UbiSoft pretty much owned the whole conference. Nintento pretty much was goddamn awful.
People expected way too much from Nintendo's 60 minute conference. Sure it could have been better, but still. We got a pretty good conference from them, not to mention the stuff after the conference such as the interviews and such.
In my opinion, Sony, Ubisoft, and Nintendo all did great jobs on their conferences despite their errors(Wonderbook and Nintendo Land come to mind), Microsoft did ok, but really? I don't need a seminar on voice commands and search bars. EA just failed.

We got an awful conference from them that was pretty much talking about how awesome WiiU is without actually showing how awesome it is. There was barely any showing at all. It was pretty much all just about talking how revolutionizing everything was. Hell, UbiSoft's minute of ZombiU was the only thing that actually showed off WiiU's capabilities in an interesting way (well, Luigi's Mansion part of NintendoLand did that too). And that was pretty much the goal of the conference - to show what kind of cool stuff could be done with WiiU, and Nintendo failed absolutely. And the conference was utterly boring at that, because... well... because they were just talking how revolutionizing everything was.
PS. Yes, we got Pikmin. But it's WiiU feature is pretty much a glorified mini-map, which is why I was still not impressed.

Batman, Nintendo Land, ZombiU all showed off the WiiU.

Isn't that the idea?

Batman Arkham City showed a TON of what the WiiU could do.

There was another conference last Sunday showing what the WiiU could do. Batman could show what the WiiU could do, ZombiU showed what it could do, and so did Nintendo Land.
PS. Yes, we got Pikmin. But it's WiiU feature is pretty much a glorified mini-map, which is why I was still not impressed.
Well the thing is though is that it is pikmin! Pikmin are awesome when they don't stop their jobs to pull on some grass. Not to mention the HD graphics and such which look great.
Farlander, you obviously missed the Wii U pre-E3 presentation they gave. They explained there that they were focussing more on the games themselves on the E3 itself rather than the functionality of the Wii U. Mostly because they knew we weren't interested in the boring shit.
And quite honestly, I'm glad they didn't go in-depth on the Wii U during E3. I'm watching E3 for the games, not for people talking about what stuff can do. That's who Microsoft failed horribly with their presentation when they showed us Xbox SomethingGlass.
Batman Arkham City, with the exception of the batarang, uses WiiU as a glorified UI. If anything, Nintendo was proving over and over how good WiiU was for doing UI stuff, and that's all nice and cool, but there has to be more to it. ZombiU and NintendoLand/Luigi's Mansion were the only two examples that were actually more than just glorified UI.
EDIT: Gman, the problem I have is not with not showing in-depth specs of the WiiU, the problem is not showing games that normally use the features of WiiU. Not to mention that I already said a hundred times that Nintendo barely showed any games at all, it was mostly talk about how awesome WiiU is, which was actually worse than Microsoft presentation. Microsoft was at least SHOWING something rather than just talking how awesome it was. And what kind of 'focusing on games' is saying 'we have a huge line-up of third-party games' and then just showing a reel of five second footage from those games? That is NOT focusing on games.

Nintendo showed as well, but go ahead and ignore those games for your point, I just want to point out this right here. Luigi's mansion isn't a WiiU game, how could it show off the WiiU well?

OH SNAP!
Also, I can't understand how people can be disappointed. Nintendo said they were mostly only going to show us Wii U games, which actually tipped me off on how boring this could be. It actually surprised me how it wasn't all that boring at all.
Compared to Microsoft's presentation, Nintendo's was pretty solid. Especially compared to Microsoft's.
Protip: When showing off games, do not show us five minutes of gameplay without any comment on it whatsoever. It's boring, it's like watching a friend play a game.
Hence NintendoLand/Luigi's Mansion. With a slash. I was talking about the Luigi's Mansion PART of the NintenoLand. Not the stand alone game.
Ah that makes much more sense.
Say I remember seeing some game where the WiiU controller became a sniper rifle and you aimed at the screen and shot someone. Anyone remember what game that was? It was shown this year, not that Mii one from last year.
ZombieU WILL have that. I don't know if that's what you're talking about, but it was mentioned that in the game the gamepad will be a sniper scope...among other things.

ZombiU (EXACT SPELLING) had that, I believe. And there was the NintendoLand/Zelda minigame.
You know what I think happened at the E3 press conference?
They deliberately showed us some boring-ass games.
Evidences are Game & Wario (working title) and Project P-100, two games that should really show what the Wii U is capable of.
Although personally, I have to disagree with the boring-ass part.
I mean, look at this. I don't give a crap about Xbox SmartGlass (most didn't), I certainly don't give a crap about Halo 4 or Gears of War, or actually, any of the games shown on the Microsoft conference, with South Park: The Stick of Truth being the only exception. I also didn't give a crap about half of Sony's lineup, mostly because they are games I'm not interested in. Only PSASBR interests me. However, most of Nintendo's do interest me.
And you know why?
Personal preferences.
I mean, hell, for all we care Microsoft's press conference got a lot of Xbox players stoked, I don't know. To me Microsoft's press conference was just boring. And I do own an Xbox 360, I just never play on it. Mostly because I lost the power chord, but still.
If people care enough about it being set up vertically, someone will make a stand, even if it's a third party.
What I notice most about the console is that it is teeny weeny tiny just like the Wii and the GameCube. I am fully aware that the reason for this is because the Japanese place a high priority on conserving space in their homes (because their homes often don't have much space to begin with). The only problem with putting a priority on physical size (given a target price point) is that it puts limits on performance.
I thought it was lackluster to say the least, everything started hunky dory with Miyamoto and Bill Trinen showing off Pikmin and up to their usual panto antics.
Then Reggie told us they had "NO TIME", they showed three 3DS games that they had already announced, no surprises there.
They spent a lot of time showing off Batman: Arkham City which was a bizarre choice. Why not show off a new title like Assassins Creed 3 like Sony did at their event or Darksiders 2? Not something that has been covered in the media for a long time and most contemporary gamers are very familiar with. The tacked on features didn't seem particularly interesting or good either.
People are probably being too harsh on Nintendo Land, but it certainly wasn't show closing material, ending on that squirty wee in-game fireworks display was so flat. If they want it to be the killer app it'll have to be pack-in software, I don't see this making major headway unless they really push it.
Maybe they wanted to appease all the investors who said they should make iPhone games so they left the core first-party prices out, that didn't work for them as the stock took a minor tumble.
I don't think Wii U's dead, but like 3DS they really have to do a lot of convincing and communicating. Unfortunately for them communicating has historically been a weak point for the firm.
Still beats Microsofts conference by a country mile though.

Also, the battery for the WiiU Gamepad is 3-5 hours, apparently. Oh dears.
Link and info and other related stuff should be posted here...
and there we have two other threads for e3 ??? seriously how blind are these people ?
Dang. I thankfully won't be using the gamepad that far from the WiiU, but still, That ruins the fun a bit.

And you didn't even use proper grammar! People are gonna think I did that! Oh, the shame...
EDIT: Someone merged threads. Dammit all, now mine looks an absolute mess. Gah.
Sorry Darth! Didn't mean to dirty up your beautiful thread with a merge... I'm having a crappy morning. I'll try to get rid of the poll.
rwoar !
grammar police booo
ditto.
And yes, I'm a grammar Nazi. What you gonna do 'bout it?
i've seen grammar way worse than that too by others..
Applaud.
Dragging us kicking and screaming back to the original topic, here's a rather pathetic excuse as to why the WiiU has to be lying down. Oh Shigeru, you loveable rapscallion, coming from anyone else that would just sound silly.

Y'know what this thread needs? More South Park.
No? How about some free-to-play multiplayer Mech battles?

Still waiting for some new gameplay footage for Star Trek and Injustice.
