Howdy!

This thread is for questions focused on the new site. Throw them at me and I will answer them as quickly as I can. Also feel free to PM in case you do not want to post your question here for the world to see.

Feeling a little lost?
No problem! I am here to help. If you need help navigating the new site please let me know and I will do my best to point you in the right direction.

  • You see , people made fan fics on this forum . And now the bigger fan fics are cut in half . Is there a solution for that ?

  • How do you quote people in the old style threads? I've seen a couple being made in the "Whatever's on your mind" thread, but I can't figure it out!

You have to do it manually using markdown. You have to use the blockquote syntax now (like in e-mails). Use the > symbol where you want to make quotes. Like so:

I don't have any questions yet but I do have some points to bring up.

Firstly, as you may recall the Walking Dead forum has a spoiler-filled story discussion section. Since all forum sub-categories are currently displayed in unison at the main section, you may want to do something about the spoiler-filled story discussion and the spoiler free general discussion from intermingling too much should anybody spoil the story unknowingly for themselves.

Secondly, the subcategory section for the support section is extremely long and has cut off at listing support forums for only Walking Dead and Poker Night 2. Someone may want to go back and organize the support forum so that the sub-category listing is more organized.

Thirdly, I understand Bone and Telltale Texas Hold'em are likely too old and outdated to be worth the time for this, but I think it'd be nice to at least see a "Telltale Classics" or "Telltale Heritage" section where you could put the old titles up on the Games page. (Also, only Poker Night 2 is linked to and even then I believe it's only to other stores. I'm sure some people would still want to buy the original here even if they don't get TF2 items.)

How do you get rid of the "new comment" tags after you've viewed the new comments? Currently, it seems like they just stick around, inviting me to play some complex game of Memory. They give me disapproving looks when I eagerly click on a new comment thread only to find out that the new comment I thought I was viewing is, in fact, the comment I myself posted thirty seconds prior.

It more or less negates the function of having a new comment button if it shows up on every thread that has had a comment in it ever.

So how does that work with Notifications and stuff? I got a notification when you replied to me in WOYM, but I'm assuming if we use blockquoting we're just copy/pasting text?

  • Yeah, blockquoting is just copying and pasting text, but the forum software keeps track of where someone hits reply so that it sends out notifications. That still works in classic style threads, it's just that the software displays those replies by time instead of by to whom they are replied.

To PM someone you can either click on their name via the Forum or if you just know their username you can PM them by going to anyones profile and clicking the start new discussion tab. Once there, just enter in the name of the person you wish to contact.

Hey Debbie. Currently we do not have a clock settings feature implemented yet. This is something I will suggest at the next meeting we have. For now, we are going by our time (PST) for tracking purposes.

  • Why are there no polls?

  • JessW_TTGJessW_TTG Telltale Alumni

After viewing the old site and deciding what features we could cut, we came to the conclusion that the polls were just not a feature people were really using all that much. Maybe in the future if there is a enough demand for them we could have them again.

  • Was this even tested on iPhone? Doesn't seem like it. Nearly impossible to use on iPhone. Old forum was a breeze compared to this nightmare.

My question is: how do I get this to load properly on iPhone?

The site doesn't center now and I can't zoom properly.

  • JessW_TTGJessW_TTG Telltale Alumni

Hey Mtn Peak! Currently a mobile/tablet friendly site is in the works. For now I suggest using a computer to access all the sites features.

  • No, you should make it so the desktop view of this forum works on mobile devices. Many people prefer using desktop version even while on mobile devices, so we have full functionality.

Have you guys tried to do that?

In all honesty, this is the worst forum design for mobile device users I have ever seen. Even Craigslist (desktop view) is more usable than this.

The people responsible for this should hold their heads in shame. Seems like they tried to copy Facebook layout, but a dated version if Facebook. Not conducive to large posts. Would work better as commenting system for articles.

Please consider improving how your current forum loads on mobile devices, instead of just telling people to use PC's. This is 2013 and I think mobile device users deserve more consideration.

    I say this with respect.

JessW, I am not talking about a mobile version of the site. You should not need a special "mobile version" of a website in order to view it properly using Safari on iPhone. Are you following me? Are you one of the people responsible for this new site? The text overlaps with graphics on some of your games pages. Are you aware of this? That is not indicative of needing a "mobile version." That is indicative of mistakes in your web design and failure to test with iPhones. Have you looked at this site with an iPhone? Yes, mobile versions can sometimes make it easier to view certain sites, but it should by no means be required to use the site. As I stated earlier, many people prefer not to use stripped down "mobile versions" on their phones; instead, they choose to view the desktop version using their phones.

It's great and all that you are working on a "mobile version" (and why wasn't this done already?), but what you should not neglect is making sure this site is still usable by people with iPhones, even without the mobile version.

I'd like to know the estimated date for when this site (forum included), when viewed in "desktop view" will be usable by people with iPhones. Right now the centering is all off and zooming in and out is extremely difficult and often not possible.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you are listening to all this feedback more now than after it was previewed during beta.
