I think that the people that say wait until the final episode is done before complaining would still side with TTG at the end of episode 5 even if they are proven con artists. Not so much because they would want to mind you, but just to save face.
I don't have a dog in the fight anymore, my mind was made up long ago and I won't be changing it. They misrepresented their product. I won't buy anything else of theirs. Case closed.
So by your own admission even if those last two episodes prove you wrong you'll continue to side against TTG just to save face. Gotcha.

So even though the game is only HALF finished you have made up your mind? That is a bit silly because you are making your decision based on a half finished game which is the same as going to see a movie and walking out half way through because it is nothing like the trailer "suggested".
It would be better to wait till all 5 episodes are released before making a decision. Oh and before you ask TWD is my first TTG ever and I am in Europe so based on the way that TTG has given the EU bad communication over the release dates of Episode 2 and 3 I might not come back for season 2 making season 1 my first and last TTG if I decide not to come back.

1. If I go see a movie and I don't like it 20 minutes or so in...you bet I walk out or change the channel. Wait for another hour for what? It to improve? Not likely.
2. Not interested in revamping the argument. I've made my choice and no amount of baiting me about it will change that. Not interested in changing anyone else's mind either...that's up to each individual to manage.
3. I am only speculating on the behavior to come after the release of episode 5 based on the amount of justification, reading between the lines and benefit of the doubt expressed to this point on this board.

It just seems silly to me is all. I would rather watch the whole thing or play the whole thing and then make my decision if it was good or not and if things could have been done better instead of playing a bit of it.
An honest ad for The Walking Dead game would read:
"Clunky point and click adventure game with lots of button mashing, the usual bizarre key hunts (a sparkplug in order to break a window!) an interesting story, and limited choices the effects of which are confined within each episode don't work in the pc version, and primarily have to do with how people talk to you. No matter what you do, every episode begins and ends the same way. Just so you know."
Anyone else?
Lol so true, business would be a entirely different world if the business men from it acted at least half truthful...
And LadyJ I'm sure if episode 5 ends the same for everyone they will then say, well season 2 will probably branch out are choices more.
Fans of the game can't really admit or just don't want to admit the choices mean nothing and that bugs are present, you should do what I have done and if you suspect someone is just a plain old fanboy check their past post, if they constantly say the same thing, ignore blind facts and attack people who mention bugs BLOCK or IGNORE them.
Yes, you're very smart. Have a lollipop. Just because ignorant and ignoring are two different things doesn't invalidate my point. We can argue semantics, but I think the act of "ignoring" someone just because they have a different opinion of you is "ignorant" because you refuse to learn. For instance: that man who only listens to people who tells him what he wants to hear is ignorant. Ignoring: a one time dismissal. Ignorance: always refusing to accept any other view point, because you IGNORE it.
I'll repeat my question in words you can't quibble over: don't you think it's equally bad to counter people who refuse to listen to your points by ignoring theirs? Hence we end up with mass ignorance where everyone thinks what they want and ignores everything they don't want to hear.

You still haven't grasped what being ignorant means and seems often you use words that you don't fully understand when addressing posters and then when challenged you seem very peremptory.
You don't seem to like people making assumptions about other posters; yet seem to feel well within your right to do the same to others.
I never said that I will ignore people who refuse to listen to my points, I have interacted with many people who share different views to this game, would I ever ignore them?
No.
Did I ever state that I would ignore someone just because they have a different opinion to me?
No.
You may need some new reading glasses my friend or maybe I should lay out my post in a more simple form for you to get?
That sentence has nothing to do with me disagreeing with someone because they may like this game or share a different opinion, it has me blocking people who insult others other mention faults within the game.
It also proves you don't have any idea what ignorant means, you are very presumptuous and choose to take words out of context.
Really? You can only understand the most literal of definitions and NOW you can't remember your own sentences? Come on. Let me hold your hand and walk you through your own argument.
...if they constantly say the same thing, ignore blind facts and attack people who mention bugs BLOCK or IGNORE them.
That's twice I've led you to the root of this whole thing. You have said in plain English that you would ignore someone because they have a different opinion, then said that you wouldn't. If that's not actually true, I'll allow you to retract the sentiment, but it's the whole reason we're arguing.
Nope if you can read I said "I would ignore them if they constantly say the same thing, ignore blind facts and attack people who mention bugs BLOCK or IGNORE them."
Now If I said I would ignore someone because they had a different opinion to me it would read something like so...
"If they constantly say the same thing, ignore blind facts and go on about how great this game I would BLOCK and IGNORE them."
I understand the correct usage of words I'm sorry to say, spin this however you may but like I have stated and been quoted as saying and I wont ever change my opinion is I ignore people who continue to say the same thing over and over ignore and mock others for just mentioning minor problems or dislikes about the game.
Now you can try and skew my words to help you're argument but why would I really be here continuing this if you had not just taken my words out of context and then just [presume what you "think" about it was correct.
I am not arguing with you, just trying to defend myself.
Nope if you can read I said I would ignore them if they constantly say the same thing, ignore blind facts and attack people who mention bugs BLOCK or IGNORE them.

Wow. Those say exactly the same thing. If someone has an opinion that differs from yours, you ignore them. That's it. You've proven my point. Your word choice implies that you ignore them because they differ from your view point.
However, your dogged refusal to block me despite how much I disagree with your makes me painfully aware that you have no idea what it is that you type. You say one thing and don't recognize its meaning. You argue the literal meaning of words. You state in plain english that you will block someone of a different stance than you, but fight me tooth and nail. The more I read from you, the more I understand that you can't effectively communicate. If this is because you don't speak english as a native language then I retract all of my criticism. If you're young, I'll forgive it too.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Funny coming from a person who doesn't understand what ignorance means, you've called me an idiot during another thread and a extremist (incorrectly I may add)
You seem to love labelling people yet get outraged if someone else does the exact same thing... why is that?
Proving my point I have not blocked you just because we don't agree; I have stated and you have quoted me on it, I ignore the posters who attack others for different opinions.
I was going to ask you the exact same thing as I am sure you are either very young or you just haven't fully grasped the English Dialect.
I speak three different languages and am fluent in each...
Thank you for asking :-)
You have trouble understanding the meaning to certain words and still you can't seem to grasp the simple fact that if I ignore a poster who attacks another for having different opinions, this does not in turn equal ignoring a person because I am ignorant.
To put it in layman's terms for you - Poster "I disagree Ja1862 I love this game."
Me "Ok you are blocked because I disagree."
That my friend is not Ignorance that is Ignoring; so even if you take my words out of context like you have done, it is still not Ignorance as that is a lack of knowledge or information.
The more you post, the more I understand that you can't effectively read/comprehended different meanings and structures to sentencing and how wording can completely change a statement.

I don't get why you are telling us. Apparently the vast majority of us like the game a lot.
Why not tell your real life friends instead... you could warn them.
I got one for you; "Play the game and experience the depths of Human Suffering, visit the forums and experience the depths of Human Entitlement."
I get such a kick out of the handful of you who don't seem to grasp the importance and value of criticism.
If you go to a movie that has an interesting story but terrible cinematography and weak acting, are you obliged to pretend that the camera work was brilliant and that Traci Lords is a gifted thespian?
According to you, yes, yes you are. You guys crack me up.
The thing is, as I noted, all your approach allows you to do is complain about complaining; it leaves you unable to have any kind of reasonable discussion. You can't say "why", for example, button mashing is the best mechanic TTG could have chosen. It just seems silly to me is all. I would rather watch the whole thing or play the whole thing and then make my decision if it was good or not and if things could have been done better instead of playing a bit of it.
But, of course, she's not talking about playing "a bit" of the game, but rather three-fifths of it. Sixty percent of it.
The idea, too, that you don't dare talk about the sixty percent of the game you've already played, and must wait until you've seen the final forty percent before commenting on the first sixty percent is a bad joke, something that must have come out of the TellTaleGames talking points memo.
You realize, don't you, that no one does this? That in no other arena do people have to, for example, read the last 120 pages or a 300 page book before noting that in the first 180 pages the binding was crappy, the first chapter was slow, chapter three was great, chapter five was godawful, that most of the character development was poorly done...
Are you also expecting a radical revision of TWD's button-mashing approach to gameplay? A thoroughgoing rewriting of their approach to dialogue. Something to entirely replace the keyhunt approach to things like getting the train started? Please don't be disingenuous regarding these things.
You also don't believe what you're saying. After all, do you go around announcing to book clubs that they must stop meeting every week until they finish the book? Of course you don't. Stop being foolish.
But yeah, the forum is way too black and white. The game has its flaws and pointing them out doesn't make you a whiner. Arguing the other side doesn't make you a fanboy. I believe it was Aristotle who said "Can't we all just get along?"

You say that...
Even though you make rash presumptions about other posters yourself?
Even though you use words that you don't seem to understand to try and insult other posters who you have not agreed with?
Even though you turn a blind eye to a logical sentence, even after the poster has explained the difference between ignoring someone who flames others and ignoring someone who has different views to you?
If you want to beat a zombie with an umbrella, this is not the game for you. The Walking Dead brings you a story of survival and the people fighting for that one purpose. Few will achieve this goal, will you be one of the lucky few? We know Carley won't and for that many may not be pleased. But remember, there are plenty of fish in the sea. So, get over it and keep on livin'. Experience the thrills and chills of The Walking Dead. Coming soon to a PC or console near you.
Im pretty sure every type of zombie film/game involves living people trying to survive the dead...im glad you arent in charge of their advertisement. Might as well put the sky is blue in this game and people need food and drink to survive...

The game itself is fine, but an honest ad would read:
"Episodes released in an incredibly unorganised manner."
They seriously should've had a few episodes already in post-production before releasing Ep1. I really doubt their player feedback has made the most groundbreaking change to the direction of the story.
And I thought television stretched the audiences patience.
So by your own admission even if those last two episodes prove you wrong you'll continue to side against TTG just to save face. Gotcha.
the same story with a few different endings wouldn't prove that the decisions matter, it would just prove that they could have had choices that mattered all the way through but just didn't bother.
remember this is just about the advertisement that went with the game, they didn't advertise it as "a story that you can change the ending of" or "a story where you can choose the tone of the dialogue but not the story".
people love to use the word "entitlement" as a way to dismiss genuine concern or criticism, but that is just the equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and shouting "nah nah nah! i cant hear you"
if i sold someone a car and said you can choose between five different gears, but after they bought it it turns out that they are all the same gear, would it be entitlement to say it was false advertisement and want a gearbox with 5 gears that had different speeds and torques rather than the same gear 5 times?

THIS!
And ftr, I don't think it's possible for TTG to prove me wrong. I say that because it is not at all reasonable to believe that in the 11th hour (read episodes 4 and 5) TTG will miraculously produce the game they advertised.
It is really frustrating to see so much condescension and dismissal displayed towards myself and others who are not happy with what TTG advertised vs what they delivered. And I'm not going to dumb that down and say what they have delivered to date.
That's part of the problem. The other side keeps saying wait until the end wait until the end. Well, that would be great if the end was a standalone game. It isn't. Each episode is part of the whole. I should absolutely be able to judge each episode individually as well as judge the whole thing. And I reserve the right to state that the individual episodes to this point have not lived up to their advertisement claims.
I'd really like someone to post a link to one of Telltale's ads so I can see exactly what they say, compared to the myriad ways people have interpreted them. From what I can recall, they advertised a game where you can make choices. And I really don't think they went any more in-depth than that.
Either way, your opinion is your opinion. I'm not going to condescend to it, but I am going to remain confused as to why people -- who have clearly written off the game completely, per their posts -- continue to come here and re-make their points over and over again. Your life is your life, but if I were as dissatisfied as some of the other posters are, I would have moved on to a different game by now. I wouldn't be posting on the message board for a company that made a game I hate.

For me personally, it's because I love this game.
Now, there's a difference in loving the game and hating the way it was marketed and how it's being released. You can love a game, and still hate the company that makes it.
In my case, I come on here and state my opinion on how crappy telltale has been with this game because i'm hoping that things will change when they see how disgruntled their fans are and how that could cost them sales in later seasons down the road.
If they would just UPDATE us on what the hell is going on, that would be enough for me.

I work in marketing, so I do have some sympathy for TT about how people are interpreting their marketing materials. Sure, there's something to be said for an ad that's intentionally or purposefully misleading, but the company's marketing department was tasked with highlighting innovative elements within the game. So that's what they did -- they focused on how the choices in the game can shape the story. Whether the choices do matter is up to each player, I guess.
I do agree that the delayed releases and lack of communication are annoying, and TT should totally fix that sort of thing moving forward. But I strongly, strongly doubt -- as I've seen some imply -- that TT blatantly lied about a monthly release schedule. Creating a game with this many individual script permutations sounds like a really, really challenging task. They probably thought they could pull it off monthly and later realized they were wrong. If TT were more open with fans, I don't think people would be as disgruntled.
Either way, they've been more solid with their updates lately, so they've definitely heard the complaints.

Ignoring = Knowing, but not bothering to do anything about it.
Please stop insulting people with words you don't really know the meaning of.

Even though you turn a blind eye to a logical sentence, even after the poster has explained the difference between ignoring someone who flames others and ignoring someone who has different views to you?
You are very hypocritical.
And who the hell is Traci lords btw?
So well put, sir

Im pretty sure every type of zombie film/game involves living people trying to survive the dead...im glad you arent in charge of their advertisement. Might as well put the sky is blue in this game and people need food and drink to survive...
Thank you.
I thought it was Rodney King. Perhaps he just repeated it.
"Episodes released in an incredibly unorganised manner."
They seriously should've had a few episodes already in post-production before releasing Ep1. I really doubt their player feedback has made the most groundbreaking change to the direction of the story.
And I thought television stretched the audiences patience.
the same story with a few different endings wouldn't prove that the decisions matter, it would just prove that they could have had choices that mattered all the way through but just didn't bother.
remember this is just about the advertisement that went with the game, they didn't advertise it as "a story that you can change the ending of" or "a story where you can choose the tone of the dialogue but not the story".
people love to use the word "entitlement" as a way to dismiss genuine concern or criticism, but that is just the equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and shouting "nah nah nah! i cant hear you"
if i sold someone a car and said you can choose between five different gears, but after they bought it it turns out that they are all the same gear, would it be entitlement to say it was false advertisement and want a gearbox with 5 gears that had different speeds and torques rather than the same gear 5 times?
...or at least competent mental capacity.
