello, me does not include why a game(set, play) so popular as your is not its version translated there français.je cheeks on 360 and I am not the only one to gamer has to think of the mème chose.pour I it is a marketing error because you lose many of argent.si did not rectify you it for you my money will go has the competitors too bad for you.
I wanted to ask if given the success that now is assured of The Walking Dead.
Why not think about doing some localization of this game?
I'm Italian and I love this game and like millions of people around the world.
Around us are amateur translators who have permission to enjoy your masterpiece in my language but unfortunately this only works on PC as on consoles would be Illegal.
I hope someone can answer me to indicate whether it is due to location and what language.
Thanks for your attention and sorry for my english.

Looks like there is demand for the game to be available in more than just English for consumer comfort.
So in other words there is a ready market. All Telltale need do is put in some translation subs. (I bet written across the screen would be fine) and they are golden.
Or for an extra kick do voice overs and release them on a bi monthly period. But make them pay for the whole thing up front. (oh sorry about that snark)
Not a bad idea. Not sure how much effort it would take but it sounds like the money is there to be made.
Well there gonna be no official localization in close future. However there are already some unofficial translations of subtitles (I saw Russian subtitles translation), so subtitles can be translated without telltales help ^^.
That is the problem with Europe. Many countries and each have their own language. And almost everyone hate English and can barely speak or understand it.
There IS something wrong with Kenny speaking German.
Or Larry speaking French.
Duck speaking Italian?
If i had to choose between Norwegian and English, id still go with English. Anything else would ruin the gaming experience.
I do agree that full translation will ruin atmosphere but adding only translated subtitles to consoles will be a great help to some people who do not know English but want to enjoy the game. As I said before there are already some good unofficial translations of the game for PC. If only TTG accepted those and added them to the consoles.

Well, I can't speak French. If you could translate to English maybe we will understand you. Telltale guys included.

Does your country have a dubbing culture? You seem to not understand the process of localization. You have no idea how incredibly wide spread a good grasp of the English language is throughout the entirety of Europe and why people STILL might prefer a game in their own language if their English is anything but perfect.
Revolvermouth Duck speaking Italian might be the perfect beat-per-minute match.
And I also have a bad english but it's really easy to understand.
So it would be interesting to have a french translation for the subtitles but not more.

If i buy TWD on steam, when the retail dvd is here an upgrade on steam are avaible with the subtitle or not ?
sry for my english
Really , im a spanish player / lover of The Walking Dead comic and game (didnt watched the TV serie because i preffer just follow the comic line) and i just have a complain with this game why its just in english? i mean , i dont ask about make a cast to translate it completly but in my opinion it could have almost 5 differents languages because at some parts of the plot , it can be difficult to understand (when all the characters are arguing at same time , i cant get all that are they saying ) i loved the game and really , i just think that it should bring a text translations for Europeans users , if the developers watch this thread , please , i beg for a translation at PC/Consoles

The spanish translation it's confirmed. It's the only language that Telltale confirmed they will translate.

Really? o: i think that they should work on French , Italian , and German too i mean , they are quite big markets , and Portugal must shouldnt be forgotten :P but by the way , its a good notice i hope that it comes for Xbox too , that would me make replay it again even if i finish it in English :I

I think this is a little bit disgusting because there are a lot of european gamers and this game has encountered many succes. And subtitles translation aren't too expansive so why? Just to economize more moneys? It's revolting , telltale aren't better than activision or EA ... If nothing is done I think that TWD will be the last telltale game which I will buy ...
