So how is cannon going to work for season 2? most popular decisions from season 1 or Tell Tale decides?

look the game can't end with 5 episodes there sooooo much they telltalle games can do with lee i was hopeing the walking dead would span 2 seasons of video games digtal or disk i just hope we don't have the same mess as season 1 video games

If it doesn't continue Lee and Clems story I wouldn't be interested. Just like I wouldn't be interested in The Walking Dead comic/TV show if Rick was killed off.

I don't know if they would be able to create a new set a characters that would compare to Lee and Clem.

If they continue Lee and Clems story most everyone else will be dead or gone off on their own.

And the story really is pretty linear. Most of your choices lead to the same outcome with slight variations. The biggest thing your decisions do is whether people are mad at you or not.

    Six seasons and a movie!

    But seriously, Monkey Island first.

Cannons would probably work the same way they did before the zombie outbreak. You load the gunpowder, put in the cannonball, and light the fuse. :p

Anyway, without getting anal over typos, there are three ways Telltale could solve the issue of connecting Season 2 to Season 1.

    1. Focus on someone completely new and ignore Lee's story entirely.

    2. Only reference general events, or phrase things in a way so that they're true regardless of choice (e.g.: "Remember when
    Kenny killed Larry?"
). While your choices cause some minor variations, the basic story is always the same.

    3. Figure out a way for Season 2 to remember your Season 1 save file. Wouldn't be the first time something like that happened.

    Six seasons and a movie!

    But seriously, Monkey Island first.

I know it's not easy to hear, but I think it's time to forget about Monkey Island. LucasArts clearly has no interest in letting it (or any of their other adventure IPs) see the light of day ever again. Really, just be thankful Tales happened, because even that much was something of a miracle. :(

So my day just brightened up when I read this.

    http://www.shacknews.com/article/74691/telltales-the-walking-dead-to-get-second-season-retail-box

Is this legit? If so, that means when we still likely be seeing Lee and Clem for another season!
  • edited July 2012
I see season 2 following the adventures of Lee and Clem as the only survivors. We know Lilly will be Woodbury-bound, and Doug/Carley will only likely survive if TT releases season 2 with ports that follow your choices from season 1.

I'm going to assume it won't feature Clem.

    Eh...I'm hoping that's not the case. :)
  • edited July 2012
If it does feature Clem, I hope it is set in the future, and you get to play as an older version of her, with her character having been directly influenced by the choices you made by Lee in the first game.

But if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

This. To me, the game is just parenting Clem while the apocalypse is happening. I can't see Clem growing up, joining a group, and leading it. What is that, skipping ahead 10 years?

I'm not one for shipping, but Carl and Clem could probably destroy the world together.

You don't see Clem growing up? You heartless monster!:p

It was just an idea - I think that continuing on the "Clementine-Lee" story-arc would be boring. I'd rather see future events, or deal with an entirely different group in a different setting.

I see where you're going with this. But in the Walking Dead universe, only around 15 months have passed in the comics(correct me if I'm wrong). Future events would be immoral. The thing that drives the survivors is that help will soon come. Skipping a few years would take the idea of hope out of their heads.

Yeah, I get where it wouldn't really be "Walking Dead" anymore. However, I don't think that there will be much to continue with (at least) Lee's story once we are done with this season. The only way I can see our decisions make any sort of impact on a future story, would then be to show us through Clementine how Lee impacted her life.

From a gaming standpoint, it's going to get really old, really fast to have Lee turn into "Rick 2.0". I would hope that they would use the games to show us a VARIETY of different hardships that people around the world are going through, not just a few people.

that would be pretty hard considering they havn't even gotten that far in the comics.

At the same time though, it will get very old very fast to see another group of people go through the exact same shock/discoveries of the zombie apocalypse.

Telltale really are going to need to work their magic if they want this series to stay fresh even with new people.

See, that's another problem. I know the whole point to The Walking Dead is to be "the zombie movie that never ends," but you can only make horrible shit happen to Rick and pals for so long until things get stale.

Telltale's managed to make things fresh again with the addition of interactivity, but if it goes on for long enough even that would get old. I'm not sure if I could take two seasons of The Walking Dead.

Then again, assuming that there are only 5 episodes in the presumed Lee/Clem story, I feel that this should go along with Kirkman's idea that things are supposed to continue. It would be interesting for Lee and Clem to go through as many hardships as Rick's group have.

Interesting. This would be the earliest Telltale has announced a second season for any of their series right? As for the second season, I can't complain because I'm certainly enjoying the game so far.

The only thing I am going to have to say about a season 2, while I know it may be harder or possibly even take longer to create. Id like choices to have a real effect on the game and story. While choosing who to save in episode 1 leads to new choices in two, regardless those are just "side events" from the main line.

Regardless, you end up at the same destination. Now maybe its a choice that is still possible, but Id like to for example really take Kenny up on his offer and leave the group and the next 3 episodes you meet new people or even spend the next one trying to return back to the group, where if you chose not to go you spend that episode taking on a new set of challenges.

....Basically like those "Choose your own path" books with the "choice A: Page 34, Choice B: Page 65"

I'm seriously getting confused. Is there going to be a "season 2" continuing Lee and Clem's life, or is there going to be a "new series" introducing new survivors?

I have an idea don't lynch me. What if Lee and Clem are the Kenny/Kaatja and Duck of the second season {cept less cowardly] with a new protagonist.

How about a prequel set hundreds of years earlier in which the zombie contagion is traced to an evil undead pirate?

"This will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do," said senior vice president of marketing Steve Allison in a statement to Eurogamer.

    Happy? :D

But..hey, does it mean that we will not have a proper finale for Season 1, just another cliffhanger saying "to be continued on season 2"? I really hope not. I hate games ending on cliffhangers.
I hope we will not have another ending like Tales of Monkey Island...

    this must be corrected!

I like the idea of a new protagonist with Lee as a cameo that can be fit in at different points depending on what your save contains from S1. Depending on when it happens, he could be a survivor of a crashed fishing boat or a survivor of Woodbury's crushing defeat.

it all depends on how they end the current season of the walking dead

Bring back Monkey Island! :) But seriously, the game was a success, right? I don't see why Lucasarts wouldn't want another season. I know there's been a change at the top of the company, but still.

    Is Telltale pushing for it?

On topic: I would love a second season of the Walking Dead, but I agree with what's been stated here earlier. We would need a new take on it. To follow yet another group going through this wouldn't feel fresh anymore. I'd probably still play it, though.

That could be a good idea, see what Lilly and her group did after Woodsbury...
