Girls like Ben to the point where they make fanfictions and put themselves in it so they can be Ben's girlfriend >.>

and according to one of the comments in the third picture, apparently Travis has a few girls that like him as well.

Why? I don't get it. At least with characters like Cloud Strife or Leon Kennedy I can understand why girls would be into them, they are badass and have desirable traits.

What the heck is so appealing about Ben to girls?

    Good pixels, I guess.

Maybe they're dominate women and like the idea of a cowardly, wimping guy who will submit to them.

For those few who like Travis, it's because his dad is special forces.

If that were true, then where are MY women? Maybe we'll just never know the true answer...

Girls like boys that live on the edge, that are dangerous. Ben is literally the most dangerous person I've ever seen, so there you go.

It's because he's like the only teenager in the group. I'm certain if there were more teenagers, specifically that are more attractive, then Ben would get no love.

But he isn't the only teenager ever in a video game >.<

Yeah but in this game, he's the only teenager. Girls that are fans of the game are naturally going to find him attractive (it's not like he has much competition, aside from the ever handsome Lee. Think about it, tell me one male character that can be seen as handsome that isn't Lee). I doubt his fame is that great that it would rival that of Leon or Cloud. His fame is reserved for those that are fans of the game.

More handsome than Lee? I dunno, Shawn maybe?

Because no one liked him in the game? And they felt sorry? I don't know.

According to The Walking Dead Confessions, about as many people like Kenny. Seriously though, the power is in his moustache.
  • edited April 2013
Maybe because he just looks like he needs a hug, and be told that everything will be okay, and they want to be the person to do that

I would prefer Lee, but I would take him out of the picture, because he's technically me, and that would be weird. If I were a character in the game, Lee .

Because he fails at absolutely everything, but has a heart of gold.

I'll illustrate my point by comparing it to the girls:

    - Carley, can't put batteries in a radio but has a heart of gold
    - Lilly, worst leader in the world but has a heart of gold
    - The chick at the inn who I can't remember the name of
    - Molley, pickaxe ninja who doesn't talk much
    - Christa, pregnant woman who cares more about her husband and Clem than herself
    - Katjaa, mother who continually try to patch up people she has no real reason to care about
    - Brie, cancer victim who compromises her safety to help her group

Most female character discussions are either fanfics with Carley or trying to explain that Lilly wasn't an asshole. Go figure.

    Lilly? Heart of Gold? What?

I agree with a few things said, actually. In particular, the girls being more dominant and being attracted to more subordinate guys. The other in particular being that he is like the only teenager in TWD game. But it could also be the girl-versions of white knighters. :P You know, even women can want to fix broken, (questionably) good-lookin' things lol.

HAHAHAHA. And wtf guys? I come back from days off the forums and THIS is what I see? o.O Is this really what we've succumb to? Ben!? Kid would be better tying sausage links around his neck in truth lol. Even in some of the most famous fanfics, Ben is the one who screws up everything and dies a meaningless death. Just... seriously? lol

Ben's death is never meaningless, it's a fact that any group he's part of is always better off once Ben dies, afterall. :p

The most funny thing is that...

Everybody loves Kenny. Everybody loves Carly. Everybody loves Clem. Etc.. etc.. And if someone says something bad about these characters, they'd be flamed instantly. And that's norm.

But if someone loves Ben, people find it stupid or start questioning why.
I myself like Ben as a character and I was sad when he died. Some people love one character(good or bad/strong or weak) more than others. So get over it.

IMO this was a stupid thread to begin with..

I'll probably get flamed for posting this lol, so.. *grabs popcorn*

I liked Ben as a character too, and dropping him was actually the ONE choice in my ENTIRE game that I regretted enough to want to go back and change. But the jokes need to be made.

I hated him and dropped him, just after the button was pressed I regretted that decision. And the fact, that he didn't die on impact didn't exactly make me feel better. Thus on my second playthrough I did not drop him, and I got to hear his little speech about his family in the garden, and it made me realize that, although he has his issues, he is a really cool guy, who was pushed around and humiliated. I am sure, if he had a mentor, who helped him and encouraged him, and took care of him, he would have been more helpful.
The boy's got a heart of gold.

It's not our fault he's such a joke if comes to protecting someone, or getting something done

him leaving Clementine behind for the walkers to chomp didn't really help his character neither. Who the hell does that? Leave a little girl behind to die? He could had EASILY grabbed her and run. But nope, Ben is useless. Plan and simple. That is why I am surprised he has fans, whats next? a group of people who like Larry?

This is quite possibly the most incorrect statement i have ever read. Have you SEEN the "F*ck Kenny thread?" And there are certainly no shortage of people who make it loud and clear they chose Doug instead of Carley.

Ben is just a kid a scared shitless kid, who lost everything or didn't even get to know what happened to his friends and family, he ends up with a group of strangers trying to fight off a ZA how depressing is that? Anyway I don't hate him I always tried to support him, despite him doing stupid things like giving away supplies to the bandits (although he had a good reason he thought he was going to save a friend) and when he cowardly left Clem for the walkers... I only forgave him for that because he's still young if it was an adult I wouldn't forgive or forget.

Ben has fangirls? Next time let's go to the crappy planet where I'm a hero!
  • edited April 2013
I think my problem with Ben was that it started to feel like every scene went out of its way to make him look worse. Every scene.

The trade with the bandits was probably the most realistic mistake he makes, and seeing his reaction to everything falling apart because of his fear to tell anyone actually did make him sympathetic in my eyes. But then he leaves Clementine in the street, starts to act like he can't be arsed to keep an eye on her when Lee asks where she is, and don't get me started on him unbarring that door...

If we had the chance to see him do something as simple as trying to pull Clementine to safety or even act brotherly towards her, that could have helped balanced out his incompetence. As is, he just came across as selfishly cowardly most of the time, on top of making increasingly stupid decisions.

    Beeen~
    The kid they call Beeen~

He stole from the group, and he feared for his lie~
Saw Clem in the street, but he left her to die~

Our contempt for him now, ain't hard to explain~
Watching Ben try, it just ends in... paaain~

Er, you have to understand why people are like that though... Ben is an easy character to hate for the things he's done.

More like a reasonable character to hate for the things he's done. The fucker even gives you attitude for being an inattentive arseface himself.
