Quick question How likely is it that Telltale might give Steam keys out to those who preorder TWD Season 2 from Telltale like (I'm pretty sure they did) with TWAU?
Telltale does not do so by default unless they have problems launching the season premiere of the game on their own site while Steam users get it earlier. It's mostly a courtesy.

Yeah, but that was unfortunately the worst part of the reddit AMA.
We love Sam & Max and certainly haven't forgotten about them! I … morethink you'll see something smaller (more like Poker) than a full Season, and probably not for a bit, but we have NOT forgotten about them, we've just been super busy growing like crazy.
Telltale was always "super busy growing like crazy". If they can't do Sam & Max again during a time of growth, I don't know when. They certainly won't do it during a time of stagnation or shrinkage. I naturally can't connect to the idea that anything but a full Season could be satisfactory for the fans of the old games. The statement is, of course, meant to suggest that "like Poker", the smaller Sam & Max bit that could maybe or maybe not come out some years in the future, "when there's time", will not return to the puzzle gameplay of said former Seasons and show the characters in some other capacity.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Well, not literally, that'd be kinda weird, but...
Yeah, if you buy the game from Telltale, you only get the game from Telltale unless something goes wrong with the launch, in which case they MAY give out Steam keys as way of an apology. It's not standard practice to do so though, so don't expect to automatically get one.

Hope I'm not breaking into a hornet's nest here, but for the sake of the Telltale Store and its individual offers, I personally hope this unprovoked rain of Steam keys won't repeat. Steam keys for Steam customers, Telltale build and Season DVD for Telltale customers. That's the kind of diversification we need here...

Well, there are probably a lot of bewilderingly different Telltale statements regarding canon out there.
That is because the aim always is to write stuff that fits the license in such a way that it could be considered canon. But unless the original creator of the IP explicitly SAYS out loud that he regards the story as canon, Telltale isn't in a position to say that they're doing a canon story.
For TWD Season 1, Telltale really did their best. And it would have been a really easy feat, because the story mostly dealt with completely new characters. But then there was Lilly, or "a" Lilly, and the whole idea crumbled a bit. Consequently, I believe Kirkman never said he considers Season 1 as in canon.
The Wolf among Us people are a bit better off in that respect, because Bill Willingham was generous enough to indeed say it explicitly before the Season even started.

Well, as Kevin himself said on the previous page...
My canon comment was supposed to be about The Wolf Among Us, not The Walking Dead, which is obviously NOT canon.
So that answers that.
The game is officially not canon to the comics or show. However, there is nothing so far (apart from the Lilly thing, and it's not too much of a stretch to imagine they're two different characters) that really keeps the game from being canon to the comics.
But yes Telltale do have more freedom, they probably get to choose just how close they want to be to the comics/show at this point.
Wait, so we're officially on a separate canon from the comics/show?
Does that mean Telltale's free to do whatever they like with the timeline and overall state of the setting? Sounds like a good deal to me.

My guess is that after the Lily thing, Telltale changed their official stance to 'not canon with anything else' just to be on the safe side.
It also means they don't have to worry about what's going on in either the TV show or the comic, and can just focus on their own story. Which is a big positive in my eyes.
Since Telltale is all about being faithful to IP, I can't imagine them taking too many liberties with the story. I imagine they'll mostly follow the comic canon anyways despite the game not being canon itself.

As much as I hope Kenny does return, that technically didn't CONFIRM it. Characters from season 1 they're more hinting about Christa and Omid. And this goes without saying (even though I'm saying it now and I don't know why), Clementine. Still, I hope Kenny returns just as much as you do.

But way before TWAU, it was said that TWD game was canon with the comics.
I guess Telltale's stance on things has changed since then.
I'm not sure how possible that is.O_o
A novel got released a bit after the game and changed Lilly's backstory/story (idk i didn't read it), im guessing that's what made the game non canon.
Is there gonna be more Season's of The Walking Dead or is Season 2 gonna be the Final Season?
We don't know.

I'd heard that the idea of Lilly from the game not being the same as the comic Lilly was scrapped at some point, but that's it.

But that's definitely not what Telltale said. I'm not sure they can just abruptly change something like that after the game has been released.

So... Glenn from the 1st episode is not the TV show Glenn?
I know it is stupid to ask, but I am curious about what "IP" stands for?
Intellectual Property, or Franchise.

I wish you guys did a Marvel Telltale game ;(
