Its one of the most humorous point and click advents that has action.. puzzles.. shooting (top/side shot as seen)
It was original foreign but was released officially here.. Ill say its around 2000( its not exact but that would give it away.)
As far as I know the devs only made one other game so maybe ill bump this to an 8.
Could have sworn more people played it with such positive reviews
Ok one more screenshot but the cigar guy should give it away if you ever played it
has a hammer and sickle day/nightwatch... only with alot more adventure clicking and dialog.
I wasnt stumped on the last one just giving it a break for others to get.. but no offense..
shadowcaster.. origin games..
totally fun but not very rare.. hell even like cybermage woulda been harder to guess
Shadowcaster reminds me of lands of lore with a ultima underworld like feel. Great game :P
PS you play this kind of game on other forums? if so Id love to join. Im always down.
Kaldire: I've played this game on forums for about 5 years. I started on the (now dead) AGI forums over at Mega Tokyo. I recently started a new game at http://www.freehare.com
ack I am getting old.. Ok since its a series Ill throw the newest one in the series up
this game series spreads from 85-03 I think.. could be 2004 idk. Reguardless its not the same game but if you can even guess the series it will count.
Very close to dnd but not quite.
I only post games I would play or have recently. Never a random obscure shot just to confuse.
Ok an easy one then
Kaldires Difficulty Meter Rating 1..
Still play this game and its offspring, im sure most of you will get this. If not all. :P
The Bard's Tale!
I mostly played Bard's Tale III - in fact one of my friends had a wonderful disc error (on a C64 5.25" floppy) that converted one of his characters into a virtual God mode with 9999 for all stats (called Raistlin, so we kind of figured it must have been some sort of evil magic, like the character from the Dragonlance books himself). What was even better is that we could actually copy this character to all of our own parties, and he retained all the super-abilities, so it made our parties virtually undefeatable
I also purchased the Bard's Tale Construction Kit, but it was incredibly long and painful creating a decent dungeon that I don't think I ever finished it...
Kaldire's got another screenshot as yet unanswered, so we'll leave that one for the next guess
yep thats correct. I just gave 2 shots of 2 different bards tale games :P all I was trying to do was wake people up to knowing it was a bards tale game
its on you now molokov :P
Grats
and nice eye on the new bards tale allenb
Hmm... it's too high res to be Discworld 1, but it doesn't look cartoony enough to be Discworld 2. I'll venture a guess and say either it's Discworld 2 or you're fooling us and it's some art someone did for the Discworld MUD or something
I once saw it titled "Discworld 2: Mortality Bytes"
I think that's the US title. Missing Presumed's the British / non-US title.
I loved Discworld 2, it was first (or one of the first) point and click game I ever played. Most of the jokes went over my head seeing as I was about 8 at the time, and had just got the PS1 to play it on, but that just makes it even more fun to come back to ten years on.
The Mortality Bytes title was used in the US, because apparently Americans (or maybe just their game publishing companies) haven't heard the phrase "missing presumed dead" or other such common place phrases such as "philosopher's stone" or "northern lights"
[Of course, then again, there's a whole bunch of US films that get renamed when released in Australia for no apparent reason, even when the 'phrasing' of the original US title would make sense to the average Australian - we do know quite a bit about American culture from TV/Movies, you know.]
I'm originally from Britain, and that is where I saw the Mortality Bytes box. It was in an EB store in East Kilbride, long ago in 1997 when I bought LBA2.
and let's not forget Faust being renamed "7 games of the soul" because "american's wouldn't know the story of Faust" or some such nonsense.
A lot of games are renamed in america. Omikron became Nomad soul (which is a better name), Another code became Trace memory, Project Zero became Fatal frame (which makes more sense given the premise)
Actually, that could be an interesting thread.. ahhahah. Titles games and films and books are altered to for various markets. I know in German Angela's ashes was translated to "the ashes of my mother".
I suppose the golden compass makes more sense than northern lights as a title but still... I prefer Northern lights, it's a better sounding title. In terms of the series having a theme it should be golden compass to go with the theme of the books being named after items but eh. Why was it changed? you cannot tell me america doesn't know what the northern lights are

I don't see how "The Golden Compass" makes sense... because the Alethiometer is NOT a compass. It doesn't point north, it measures the truth. Compass != Meter.
Comments
It's probably a bit easy, and I didn't actually let it load fully before taking the screenshot because I'm impatient, but...
Grow island...
Somone post a new one for me, gonna be away for a couple of days...
Just kidding...
No idea what game it is though.

A classic and one of my fav, not as well known sierra titles.
Here is a great game I recommend to anyone who likes humor with action/rpg elements in an adventure game.

It's Muppet Treasure Island! That parrot gives it away.
Now here's one that stumped everyone on another forum I frequent.

Edit: I'm not asking this to be critical. I just have no clue as to the last few game screens you've posted.

Full title please - and because there's variation, pick the RIGHT one
Your avatar was a hint, too
Gamespot have it listed as that, but when you actually click the page the title changes!

It's "Discworld II: Missing Presumed ...!?"

In any case, we're going off on a tangent.
Haggis's turn to supply a screen shot
This was a great game :P I've not managed to find it online though.
