I chose Carley because she seemed like a better friend for Lee than Doug, as she knows my secret but still trusts me and they both get along. Also another reason is because it evened out the male/female ratio in the group:
Choice 1: I lose ammo like there's no tomorrow. [Carly]
When has Carly ever missed a shot? I figured the other one would just inherit her gun and waste ammo regardless. (I don't know first-hand what Doug does in chapter 2, tried to play my 2nd playthrough onto episode 2 just now but the save system is borked and I've now lost ALL my progress)
I think Carly just has a misunderstanding of batteries. Personally I always had trouble telling the Greater Than and Lesser Than symbols apart, and that's not much worse than not knowing what end of a battery is + or -. That she didn't check if there were any batteries in it in for the first place is a little harder to excuse ... At least they joke about it later.
I saved her on my first playthrough because the gun was a lot more useful right then. It also seems like a good idea to save somebody who already knows Lee's secret and trusts him anyway. I think everything gets found out eventually, so the less people I have to lie to, the better.
That scene was really all kinds of messed up. Whoever you save, they dash out and leave you alone to save Clem. Total jerks.
Cuz she had the gun, that was pretty much it. It was such a split second decision I thought maybe she could help me save him but it was not meant to be.
I saved Carley because she saved my ass previously when that zombie jumped Clem in the drug store. Wishful thinking had me hoping her gun could save Doug too.
Also, she was real cool about keeping the whole 'convicted murderer' thing on the down-low.
Either way it was a damn tough call to make as they both seem to be super friendly, super useful characters to have around. Personally I really enjoy those difficult split-second decisions with no obvious right or wrong answer.
They're pretty equal in regards to humour moments with the characters. Doug had his in regards to his beloved laser pointer, which I found hilarious.
Also, interesting that physical attraction factors into whom should survive, there! That might not be in your best interests at the end of the day. >_>
I'm half way through my doug playthrough, but so far, Carly came to my rescue at the car with her gun, while Doug was nowhere in sight. Physical attraction can be part of it, but what of the trust she gives in keeping Lee's secret? My Lee is taking a liking to her character, hoping she can be a LI. It will be all the more terrible if she get's killed off, where Doug I wouldn't be as sad.
Also, I liked the dialogue with Carly when they first arrive at the Dairy Farm a lot better. She reassures Lee he's not a terrible person for the murder, and says she trusts him enough to be their leader. It's up to you to decide who you like better, but don't think I chose to save her simply because she was a damsel in distress.
She knows how to shoot. I think that counts for more then being able to program a remote. I have zombies chasing my ass not rogue tv's.
Exactly! I chose Carly originally because she was a good shot. But I did hate having poor Doug die....I need to do a walkthrough with Doug during episode 2.
I saved Carley, because she's a gal. And yes, I could now add that she can use a gun, but I didn't save her because of that.
"women and children first" ... that's how it was and that's how I would lie about my motives. The fact is though that she would (to me) be preferable to romance, than Doug :P
Why I save Carley?
hmm... (really thinking, been a while...)
1. She's interesting, I like to see where her knowing Lee's secret will go from there...
2. no offense to Doug, given the choice would had saved them both.
3. Doug had the look... lol
the look any guy may have, I can't live without that girl... go save her Lee save her...
seriously he's facial expression was like that, but I didn't notice it on the first playthrough, lol
4. sad to say but with all that to back up, in the end (the catalyst) its in the genes...
If I got lots of cons against her first, than even that gene won't make me save her...
(I think, lol)
if it were me, u know what I'd do?
Lee: "Clem pass Carly her purse" (if too high, just knock it down for Clem or grab & pass to her hands)
Than head to Doug & pull him back...
Too fast to think? maybe, but personally in his shoes, when holding the door back, my eyes will still be looking around my surrounding thinking what to do next (friends say I think too much...)
I can watch a show, play a game, talk to someone & eat at the same time, lol
(not simultaneously with the eating & playing of course, when I got time I grab a bite)
I may have noticed the purse (since I'm looking in that direction when holding the door) & that she keeps bullets in them when they preparing for battle
on several occasions, someone was looking for something & I just pointed it out blindly where that item is.
I never knew where it was until just a minute or longer ago passing by that room & I saw it just a few seconds as I pass by it minding my own business. dunno how to ignore stuff...
people can't surprise me on my birthday
unless I am seriously distracted...
Few reaasons...
1. She was good with gun
2. My lee had thing for her and likes her
3. Also she knew your secret kept it for her self seemed trust worthy
I kinda hope by saving the other guy you get different benefits..
I could see the nerdy dude coming in handy to fix stuff or set up a strong camp but clary is better just shooting and holding line so ether way.
I picked her because I knew more about her than I did Doug at the end of Ep 1, of which she saved Lee's life and Duck's as well. I'd have saved Doug, but the way he was trying to hold the window kind of made him as stupid as Carly with the batteries... Albeit with worse results.
Lets see, the drug store is being overrun by zombies. Either save the tech guy who knows how to reprogram a remote to a TV or the reporter who is clueless about battereies but is a deadeye with a pistol? Yes, Carly being cute and female is an added bonus but her knowing Lee's secret makes the story more interesting. I'm glad to have her and her gun around.
I chose Doug over her purely because she knew about Lee's past, I'm sure she'd have tried to use that against him or tell someone else so it was an easy choice for me.
Doug, because he just needed pulling away from the window and Carley may have reached the ammo without my help. Main goal was to save them both, not pick the one I like the most, unfortunately it's not possible to do of course but you do what you can and hope for the best.
I picked Doug, just cause Carly had a gun pointed at the zombie's head and I thought she could handle herself. I didn't realize she was out of ammo until she was already being eaten.
I'm not sure if I would choose her over Doug, even knowing she would die, though. Doug is pretty useful, Carly really just had a gun, which isn't too great anyway.
I still think Carly is an idiot beyond the battery thing though. Why in the world would you put the ammunition in your purse... and then not bring your purse with you! Not to mention she could have kicked the zombie grabbing her and escaped on her own way.
Chose Doug because in a Zombie apocalypse, being able to fix a car to get it started is much more important than being able to shoot a zombie. Being able to distract zombies with only a remote is also a very handy skill- Shooting them would only attract more attention, and possible make an entire horde converge on your location. But, really, I just liked Doug more.

Agreed. I was thinking she could've kicked him as well. They don't move that fast, especially not while crawling. Doug was in the worst situation.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking: Doug was pretty much immobilised and unable to do anything while Carley just had the one zombie on her leg and still had options to act by either kicking the zombie in the head and holding it off or getting to her purse, so acting with no personal preference between the characters I felt that it was best to go help the guy who appears to be in the more urgent situation and hope that the other one is able to keep the zombie off long enough for us to get to them.
Personally, I think Carley dies because she makes the mistake of going for her purse instead of trying to kick the zombie off. She seemed too focus on it, possibly because she had become too reliant on her gun, and didn't seem to consider other options. Of course, kicking the zombie in the head might not have worked either, she may have just ended up with bites in her ankle, and they were both scripted to die if we save the other one anyway.
-She has a glock and knows how to use it
-She seems like an interesting character
-She Seemed trustworthy
-We got more conversation time with her than with Doug
-I know nothing about Doug
1. She might have a gun, but what happens when she's out of ammo, or they are overrun? No technical knowledge means small chance of escape. Also, I doubt Doug wouldn't be able to handle a gun should he be given one. He'd either learn fast, or die.
2. She does seem interesting, but to generic for my taste.
3. I didn't get the feeling she was trustworthy. She threatened to use my secret against me if I fucked up. I want to tell the group myself. I'm actually surprised I haven't been given the option to do so yet..I don't want it to come back and bite me because I didn't tell anyone.
4. Don't know a lot about Carley either. We know she can use a gun, and we know what her job was. We know Doug worked for IT or something, and he is handy with electronics.
Comments
Male: Lee, Kenny, Larry, Duck
Female: Carley, Katjaa, Lilly, Clementine
So that is 4 males and 4 females. At the end of Episode 2 it is still even because

nuff said.
We respect that you are gay, but you should respect that we are straight.
too assume he's not a male chauvanistic pig and so he must be gay?
NICE ONE..

4. Doug was a geek
I'm not sure if I would choose her over Doug, even knowing she would die, though. Doug is pretty useful, Carly really just had a gun, which isn't too great anyway.
And she has a gun.
Not to mention that she seems to have a thing for Lee. Hey, even during the apocalypse guy wants to score some poontang, right?
Yeah, and not the necrophilia kind
what he said

Not my fault shes not quick with the gun
