Possible Romance?

edited August 2012 in The Walking Dead
After browsing the forums, it seems like I not the only one whose considered a possible Lee/Carley relationship.

They seem to get along together better than anyone else in the group, Lee even has some playful banter with her in the end.

It wouldn't be that strange, in the comics people seem to hook-up all the time. If they did possibly go with that direction, I wonder what they would do with Doug to make it fair, no offense, but I don't see Lee ever going that way (again no offense).

Thoughts? anyone else think that this might happen if Carley isn't killed off in the foreseeable future?

I'm just a sucker for post-apocalyptic romances.

I think I do see something here. Carley trusts Lee and during the walk to the farm, if you tell the brothers that you are the leader of the group, Carley will look to the side and smile to herself. I hope this turns out to be a relationship.

I really really really really hope theres a scene where carley offers to let lee come spend the night with carley {implying sex], read a bedtime story to clementine, Toast smores with kenny duck and kaatja, help doug build defenses, play some sports with ben, or patrol with lily.

Yep, there's definitely something there. If there's an option for it, romancing Carly is top on my list, it will just make her eventual death all the more saddening. :/ Maybe they will surprise us and keep the "expendable" characters until the very end.

Implying sex is the best that Telltale can go for. Remember, the game is rated Mature for intense violence, blood and gore, and strong language. We can't get anything sexually explicit here.

Aw, no half nude bioware-esqe love scenes for Carly and Doug?

bioware just went down hill with love scenes in DA3 it will be two characters going "we had sex it was good" "yes the sex was good"

I'm all for Carly / Lee too - but I doubt it will go down the route of romance. For some reason, Carly seems to be like a loyal soldier standing by Lee's side wherever he may go. Doug was loyal too - like an overgrown puppy. :D

But yeah. I would love to see more interactions between him and Carly. The Doug (this is the third time I almost spelled his name as "Dough"!) interactions were not as deep as the conversations Lee has with Carly, IMO.

So im not the only one who likes calling doug dough. I wonder how many people noticed Lilys interactions with clementine seem almost maternal.

With most of Telltale's games, the ESRB rates each episode separately. The first Strong Bad episode was rated T, but the rest were rated E10+. Individual Sam and Max episodes have varied between E, E10+, and T. The Back to the Future episodes were all rated T, but for different listed reasons. Was the Walking Dead supposed to be different? Did they say something about wanting to keep a consistent rating?

Maybe that's why she has such an anti-babykilling mindset.

Long live Dough boy! (or perhaps not, depending on one's choice in Episode 1).

Yeah, Lily's face softened when she was looking at Clem in the beginning of Episode 2. Also, she looked out for Clem at the barn after Lee decides to run off after Kenny.

I really like Lilly - but she might not be around in Episode 3, so I'm not sure if any attempts at getting in her good books will matter at all in the long run.

I'll tell you how the sex scene plays out. Carley invites lee back to her tent they go in and zip up the lights in the tent sillhouette the removal of carleys shirt and then lee shadow moves over hers realizing the sillhouette was no longer working the camera pans to the others. then the next morning lee is shirtless and we may see carleys bare back but not her ass or anything else then they get dressed.
  • edited July 2012
What so the others are just sitting outside their tent while they get it on?

I think the only thing that would keep Telltale from doing an explicit sex scene if they wanted to would be if it were off-license. Is there ever any nudity in the comic?

No, there were not any sexually explicit scenes. It kinda depends on your definition though, no full frontal nudity etc. There were several different relationships and it's implied several different times. There was one very brutal event involving the Governor that could be considered sexually explicit though.

That's not to say TellTale can't do something like that if it's important to the story. I kinda hope they don't though. I can handle the somewhat creepy tree house club, but I don't think I'd like to see the "waifu" types writing fan-fiction about murdering a herd of zombies while bumping uglies with their pixelated love interest.

I went to the Mass Effect 3 forums not long after I heard they were doing an extended cut of the ending. Some of the stuff I saw there about people's "love interests" was cringe worthy.

There is a lot of nudity in the comic(Michonne, Carol, Patricia...). So each episode has its own esrb rating?

There is nudity but never full frontal (Michonne and Rosita's butt IIRC). I was never a fan of Adlard's though. Wish Tony Moore could have continued.

Same here. Moore's drawings included the panels all lopsided(which I thought was unique), unlike Adlard's.

That's the way it normally works for Telltale. I guess I don't know about the Walking Dead. The ESRB website currently has two entries for the game. One is for Episode 2 specifically, and the other is just titled "The Walking Dead." I don't know if that one's supposed to be just for the first episode or the entire season. Neither entry has a summary, and they're both rated M for intense violence, blood and gore, and strong language. So who knows?

I love how detailed the panels were with Moore. I spent quite a while just looking at them. He also made the characters' faces unique. Adlard's faces all practically look the same to me.

What you don't want to see Lee/Doug slash on fanfiction.net?

    Joking :p

Honestly, I really don't see the problem of including one, If anything the Walking Dead is full of hook-ups, a lot of them you don't expect happening
Like when Carol tries to "marry" Rick and Lori, it made sense but I was seriously like WTF Carol?

If anything for them two to get together makes a lot of sense since people get together to handle the burden of coping with a situation that they're in.

You don't want want to die single do you? ;)

Man, I used to write those things for the LOTR fandom. If there is ever a Lee / Doug story, it is quite clear who will be on top of things. :D

I see a lot of trust between Lee and Carley. She makes it clear that she has Lee's back and encourages him to lead the group. I think this is a ray of hope that pretty much ensures Carley buys the farm next episode. Sorry.

I think she is going to commit suicide. Take a look at her reaction when Ben talks about his classmate who took the pills. Her reaction to this episodes cannibalism. Then during next episodes preview, she is seen with the group during the usual arguing, there is an unaccounted for gunshot that sounds like it came from a Glock. There are hints of the group splitting up as well but no Carley. She's not with Kenney in the RV and is conspicuously missing from the rail car with Lee and Clem. Hope I'm wrong.

As i see it TTG can either kill carley or have lily leave for woodbury but to get rid of both in one episode it's like youve learned to love carley and possibly lily since episode one guys so......FUCK YOU THIS IS FOR BITCHING ABOUT DELAYS

If I remember correctly while Ben is talking about virus, Carley is looking off into the distance and sees the St. Johns. We never get to see her reaction. I just hope Carley makes it to the final episode. After Clem and Duck, she is my priority. Also, one of my favorite characters!

Same, I really see potential with Lily too.
If not for "canon" with the comics (which I never read)

Its possible they split up later not because they stop loving but for whatever reason...

As I said, didn't read the comics, so dunno if she had a love one before or is she ever "pregnant"? :D

Btw, I believe she'll be around for all 5 eps...
she's the opposite side of the coin with Kenny. :D

I hope in a kind of romance but I don't think they will change the episode rating just to give us some "soft sex scene". I don't really think they will change the episode rating ever.
I know this sound illogical but there might be some law issue.

Right now we have a game rated M for intense violence, blood and gore, and strong language. People bought the game acknowledging the game has just these "features". People bought all the episodes, and unless in the user agreement there's a little note that states that "we could change the rating of future episodes, putting more controversial features at will", we won't see any kind of change.
    Why?
People might start ranting on "I never bought this game for sexual content! I don't want sexual content! This is a fraud!". Obviously this is totally illogical... but in term of laws, this might happen and TTG would be in trouble.
And if someone (there's a lot out there) wants a refund, this is the best way he might get it.
Think about it. You play all the 5 episodes, in the fifth episode we have a "soft sex scene" that label the game with "explicit sexual content". You ask a refund because "you didn't expect the game to have sexual content, and want your money back", and there you go: You played the walking dead game for free.

Or maybe I'm just a paranoid...

    @ TTG

Yes, a romance would be interesting between Carley and Lee. You could maybe have a walker disturb them, while they're at it or just show that an apocalypse doesn't mean that people stop "living". They would probably try to get what they can, right? Imply it and kill her off afterwards, if you have to :( you're so cruel.

I always wonder why to most people, romance means sex will be involved...
on screen I mean or even off screen.

they have all the time they want after they're done whatever the 5th part is about.
assuming the 2 survives & are still together.
