No it changes to the old man. Do Russell's play through first, and when Nate ask if they should "kill these guys and take their stuff" respond with the "I... yeah sure..." option. Then the old man will be a watchdog with his wife instead of the cop.

    No. It changes.
    Same happened with me.

First time I've played, decided to leave Nate.
When playing Shel's history, the watchdog was the cop.

Second time, decided to keep Russel with Nate.
When playing Shel's history, the watchdog was the old man.

My theory is: when Russel leaves Nate, we don't get to see Nate killing the couple... we just hear two shots. Maybe, Nate killed the old woman, but got killed by the old man. If we let Russel stay, we got to see Nate killing the couple and that's why the old man is a watchdog.

So I just played through 400 days, and I read about half way through this before I got too excited that maybe I thought of something no one else had yet, has anyone thought that maybe it was Eddie and/or Wyatt that shot the old lady at the gas station that became the guard dog for Becca/Shel's group? I also read that in the ending credits there's a picture of Eddie holding up the cop, and Eddie says that he shot someone by accident, right? I can't remember if he specified a gender or not. I'm gonna play through it again but I was wondering if anyone else could confirm?

The old lady was shot originally by a group of guys in "masks", around the time of Russell's story. She was then shot again by "Telltale won't let you shot me" Nate.

Eddie shot Nate's original partner during day 40. Nate is the guy Eddie complains about being "nuts" and "not wanting that guy in my life". Eddie also calls the person he shot "a guy".

As far as the cop goes, he is the person that Eddie hits in the fog, and is also the older cop during "day 2" in Vince's scene. He is also the second "guard dog" used by Roman's group if you don't stay with Nate as Russell. If you stay with Nate the "guard dog" will change to the old man.

Oh, and Wyatt/Eddie's car is parked at the gas station. I don't know all the day counts and stuff. I'm gonna pay more attention to that on my next play through.

I see, thank you for clearing up the details. I kinda feel the "old partner" thing might still be speculation since I don't recall Nate saying anything about having a partner before, or did he? I also thought the old man indicated one person coming and wearing a mask, so theoretically it could have been anyone, although Nate does make the most sense. But Eddie/Wyatt's car is seen there. And as someone stated, when Wyatt/Eddie are initially running from Nate, the Gas Station sign can be seen in the fog (I haven't seen this myself, have!'t done my replay yet), so to me this still indicates that as a possibility. I dunno. Just thinking that could be a possibility, given all the times Wyatt/Eddie are noted around that gas station specifically.

Lulz, yes he does.Tbh,that's the only reason I saved Justin in my game..

The old guy at the gas station thinks that Nate is a guy wearing a mask that already came to the place before. Is it possible that Nate is one of the bandits from season 1? There isn't enough evidence to support that, I guess.
  • edited July 2013
Another thing. In Bonnie's chapter, why is she wearing clothes that are VERY similar to Carley's? I mean they look EXACTLY alike.

Yeah, I didnt see the cop at all, maybe because I never got out of the car.

I may have missed it, but anyone think the masked shooters are Savelots?

Yeah, and I think Nate was lying about not being there before. I think Nate was a Save-lot bandit

We really don't know where Savelots is in comparison to Gil's. Technically we don't even know where Gil's is in comparison to the Motor Inn, the St. John Farm, or anything else from season 1.

In fact if the Pitstop is the place that Kenyy talks about running away from after a "crazy man tried attack Duck" I think it's safe to say it is far away from Hershel's farm at least.

So I doubt that it's the Savelot bandits. Now the next question is was it Nate? I honestly also find that unlikely since the old man says "Bandits" specifically, and to our knowledge Nate hasn't had a partner since Eddie killed him. Since he only has one gun it's unlikely he had one earlier in the day he meet Russell either, because I don't see Nate as a guy who wouldn't steal from a downed comrade.

The bandits realistically could be anyone. Even the cancer survivors and Roman for all we know. We are never told when they discovered the place, just that when Roman got there the old couple were dead.

All we can say about the Pitstop for sure right now is that it became overrun by day 400.

If you get out the car, the body Eddie hits turns out to be the cop. Even if you do stay in the car, the credits show Eddie helping the cop with Nate in the background

I have thought of it during my first play through. Seeing that the Nate is near the area whereDoug/Carly body is at, it is likely though Nate appears to be a loner whereas the Savelot guys weren't. However, both the Savelot guys and Nate are psychopaths.

The model is similar, but I wouldn't say completely the same.Stephanie,on the other hand, uses the exact same model as Carley just with much longer hair and a little different skin color.I wonder how all these Carley-fans haven't noticed that already. :P As well as Leeland is the same voice actor as Andy,I think. :)
    But yeah,Roman is very similar.

Really, I do not see the whole Carley aspect because Stephanie looks like the walker Lee killed in front of the Marsh House, the first one he kills, the one I believe was a contest winner.

For the uk people who didn't play this game yet, don't look.

It seems that if you were Russell and agreed to kill the old couple and let Eddie outside while you stay in the car as Wyatt, the two walkers who appear in Shel's story are the old couple. Otherwise, it would be the cop and the old lady.

Yup, this is correct. There was already discussion about this in another thread, but I forget which one

oh and if you are in russell's story during the part where you ran to the gas station and had to run back to the car, if you responded to Nate with "i'll get shot" he says something that no random person would know. That is, "Don't worry, this guy can't shoot a gun for shit!" there's no way he would know that and not bother to help Russell unless he was in a shootout with him before.

The old man only shot two bullets when the two arrived and the first one successfully hit the car while the other could've been used to scare them off. There is no way he could guarantee his aim was bad if he only seen those two shots.

Nate is also bisexual, for if you chose to not look at Nate, he would grab your chin and rise it up gently like a couple would do.

How does that make Nate bisexual? That's more of a parenting/fatherly thing to do, and they were in the heat of the situation. Maybe Nates one of those people who has to touch things? Lol

I loved that moment. I liked Carley, but couldn't help but cringe at all the people crying so hard about a character who barely had any influence on the story. I mean after saving her, she hides for most of episode 2 (for less double-character writing) and then gets offed in early ep3. People got obsessed despite a large lack of screen-time. I cringed even harder at the people making dumbass theories that she could still be alive.

That moment was like TellTale saying "LOOK! SHE'S DEAD! HERE IS HER NOT BEING REMOTELY ATTRACTIVE ANYMORE! DROP IT ALREADY!"

Um, she played just as much of a part as Doug did. Plus, she was useful, and one of the few people who actually trusted Lee, so of course people were going to like her. Same for Doug.

Now, I'm not saying people didn't think of Carley as their waifu, but those people are easily ignored. Honestly, Carley was a good character, who had potential, but her fate was to be likable...just like Doug. They were supposed to be extremely likable, so that when they died, it was a major shock factor. Which hurt a lot of people emotionally, which was the intent.

When people get that attached, they become depressed when they die. Then they're in denial, and that's when they start making crazy things up. It's human nature to do that.

It's very telling just how much Telltale was able to invade people's emotions.

And if they don't buy it you can fuck there shit up and then watch as they run away, because no one fucks with Tiny Carlos, he is the greatest bandit ever, for all we know he is Nate's boss.
