Cos it was changed so fast it looked like a mistake or Sony didn't like it.

I'm sure they wanted the tags there, so that it would show up when people searched for Smash Bros, but they probably freaked out when they saw that people were noticing the tags being visible

Why? Trying to leech sales? From a business perspective, I don't see the problem. Movies do it all the time.

From a marketing perspective, it's a rather stupid idea, especially with the Wii U just being announced as getting a release date this November (although for monetary reasons, I hope they delay the release).

See it in perspective. People for at least a year have been waiting for any information of not one, but two Super Smash Bros. announcements, one for the Wii U and one for the 3DS. It's a stupid idea to tag something with something that is actually being anticipated.

Okay, so this got me worried:

How could they ever mess up?

Sluggish, repetitious fighting...with trivia questions? If you're going to rip off Smash Bros...rip it off well.
  • edited June 2012
Well, the trivia questions aren't that big a deal, it's been confirmed that stage hazards can be turned off, which is actually an improvement over Super Smash Bros.

Turning off stage hazards is only an improvement if you're under the mistaken impression that games like Super Smash Bros. are competitive fighting games, rather than the glorified party games that they are. This doesn't mean they aren't FUN. I have a great time bashing in Pikachu's face with Bowser's fist or having Sonic spin-dash into Mario, but these are not highly structured competitive games.

Stage hazards are part of the fun.

I wish I hadn't lost my copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl now... :'(

    *head explodes*

...why couldn't they make this game more akin to classic arcade style fighting instead? They... they didn't need to emulate the same gameplay scheme, considering the fact that what will sell this game are the characters.

    Gah, freaking finally.

This game will be garbage due to lack of Ice Climbers.

A hacker has apparently cracked open the Beta and found a bunch of stuff. Including Ratchet, Raiden and Sir Daniel Fortesque.

Is that stage in the corner off Ape Escape!? If it has Ape Escape in it I might play it.

It is from Ape Escape. One of the characters is Spike, apparently.

Sweet! It makes sense the gadgets make good SSB fighting gameplay.

The huge disappointment called Evil Cole is in my opinion offset by the awesomeness that is Sir Daniel.

I was wondering when someone would pick up on that!

Ratchet,Spike,Dante, & Sackboy have been announced at Gamescom 2012.

Now I want to play Ape Escape again.

Now we can do Ratchet vs Jak vs Sly vs Sackboy.

I was looking forward to Dante too, I was thinking they'd do what happened with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and put in DMC3 Dante. Or even DMC4 Dante. But no. We get DmC Dante. I didn't even watch the rest of that video. That particular version of Dante has a lot to live up to.

Though what really, really ticks me off is I want to hate the new game so bad, but it looks like a Devil May Cry game should. Plus Vergil is in it! The thing that irritates me is they're calling Dante's sword Rebellion when it looks nothing like it. At least his guns look right. Or close enough.

Anyways, here's hoping that the rumor of Sir Daniel Fortescue being in this game are true.

He was in the Beta, so unless they've taken him out, I think you'll be happy.

Well, crap. There went any idea of wanting to hate this game's guts despite being a Smash clone. Nariko from Heavenly Sword and Sir Daniel Fortescue from Medievil are now confirmed. Those two plus Raiden from Metal Gear Rising really want me to want this game.

Weird how they didn't confirm them yet.

Sir Daniel, Sackboy and Spike already sold it for me.

Same here expect Raiden instead of Sackboy.

Gotta say, even though I've only played a demo of Heavenly Sword(and enjoyed the heck out of it), Nariko looks to be a lot of fun to play as.

Sir Dan really moves and fights like he does in his games, that's good. I wish for a new Medievil game.

So anyone else get into the PS all-stars beta?
  • edited September 2012

As of now, the character line up for the game has been totally announced. Any further characters will likely be DLC. These characters are:
    Big Daddy
    Cole MacGrath
    Evil Cole MacGrath
    Colonel Radec
    Dante
    Fat Princess
    Heihachi Mishima
    Jak and Daxter
    Kratos
    Nariko
    Nathan Drake
    PaRappa the Rapper
    Raiden
    Ratchet and Clank
    Sackboy
    Sir Daniel Fortesque
    Sly Cooper
    Spike
    Sweet Tooth
    Toro

Gonna be honest, the only characters I'd likely play as are Nariko, Raiden, and Sir Dan. Dante if the REAL Dante is an alt costume. Maybe Kratos and Sweet Tooth.

How do you know? Also no playing as J&D, R&C, or Sly for you?

How do you know? Also no playing as J&D, R&C, or Sly for you?

From IGN: Sony has revealed that no more characters will be announced for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’s launch. In a post on Twitter, PlayStation Blog senior social media specialist Sid Shuman wrote that “We have revealed the full launch lineup of characters,” confirming that All-Stars will ship with 20 fighters.

And as for J&D, R&C, and Sly, I've never played any of the games they're from.
