I enjoyed Young Guns. Quigley Down Under was good too.

For a comedy western, I really enjoyed Maverick. And of course Back to the Future III :p

I'm a fan of Sukiyaki Western Django. It's like a combo between Kill Bill and El Topo. Plus it's directed by Takeshi Miike.

Unforgiven, Tombstone....I think those are my top two. I'm not a western fan.

Does Coyboys & Aliens count? It's kind of a Western... just with aliens in it. :D

Also, Rango. I know, not a proper Western, but it's got 'Clint' in it, so I'm counting it.

I think "Coy Boys & Aliens" is a different genre entirely :D
  • Once Upon A Time In The West

    Young Guns
    The Quick And The Dead
    Hell Town
    Tombstone
    Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
    Wyatt Earp
    Colorado
    The Assassination of Jesse James

Once Upon A Time In The West is one of the best movies of all time.

I watch Tombstone once every few months.

    1. Duck, You Sucker
    2. Once Upon a Time in the West
    3. The Big Gundown
    4. My Name Is Nobody
    5. El Topo
    6. The Baron of Arizona
    7. The Searchers
    8. Maverick
    9. Blazing Saddles
    10. Companeros
    11. The Mercenary

Also: An American Tail: Fievel Goes West

Noname has a great list- these are my top eleven besides the Dollars trilogy. An American Tail: Fievel Goes West is twelfth because although it pales as a western, it's a great tribute and sendoff to the incredible Jimmy Stewart.

If you want more bang for your buck there are some really great TV shows...

    look into Deadwood.
Ian McShane steals the show and doesn't give it back ever.

Hell on Wheels... Does its best to fill the void Deadwood left when it concluded.

I'm also looking forward to this.

    Lonesome Dove is awesome.

And the latest Alamo movie is surprisingly historically accurate in the battle scenes.

Try Sam Peckinpah's 'The Wild Bunch' and 'Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid'. Then a double feature of 'Billy the Kid vs. Dracula' and 'Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter'.
  • If Red Dead Redemption was made into a TV miniseries, who would you want to play as John Marston, and why?

Personally, I would want Christian Bale. They look alike.

I highly recommend 'Unforgiven'. I don't particularly dig the genre but that film is nothing short of outstanding.

Also, if you're into Quentin Tarantino's films then you'll be sure to want to watch 'Django Unchained' this fall.

Anson Mount pretty much is Marston on Hell on Wheels.

As stated, definitely see Unforgiven ASAP. It won Best Picture, and can sort of be seen as a sequel to the Dollars trilogy (and Clint's other old Westerns).

I'll be renting Fistful on Blu-Ray this week from Netflix, pretty excited about it.

    Definitely play Red Dead Redemption.

    Shane. And Deadwood.

I should have put “The Searchers” in my list. Great movie. And I’m still not sure if I’m going to go see Django Unchained.
