  • Same. I also really, really disliked how they handled Uncle Ben's death. Cliff Robertson played him beautifully in the original.

  • (wtf, I replied, but it didn't show up again.)

I just really disliked the casting, and the portrayal of pretty much all the characters. The villains and fights were lackluster imho too.

  • Little Nicky. Nobody ever mentions this one. Seriously, this movie is the worst.

  • Different strokes a guess. I didn't mind those things Peter did in the movie, though imo, he still did a better job at playing Spider-man. The only original Spider-man movie I really liked with Tobey was the first one. Yeah, I get that he had too much weigh on his shoulders when it came to dealing with being a hero and normal life, but my point is, in the comics, he hardly let that affect him when it came to putting on the suite and fighting crime. I just don't think Tobey delivered well on the Spider-man role quite well. Gwen and Uncle Ben were okay, though I'll you that one on Harry and Aunt May being horrible, but I tried my best to ignore it.

I respect your opinion. Personally, I always found it unrealistic in the comics for Peter not to crumble under all the responsibility and stress, so I appreciated it when they added that aspect into the films. I may be in the minority here, but I just loved how uncool and socially inept Peter was out of the suit, because you don't see that with many superheroes. Most of the time they are just as cool and suave as they are in the suit. But not Peter, that freakin nerd lol. It made him a lot more human, breakable and tangible imo, and to see him in the reboot as a pretty cool hipster kid rubbed me the wrong way.

  • Yeah, I can see how Peter not succumbing to all that pressure can be seen as unrealistic. But I gave that a pass while growing up, because I wasn't looking for the realistic aspects regarding the superheros while I was a kid. I still don't even with other fiction characters. Idk, I tend to like the characters that are the least human as possible for some reason.

I mean, one of my top favorite protagonists of all time from a particular movie (which is also a game) is about as unrealistic as you could get... lol XD

...A Japanese high school kid who's scrawny, aloof, and distant toward everyone including his "friends" and has apathy for pretty much everything, even for his own life, not caring about living or dying and being unfazed when literally being threaten a gunpoint. Doesn't really see his friends as friends, not even as comrades when working together, yet somehow, his senpai appoint him as leader of the team, even though he doesn't have any leadership qualities and doesn't even take part in, or at least initiate conversations (he only speaks when someone speaks to him when asking for his opinion on the matter). And he's also somehow an accomplished fighter from martial arts, to fighting with swords and bows without any ounce of training... wha?!?! lol XD

I hated the book, so I hated the movie. I wouldn't call myself a comic fanatic, because I like the original movies and those weren't faithful to the comics. I believe the reboot desecrated both Peter's, and several other character's actual character. I also thought the fight scenes were silly, and the villains were ill portrayed.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians You tell me..lol.

  • True, but the same could kinda be said for western comics. Especially Marvel and DC. I mean, Silver Age Superman moving multiple planets with his bare-hands and destroying solar systems by simply sneezing. And Batman somehow mastering every type of martial arts in the world as well as mastering all of science, math, history, becoming a technological genius, knowing damn near every language, etc., all in just a short time. lol

Even though Makoto is unrealistic the story he's in is meant to tell realistic story aspects of the human psyche that involve the other characters he hangs around with. The game itself is a high-school simulator with dungeon crawling gameplay. The high-school game mechanics involve the character and his friends attending school and the teachers asking real world trivia questions every now and then, and you have to spend your days doing activities that increase Makoto's parametes like his Academics (studying), Courage (undertaking difficult challenges), and Charm (answering questions correctly in class), while doing after school activities like track, kendo etc. The player also has to balance fighting these creatures called Shadows while balancing their school life, like studying for exams. And the entire game takes place in the course of a year.

They made a movie adaptation and the main character acts pretty much how I described before. It's pretty good. It's called Persona 3. I recommend it if you like anime.

  • The Happening - It was just boring, while a slightly interesting concept. Mark Wahlberg at his worst.

The Last Airbender - Horrible. Everything is just wrong.

Dragon Ball Evolution - Horrible. Everything is just wrong.

Any Transformers by Michael Bay - stuff goes boom and it drags forever.

Wicker Man - Nic Cage at his finest (worst?) If you honestly critique it as a legitimate horror movie, it sucks. If you critique it as a comedy it is incredible.

    Twilight Saga - ...

Amazing Spiderman - Toby makes a better Peter Parker but Garfield makes a better Spiderman.

X-Men 3 - Thank God that Days of Future Past happened. Basically a fresh start.

  • exactly. The Amazing Spiderman Peter Parker, had absoloutely nothing to do with the comic Peter Parker, where as Toby was extremely faithful to the comic

It's for real my Uncle's favorite Christmas movie, he told me it was a classic when he made me and my siblings watch it on Christmas Eve. I think he expected it to put us into that holiday mood, when really we were just like "wtf was that." Nonetheless, we'll probably end up watching it again when he visits in December.DX

But it just came out ugly, and generic. Especially Megatron, which is really insulting because he's one of my favorites.

    This is just... EW.

I feel like it's probably so absolutely terrible that it's actually kind of hilarious.

"Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"... sounds like a timeless classic <_<. If I actually convince my family to watch that on Christmas Eve (we always watch an old Christmas movie on Christmas Eve just for old times sake..) I'm pretty much going to die laughing.

That's why. The book is pretty much modeled after Twilight in most areas, and the movie was very reminiscent of the Twilight movies imo.

  • As a person who did not read any spiderman comics, is there a particular era/series/age you are speaking of? I know there are several versions which are different maybe the character are more true to another era or series of said comic?

  • I walked out of the theater when watching Dreamcatcher. Hated that shit. I recently saw Slither which was horrible. But I'd say the worst movie I've seen was probably a skinomax movie or a facsimile starring Anne Nicole Smith, Shannon Tweed or Dana Plato.

  • True Grit: the 2010 remake.
The whole movie I found to be unbearably dry.
The actors themselves are wonderfully talented, but the script for the movie itself was terrible.
It was the worst movie I saw in 2010.

The next worst movie on my list was: Mosquito Coast.
Though Harrison Ford is a wonderful actor, the script for the film was terrible.
It was, I thought, very mundane.

The 3rd movie, that I thought was hideous was: Noah.
Even though I thought all the actors were cast perfectly for the part they played, the whole script was way to bizarre, not to mention completely stupid; in my opinion.
And the fact that it was a Biblical story, and yet nothing in that movie was even remotely true to the story in the Bible, that as a Christian man; I was heavily offended by it.
I felt like I wasted both my time and money by going to see it.
In retrospect, I wish I would've listen to my gut; and have just got up and left the theater.

The last movie that I thought was absolute garbage was: Bad Santa.
There was hardly any story to it.
Mostly, it seemed to be all about swearing.
Not that I don't cuss quite a bit myself, but if every other word in a movie is a swear word, I lose interest in it.
It's like the constant swearing drowns out whatever storyline is there.
