Well that just reminds me how they're going to destroy the FFVI soundtrack.

It can be either. For the purpose Of the thread, I mean music originating from a game or movie.

Damn, I guess that excludes the Soul Reaver/Raziel's theme. As it didn't originate from the game, but was actually made 2 years before the game came out. But there are some good soundtracks in there, that was made for the game it self.

In that case I love the music composed by Hans Zimmer.
Face/Off is on the top of my list, the music that plays in the chase scenes, and the music in the very end is really good.

I also like the entire soundtrack for MDK 2, all of the tracks got a really good beat but I am particularly fond of the track that plays when Kurt chases after Schwang Schwing in Swizzle Firma.

Oh yeah. That music is fantastic. The only thing that I would change about it would be the spoken interludes. They're fun and interesting, but sometimes I just want the music.

I forgot those're there. I generally just skip around them or loop a track, typically Django, La Corsa 2nd Version, La Chiamavano King, I Got A Name, 100 Black Coffins, Freedom, Nicaragua, Un Monumento, or Trinity (Titoli). I've been looping one of those every day all month. But I listened to Django all the time even before it was in this movie. It's just such a good song, and I thank Tarantino for giving me the chance to hear some of these songs in the theater when I never would have otherwise. I can understand if not everyone would look at it that way, but to me...the movie was partially a concert of music hand picked for me. I can't think of another movie outside of the first two American Tail movies or Leone's westerns where I like every single track and every single track hits a type of music I like individually. What's also remarkable about Django was that it picked out songs I didn't even know I loved yet! But the volume...the sheer volume of PERFECT MUSIC. How often does that happen?

I expected once I read the track listing to be disappointed by the soundtrack, because it used so much less Morricone than I wanted. I'm just a Morriconephile. But once I heard the music, I knew it was perfect. There is a portion of Morricone's work that doesn't hit that sweet spot for me, though. And Ancora Qui is that type of music. It's such a good song. It's not my thing at all, though. It kind of reminds me of Bratja from Fullmetal Alchemist though. I feel like it could have been used more effectively to build on the romance. A piece like that can be used very powerfully. Once Upon A Time in the West has Finale/Jill's America by Morricone and A Fistful of Dynamite/Duck You Sucker!/Once Upon A Time in the Revolution/Giu la testa has Giu la testa, both extremely powerful pieces of music used to powerful romantic effect in both films. I expected that from this, because there are scenes that mirror scenes in Giu la testa, when Django is seeing visions of Broomhilda. If you see Giu la testa, you'll know what I mean. I really feel like Tarantino originally had something like that in mind for scenes like that, but I could be wrong. The way he did it was great, though. Leone went about it really slow, and Tarantino was going for a fast pace through a long film. I'll shut up now. :D

Well, they want to put it up on iTunes and Joypad Records, but they're still working out agreements with Nintendo. I kicked in 50 bucks on their Kickstarter back when they were first raising funds for Twilight Symphony, so I got a digital release and a physical album on the way.

Recently got the Robocop: Prime Directives soundtrack composed by Norman Orenstein. When I saw the mini series I liked the track that was playing in a car chase. I later found out it was called Pursuit. So I bough the album only to hear that track, but I quickly found a few gems in there.

There's no reason it shouldn't. Not at this point.

    EDIT: Love this song.

Funny, I was about to post that, too, but I backed out. I think some of those words are wrong, though. At one point, I had the official sheet music for this....

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Sonic Adventure 2 soundrack yet! Really!

I've been re-appreciating the 'Spirit' soundtrack recently. It may just be the mild nostalgia, but I rate this one pretty highly, even in spite of its occasional cheesiness.

I also feel the need to give a mention to the 'Fable II' soundtrack, which has some might fine moments.

I do like Sonic Adventure 2's soundtrack and it is in my opinion the best Sonic soundtrack with songs like Metal Harbor,Escape from the City and Live and Learn but there is over ones i like including Jak & Daxter 1 and Sly Thieves in time.

I've used WinAmp to manage my music collection (soundtracks or otherwise) for years. I like it a lot for various reasons, which are similar in nature to why I love Firefox and Rockbox.

Recently, I started helping a coworker to join the world of MP3s (she and her husband are still using CDs), while also helping her to find a good alternative to iTunes for managing her digital music (as she has an iPhone).

Enter MediaMonkey. On most every site I found, where there someone else was looking for the same thing I was, people kept saying MedaMonkey is the way to go. Well, I tried it. It's... fantastic. Though it might not have as many skins as Winamp, it's got a crapton of features that I love--most notably that I can set up the interface to be braindead simple (while Winamp is forever stuck being fairly complex.)

And, of course, with the CopyTrans iOS drivers, there's no need for iTunes to be installed whatsoever.

Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement for MediaMonkey. It's just that I've been having a lot of fun with it, and the more I use it, the more impressed I am, because I keep finding ways to make it simpler to use than Winamp, while it increasingly becomes more and more superior to iTunes with regard to what it's capable of doing. And I really felt like mentioning it after I just now figured out how to duplicate iTunes' "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder functionality, without my having to think about rescanning like I do in Winamp, and with the files being moved instantly without needing to take time to process them like iTunes does.

I hated the latest iTunes for a while be have it rearranged too much, but I'm back to loving it again.
  • edited May 2013
I hate iTunes because it's a resource hog, and it confines the user to only be able to do certain things in just a certain limited way.

For example, the mp3 encoder in iTunes only has a few options (ie. "Fair; Good; Better; Best"). Also, iTunes doesn't want to work with any devices that are not made by Apple. I had to install a third-party software called "iTunes Agent" in order for to get iTunes to work with my father-in-law's SanDisk Sansa.

I also quite agree with this lengthy comparison between Windows Media Player, iTunes, Winamp, and MediaMonkey. Granted, it is a bit dated, as MediaMonkey is v4.0 now.
