tell tale said FUCK YOU to any one that paid upfront and lied about the epp dates, bottom line they have there cash and dont give a shit about when it comes out

I can only wonder why posts like this were banned :)

All kidding aside. I would think thousands of people feel the same way.

I feel some of his frustration. I bought a season pass at full price for a game that was supposed to be a monthly update. Now the game has already been discounted once and will again before the entire thing is released.

So by being a loyal TT customer and preordering their product what did it get me?

Nothing more then the folks who bought the game at a discount off of steam.

It was released in May right? If they followed their monthly schedule it would be done September / October ish right in time for the new season of TWD.

Call it what you will. But I just feel like TT is dragging their feet. I still believe that porting the game for the IOS has slowed down the progress of the PC game. One of the TT reps emailed me that there was a seperate team working on the IOS release. I believe that. I also believe that since TT grew from a small company up it was not always that way.

They used to make a PC game, finish the PC game, then get it ready for everything else.

What I'm saying is their scheme was selling a catchy game then updating it in the following months.

I hope they get back to their roots and get on the ball with the release's.

I am curious about something tho that could be a 'partial' cause of the delays.

I have watched most of the Talking Dead episodes where the host talks to the game dev''s. their was something said about how they are tracking the decisions we as players make and that would affect the future of our game.

So, sounds to me like, part of the delay is, they are waiting on us to play the game, track our decisions, then adjust or impliment any changes or senerio's based on what "we" have done.

the game itself may be mostly completed in structure, but maybe there are parts of it, like the storyline that are left with 'loose-ends' so they can tweak later according to how people play it.

I know this doesnt ease anyones frustration in having to wait longer than the origional monthly advertised game, but if taking the extra time to develop a better product, then I'll deal with it.

Edited to Add: and wth is my forum pic?? I uploaded it weeks ago but doesnt show up under my name??

    *Blames TT*

Edited to Edit the Edit: NVM.. I had the pic as Profile Image, not Avatar!

    **Still blames TT tho**

flash-900 is a troll who ever it is does nothing but bitch moan and abuse ttg..

some of us forum vets have tried reasoning with 'it' but to no avail.

ttg have shown with the 'carley n lee' can you handle batteries scene at ep2 finale
they do listen and add in stuff

i hope for more of these like the 'brenda glitch' i know she's a walker but a reference to moving and being shot will do me :)

I'm not a big fan of the wait, but I'm also not particularly mad. It is what it is.

Honestly, I was a lot more irked by the PS3 save deleting bug. That...was an unpleasant surprise.

i wonder if it has to do with firmware versions ?

or remains of the hack ;)

Taken advantage of would be too strong for how I feel about it. I'm satisfied with the game itself. I was and am upset that I didn't get monthly releases like I was told I would when I preordered it. All of this would be acceptable as long as we would have had more open communication about it. That is something we *still* need. People who preordered on this site have access to a forum to talk to the devs. We got almost zero communication during the episode 2 delay on that forum. I expected a flood of updates and information somewhere on this forum, and we got next to nothing.

tldr: We need better communication in the future from the Telltale side of this relationship.

    No. This is silly.

Completly agree.... If they said upfront it would take a year to complete it would be silly. But I completly think that TT did a bait and switch to folks who pre ordered the game. That's harsh but it is what it is. The game was advertised during the preorder sale of having montly content updates.....

They tricked a good portion of folks by allowing us to think they could deliver a quality game quickly. So folks like me believed them and pre ordered the game. I bought the game thinking it would be done fast and on time. Then to top it all off after they say we messed up the product gets discounted around the time when the 2nd episode was released.......

You can defend the game all you want. It's very cool. It's very fun. It's everything I hoped the game would be..... But that's not what most people are complaining about.

Okay while the wait is annoying, i do not feel like i was taken advantage of. This is the reason they didn't lie to us they probably thought they could release the game updates monthly without delays unfortunately life happens and these games are coming out allot slower then i'd think they had hoped.

What i do think is a little unfair on there part is the lack of communication that they are giving us, they should tell us when they believe the games going to be released and if there are delays then it should be told to us why and how much longer they think it'll be.

But anyways with the steam sale lots of people get screwed over on it, buy a game a month before it get reduced it happens.

I don't feel as if ive been ripped off although i am disappointed on how long we have to wait between each episode 1 month is long enough as it is but when its going 2 months or more for every episode release it gets kinda ridiculous i feel like some of the Anticapitation from how amazing this game actually is gets lost over the 2 month break for another 2 hr episode dosent make much sense to me but thats my 2 cents.

The lack of communication from TTG is what hurts the most.
  • edited August 2012
lack of communication is what gets to me. I love this game i think its brilliant but its buggy as hell. deleting all my saves...i think TTG bit off a little more than they can chew with this game. Robert Kirkman shouldve gone with a game company better prepared and with more customer service experience...just my opinion though
  • edited August 2012
hell both episodes are free too psn members im just gonna toss that out there.
  • edited August 2012
I wonder how much crap Kirkman is taking cause of the way telllies games has mishandled and miscommunicatied about the game.
  • edited August 2012
Kirkman's too busy swimming in rivers of cash, a la Scrooge McDuck, to be bothered. ;)

False, they are free to PSN + members, which is a monthly subscription. AKA not free.

I don't think so. After reading all the letter hacks where he talks about merchadise and what not, I get the feeling he cares very much about his stuff and who handles it.

I won a zombie roamer action figure with my purchase of Issue 100. It's quality work and a McFarlane toy. This one's head splits open and shoots up brains when you push the knife in its back. The other (a lurker) has a detachable upper torso that turns it into a crawler.

It's nice to see craftsmanship in toys.

i don't see a problem with expecting a company to stick to their word

new users should understand what's going on

Exactally... As paying customers we have a right to voice our opinion I believe.

Disappointed sums it up for me.
  • edited August 2012
I registered just now to address this very issue, and was going to make my own thread, but I might as well just do it here...I very much doubt that the Telltale team pays attention to any of this anyway.

First of all, I understand that selling things like the season pass are sometimes necessary to get the funds needed to finish the later episodes. Its basically like getting a loan, or an artist or author getting a commission to create a painting or write a book. However, this is done with the understanding that the lender will be kept up to date of developments...its understood that you owe that person. I didn't even know the game wasn't finished when I bought it. I understand though that thats my fault for not going in and reading the fine print. I thought the next "chapter" unlocked after you beat the previous one. It didn't occur to me that someone might sell a full-priced game that wasnt yet finished (although this, unfortunately, seems to be a trend in the game industry right now, what with the myriad bugs and glitches present in most games upon release, as well as the host of the day-one DLC...). However, when I saw the schedule, I figured "Eh...its only a month." Then that date came and went, and you all know whats happened to this point.

But now I read that the price has been LOWERED for people buying it NOW? If ANYTHING, that shouldve been done for people who purchased the full game at launch, and who didn't get what they thought they were buying. When you lend someone money, normally even if they dont have it yet....you feel alright if they at least tell you whats going on. Its only when someone completely ignores you, that you get pissed off. Thats kind of how we're all feeling right now. Im not going to go all dramatic, and say that Ill never play a TT game again- because they tend to be good games. However, if I have an alternative, I won't. Its just seriously unprofessional. And then to lower the price for people who havent had to wait around and be patient for months...its really just mud in the face.

My suggestion is to start giving us approximations of the release date at least...i.e- 7 days, 10 days, two weeks. "Sometime around the middle of August" or "The end of July" is just not cutting it. If development hits a snag and something needs to be fixed before release...TELL US. We'd have infinitely more respect for that rather than taking peoples hard earned money, promising a product around a certain time frame, and then repeatedly reneging on that agreement. At this point, if I had a way to do so, I'd honestly just rather have my money back- pay for the two episodes and have that be that. Im just over it. It may seem like a small thing, but its really just an example of how companies feel that they owe nothing to consumers...not even an explanation.

And for those of us who did buy the full price season pass... If I were in charge of development for this game, Id start the process of creating a storyline for a free bonus chapter. It could take place after the last chapter, so as to not interfere with the already somewhat ridiculous delays. It could be 4 hours instead of 3 hours, and you'd be able to sell it to other people for the same price as the other chapters. You wouldnt even have to use Lee as the protagonist, if something ends up happening to him. Maybe two years later Clem goes to try to find her parents bodies or something, to bury them? If not something like that -to acknowledge those of us who placed our trust in you and have waited (somewhat) patiently for the better third or fourth of a year- I think you're going to have a lot of people who get rubbed the wrong way by this whole experience. At the VERY least, at least refund or credit those of us who paid the full $25 with the $10 difference...either back to our credit cards, or easier for you...credit towards another (ALREADY MADE) TT game.

Hopefully someone takes my suggestions under advisement, but I very much doubt it.

And if something like an extra episode isnt possible because of budgetary constraints...hell Id write the story. I just think these people are owed a little something extra for the extra theyve had to put in.

What's funny is hearing people complain that they should have waited for all episodes to release before releasing the game.

This doesn't make any sense at all. If you truly feel that you should wait until you can play all episodes without delay, then all you have to do is wait for episode 5 to be released before playing episode 1.

Oh wait, you're all too impatient to do that. This is why releasing an episode at a time as they are ready is actually good. It is your own choice to play them together, or an episode at a time if you don't feel like waiting for the complete game to be finished.

Personally I think having to wait between episodes helps keep the game more interesting. Think of it like a really long fight scene in an action movie. If the scene lasts too long, it eventually starts to get boring, or at least less exciting. The same applies to how awesome this game is.

hey there a sayin if noone complain then nothing gets done or fixed so complaining is well a necessity ,whining though thats a diffrent stoy people really need to pull up a freakin dictionary and relize there are 2 totally diffrent meanings to the words.

hell the wait isnt whats annoyin most people its the lack of communication and the failure to deliver on said times either way so far episode 3 seems to be ontime so far imo.

It was discounted in steam for a certain amount of time.

It is also available to PS3 plus members.

So the price has changed once for steam users. And if your a premium user and get that PSN plus account then you get it free as long as your a PSN plus subscriber.

I definately do. I purchased season pass after completing the first game. PSN clearely stated this would be released on a monthly basis. So when i bought the season pass this was a contract with Telltale games. i am seriously feeling ripped off right now and considering submitting a report to BBB. If they aren't able or willing to keep their end of the bargain they should let people know that before spending money on something that isn't being properly delivered.
  • edited August 2012
I don't mind that the games aren't released on a strict monthly schedule, anyone who knows anything about the development process strongly suspected this was an impossible goal.

What I do mind, is when the latest episode IS finished, and I, the one who bought it directly from TellTale's own site, don't get it for a few days because of some bullshit Microsoft clause while the Xbox players are enjoying their purchase. I'm sick of being treated second-class as a PC Gamer.

Sure. Why don't we all spam Telltale's communication channels with useless shit. The episode is sure to come so much faster if customer service has its hands full repeating that the episode was submitted to Sony and Microsoft and they're waiting to hear from them.

Release date discussion goes in the release date thread. As the discussion has obviously amalgamated with the original topic of this thread, I'm going to close this one.
