I bet they took some time over deciding which characters to bring back lol!! there are loads of great classic characters and lets face it after the long wait for a new game we a due a few old faces.

I really hope we see lemon head, murry, and stan.

I've always had a soft spot for Wally. Probably because Guybrush inadvertently made life so miserable for him...
  • edited June 2009
Yes, wally and murray please! :)

It's so hard to pick characters to return. I think Telltale has quite a challenge in deciding which characters to bring back and how many to bring back, etc. There will be a temptation to fill up all 5 episodes with surprise appearances of characters from the old games, but they need room for new characters too.

I think it's too hard to make a list of specific characters, so I'd just like to say that I hope to see a couple of characters come back who only ever appeared in one game. It's a no-brainer to bring back Stan or Herman Toothrot, but to see a character like Meathook would be a nice surprise.

Arodin is right on the money

    Stan, Murray and Wally mostly.

Maybe Carla, Men of Low Moral Fiber.

Actually most of the characters I would like to see return or that I feel could be appropiate are voted the highest in my character polls in my signature . Stan is definately highly voted.

I think as long as they contribute to the overall story they should fit in as many as they can... But I do not want characters showing up just because... it would end up a jumbled mess...

I hope the new characters are good.... I for one was not impressed with the Soda Poppers in S&M... sure they had some funny moments but I got sick of them pretty fast.

Yeah... Stan in EMI was way too static. I think to really work in 3D, he needs to bounce around the screen a little. Something maybe like "Long Long Pants" Homestar.
  • Spiff the chatty dog of MI1!!

I would see again Stan, captain Dread, the laundry man of MI2 and, obviously, men of low moral fiber.

I'd like to see the proprietor of the Bloody Lip on Scabb Island again, considering how Guybrush really seemed to mess up that guy's business a lot. He steals the chef's knife, then gets the chef fired for having a rat in the soup, then gets HIRED and takes to guy's money and proceeds to ditch the job and get fired, and then he comes back later and hypnotizes and steals the poor guy's entertainment.

That guy should have it out for Guybrush for that.

Also it would be pretty funny to have Kate Capsize finally learn who framed her on Phatt island and come after Guybrush too :D

I second this motion. Mr. Fossey was hilarious, and that deserves a return.

Timmy the monkey should return too.

(If this post should be moved or deleted as off-topic, so be it. What I want to see return is not a character but a characterization.)

I want to see the return of the musical number, like CMI had with "Pirate I was meant o be .... If I had my choice, I'd like to see a number in the vein of Gilbert and Sullivan, say, a parody of a song from HMS Pinafore or Pirates of Penzance.

I don't care if it's a puzzle-song or just a weird interlude but I am a fan of the casual break in tension as the game entertains you with music.

If not this season then, please, let's see it in the highly anticipated next season.

Actually I changed my mind of Carla and Otis. I think they worked well on SoMI and had a nice return in EfMI. Their cushy government contracts should keep them out of piraty havoc for now :)

Has nobody mentioned Haggis McMutton, or the barbershop 'quartet' in general?

Oh, and I want to see more of Guybrush (Elaine's dog)...and pretty much everyone from the second game - especially Largo (the one villain that never really got to do much). :P

Also, perhaps since it's episodic now, Herman will have a different crazy persona in each episode - I'd love to see philosophical Herman again!

    My picks.

Murray would be nice, but I'm unsure as to whether they could fit him in without him becoming stale. If he just randomly pops up like in Curse, it might feel forced.

Captain Smirk. I'd like to know what he thinks of Guybrush's sword fighting skills now, and perhaps he can teach Guybrush a few new tricks.

    Wally. And if they do,
I want it to be so that Guybrush did rescue him, instead of forgetting about him. Guybrush doesn't always do things effectively, but he doesn't have to be a total screw up.

Largo LaGrande. Actually, it's not so much I want to see him again, I just want to know whether he's dead or alive (I suppose, being a minion of LeChuck, there wouldn't be much difference).

I would like to know the truth of El Pollo Diablo. I'm not sure how you'd go about fitting the Barber Pirates in, but it'd be a joy to see them again.

personally, i dont think we need a revisit of murray. his shining moment was CMI, and that's why everybody loves him. remember when he showed up in EMI? it felt forced and a little sad and he was just a shell of the awesomeness that we remembered him as in CMI.

murray had his shining moment, no need to kill it more

Telltale might as well re-release CMI if fans want that. :D

Stan and Wally were always two of my favourite characters.

And although I think it's unlikely, I'd love to see Largo return too.

Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Stan, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray, Murray...

EDIT: I look at this now and am very happy since Murray is coming back.

Although I do agree that Telltale should not focus TOO much on old characters... new ones are just as good!

I like Carla, Otis and Meathook as they where the original crewmembers. I also liked the barbershops, Murray and Stan's personality.

I would love for Threepwood to get a permanent crew members

Hmmm... the top five for me:
    1) Murray
    2) Lemonhead et al
    3) Men of Low Moral Fiber
    4) Stan (but more like the original than the EFMI version)
    5) Toothrot (or Haggis, can't decide)

but as said before, way better if they form some part of the plot rather than just cameos for the fun of it :)

    Top five:

    1) Stan
    2) Murray
    3) Largo
    4) Goodsoup Family
    5) Men of Low Moral Fiber (+ Rat)

And for the island: Blood Island, no doubt!

    Stan
pirates of low moral fiber + rat
  • edited July 2009
I'm not going to waste time on ones that we know are coming back as they appear in every Monkey island game since their arrival but I will mention two

    Wally and
pirates of low moral fiber + rat

I wonder if they'd be able to do the Men of Low Moral Fiber (Pirates) justice with their new "template" pirates. One of them was a Tall Pirate, and I could see the shifty-eyed one as a Short Fat Pirate, but I think they'd need to come up with a new model for the black-haired one that sits on the barrel.

Yep, having 3 different characters seen at the same time, while you only have 2 models is going to suck...

    To stay on topic...
    Wally
    The Cannibals
    Captain Smirk
Anyone who's ever been on Guybrush's crew (Barber Pirates, Meethook, Captain Dread, Carla, Otis or even that I.Cheese guy)

I'm not too thrilled about seeing Stan again. He and Murray really felt forced in EMI.
  • edited July 2009
I liked Wally too, from what i saw of him,but personally i feel there's not enough Escape love in here. I wanna see Peg-nose Pete and that guy from the Prostheses shop return!
  • edited September 2009
Further on from my last post I wouldn't mind seeing Stan using Murray as a pencil holder.
