Returning characters you'd like to see

edited September 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
Allrighty scallywags!

Of course the game will have some totally new characters, which will undoubtedly kick butt, but what characters from the previous four games would you like to see again?

I think it's save to say we all want Stan and Murray back...

But next to those I'd like to see:

Largo LeGrande - Who doesn't love the bra wearing short little guy. Dominic even did his voice once for the infamous Mixnmojo april fools' MI5 joke
Herman Toothrot - Or also known by another name (which was a plottwist I kinda liked actually...)... Though I don't think we'll see him anytime soon due to the fanbase reaction on this whole subject...

I'd love to see Largo and Kate Capsize. Stan almost has to be, and Murray... well... Murray is awesome and all, and I really want him in, but he didn't have much to do back in EMI so I don't see him coming back.

I wanna see (again) Sam&Max easter eggs :)

I'd like to see the Men of Low Moral Fiber (with rat) as they haven't been seen since Monkey Island 2. I'd also like to see Stan, Murray and Largo. Lots and lots of new characters too would be nice :)

    Yeah, definately!

Also, Wally needs to show up and then blow up again.

Definitely Murray, though hopefully not nailed to a stool, and then perhaps the Barbers from CoMI. Van Helgin and his mad banjo skills... aah.

Ahhhh man I forgot about Wally. Yes, yes, bring him back.

    Just one...

The "rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle" !!!.

Awesome character. Incredible dialogs. Amazing usefulness

I'm not including Stan here because he HAS to be there. We can open a poll to bet which business enterprise he is in this time....

Largo LaGrande and the Men of Low Moral Fiber.

Most of the others I want should be a given (Stan has to be in a MI Game).

Yeah! I hope they get the rendering of his jacket right though.
and Murray... well... Murray is awesome and all ...
Meh. I always thought Murray was a bit of a rip-off of the skull in the Quest for Glory series...

Im sure we will see most of what we know, because no matter how you put itm full game or episodic, Monkey Island have and should have alot of Npcs, more so that Sam & Max the other games made by Telltale sofar, so this is gonna be the biggest episodes so far im sure.

Because lets face it, an episodic with 4-5 characters? thats just to small for Monkey Island universe. Same with the locations.

Wonder how they will pull it off.

But one above all must come MURRAY.

Threepwood sails the seven seas in search of La Esponja Grande,a legendary sea sponge with unparalleled voodoo exfoliating abilities this is from the epi 1 description. i have a strange feeling he is gonna be related to largo lagrande somehow lol

He can't use the skeleton arm with that.

Ahh nuts to this. Every single character needs to be mentioned in this game. Ozzie Mandrill, the barber pirates, Marley's Crew, everyone. Make it so, please.

    How about some spin-offs
    "Murray Mayhem"
    "Wacky Wally Adventures"
"The Second Biggest Monkey Robot I've Ever Seen"

    You know what... never mind

if you include a skeleton arm in the game, you have to make it so you get it right at the beginning of the game, but you can never use it until near the end

    that thing haunts me

If Stan comes back, I hope that his animation is the more crazy manic hyperactive early style than the foppish, floppy style of MI3, or the jilted mechanical style of MI4.

King Andre and his sidekick! Maybe even Lafoote, the bumbling elevator operator, even though he was terrible

And Stan has to have his jacket pattern. I don't know what it's called, but he has to have it.
  • edited June 2009
Stan, obviously, and the men of Low Moral Fiber are my votes.

Lovable Wally must return, toting his maps behind him. And Stan and Murray really should make an appearance.

I agree about Stan, his foot tap in SMI was perfect. I am a huge fan of Lemonhead too. Everything he says makes me laugh, whether he's getting mad or just defending his new vegetarian lifestyle.

Did Wally survive the end of The Curse of Monkey Island?
  • edited June 2009
I think so. He is thrown from LeChuck's ship, when it explodes at the beginning, and survives because he isn't wearing his seatbelt. He doesn't really make any more appearances after that though.

Oh, I thought of another fun character to bring back: La Foot (the cabana boy) from CMI. I can't tell you how much fun I had teasing him over and over and over again!

Governor Phatt could make a strong, sitting appearance. And the cannibals have to be there, of course.
  • edited June 2009
maybe some distant relatives to that tragic family, the goodsoups

Stan is a must, but beyond that, I'd like to be surprised. Each sequel seems to pick out a couple of oddball characters to bring back, so it would be consistent if they bring back some random one-time characters rather than the series "semi-regulars" like Wally and the Cannibals. Largo is probably a good candidate to make an appearance at some point.

    hmmm i think you're right

    That is correct.

Stan also tends to have only a small role in each game, so I wouldn't be too surprised or offended if he only shows up in one or two episodes of this series.

I would be sad if he doesn't show up at all, though, just because I never get tired of looking at his magical checkered coats.

I'll also take this time to note that the continuity between Stan's role in the second and third games is one of my favorite gags ever.
  • edited June 2009
yeah you dont want stan to become a main character, but an appearance as a puzzle is always welcome
  • edited June 2009
    MURRAY! He is so demonic.
  • edited June 2009
Men of Low Moral Fiber+rat, pretty please.
  • edited June 2009
Stan HAS to be in it, NO MATTER WHAT!
even in just 1 or 2 episodes, Stan needs to make an appearance! (hope you guys render his jacket design right!)
also you need to have a sam and max reference somewhere in the game
also bring back Murray! I love that guy!
and last but not least have that taro card lady from monkey island 3! for some reason i found her really cool!

TellTale Games, you are now my favorite company EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • edited June 2009
Umm... the Vegetarian Cannnibals... and references to the three-headed monkey.

And definitely Murray, no doubt about that.

Oh! oh! the pirates of Barbary Coasts! Haggis McMutton, Cutthroat Bill, and Edward Van Helgen, with their fun-to-interrupt pirate stories!! Yay!!

Yes he does. He is hanging by his hands inside the Rollercoaster ride at the very end of CMI - which, of course, also explodes at the end. That makes it the third time he is captured in an explosion directly or indirectly caused by Guybrush - the other two being LeChuck's fortress in MI2 and LeChuck's ship at the beginning of CMI.

Another vote for Stan, he's too awesome not to be featured in a new game :D.
  • edited June 2009
If Stan is not this is like leaving one veeeery important part of monkey island out in the cold! it is like having a new season of sam and max without bosco! you just cant do that!
wow i cant believe i am talking about a new monkey island game after 9 FREAKIN' YEARS!!!!
    i love you telltale......
