plz dont get censored in nz

  • I believe in using classifications as an educational tool. There should absolutely be a warning on each game telling people what kind of possibly disturbing content they will be dealing with. Then it should be up to the parent if the player is below a certain age. When a game is restricted or forced to be censored, then the classification board has gone too far.

  • I'd say our country has the potential to be awesome if the government steering it didn't suck. Otherwise it's pretty average for a western nation.

  • You know I'd like to blame the government, but it was the majority of the public who voted for this government so I think I'll blame the people.

  • well season 1 was never submitted in Australia so microsoft and sony were not allowed to sell it but steam still sold it they can only sell censored versions i think the only game i have seen that can't be sold on steam here is manhunt

    That's sucks.....

Once someone starts censoring because they feel the people can't handle it where does it stop?

Talk about a freedom infringed upon by the government.

Australia is known to censor violent games, or games that have drug usage. The Classification Board from Australia members are 60 year woman who even censored Hello Kitty Island Adventure for being too scary for children.

  • Man that sucks. Never knew Austria was such a communistic country when it came to video games. Seriously once you start censoring because someone thinks the people can't handle it where do you stop.

First that gun grab they did a few years back and not this. Viva la revolution!

  • *Australia.

Seriously? Australia is basically a continent, Austria is a tiny country in Europe >.>

And also there never was a 'gun grab' in Australia (as far as I'm aware).

  • No, it can't, but I'd imagine you'd have to use a proxy to get the uncensored version of Ep 2 from the TTG website, because it would redirect their AU customers to an AU only download. And yes, steam is a bitch, they will only release the censored version for us :( (Like what the did with Left 4 Dead 2).

  • "Shit the board doesn't like".

Definition: Fun or meaningful entertainment of any kind.

Not everything. Just the shit that the board doesn't like, which is a lot.

  • Are we sure this is a censorship thing? Puzzlebox mentioned something about Telltale sending in incomplete versions of their games to be rated. Maybe they did that and then just added in something in later that required the rating to be modified. Here's what puzzlebox originally posted:

To expedite the release process for an episode, we often send an unfinished version of it to ratings bodies. As long as all the blood and gore and language and stuff is already in there, it's enough for them to give a rating without the product actually being ready for release.

  • well that is what we want to know which is why I want to keep this thread alive so that we can get an answer

  • Sure, but I don't think it's anything to get worked up over. I mean, 400 days and TWAU: Smoke and Mirrors were "modified" but I haven't heard anyone complain about it or even identify exactly what, if anything, was changed. At the end of the day, A House Divided is still rated R18+, so it's nowhere close to being sanitized. If any changes were made at all, I doubt they would be the kinds of things that would compromise the artistic integrity of the game or anything like that.

  • ANZAC soldiers died to preserve Australia and it's freedom. This is how modern Australia repays them?

  • Do you know if the game is still censored if you bought it on Steam or on the TTG Website ?

  • A second hand hard copy maybe?

I'm not Australian but there shouldn't be a law against someone selling their own property.

Your probably better using a proxy to download it from the US site?

Could you tell me of this way or ways that isn't piracy?

  • So, can someone tell me what the big problem will be?
Being Australian as well. I'm just curious to know what will happen if we get the censored version.
Will it be weak? Will we miss parts that will be in the uncut version?
Might be a stupid question, but i'm just curious to know what will happen because if it's just less blood, then I don't care really as long as I get the full episode.

Hey guys! Don't worry, the episode hasn't been censored or changed in any way for Australia. Not totally sure, but I think the reason it says "modified" may be because Episode 2 is considered a kind of DLC and it potentially modifies the rating for the season as a whole... I don't know really. But rest assured that Australia is getting the exact same version as the U.S. :)

  • Im am 100% behind of this letter. Stop. The. Censorship.

I'm not Australian, but that was a great letter. The kind of letter that would make anyone with common sense look twice and reconsider that classification system.

  • Oh thank god. Thank you for the response! It really feels better knowing that we're not getting an censored version of one of my favorite games.
