It's just Not a Monkey Island game without Stan. He has to be in at least one episode hawking something and waving his arms about spasticly.
I'd also LOVE to see my favorite megalomaniac : MURRAY, the disembodied, talking, demonic Skull. His over-the-top speech and his "physical handicap" make him a Hilarious character.

As for others, Wally and the "Buccaneer Hairstylists" would be great, but it's not that necesary.

    One for all: Stan!

Murray of course! Or has he marched through the gates of hell in the meantime. I mean rolled.

    The Loom advertisement guy
He has to be in there!:eek:

Oh yeah some cheap product placement has to be in the game.

Yes he does. He is hanging by his hands inside the Rollercoaster ride at the very end of CMI - which, of course, also explodes at the end. That makes it the third time he is captured in an explosion directly or indirectly caused by Guybrush - the other two being LeChuck's fortress in MI2 and LeChuck's ship at the beginning of CMI.

You're right! I forgot about that. Aww, poor Wally. Well he is good at surviving explosions. I'm sure he made it out alive.

    Bob.

I would love Stan & Murray! My favorites :)

Hopefully they'll come up with new characters instead of making this new game into some kind of wax museum of old MI-characters.

    That being said:

    *** Murray ***

Madame Excema. (Madame Xima, Madame Xima, Madame XIMA!)

And - perhaps - the vegetarian, vegetable-headed "cannibals".

    Thoughts?

Definitely. I have to say though, watching 3D Stan's coat while he paced back and forth was pretty neat.

They gotta bring back Stan the Salesman...and I can't wait to see what crap he's trying to hawk each time :D
  • edited June 2009
I have a feeling some minor character may come back. Maybe Smirk?

Of course I won't rest until I see Murray again!
  • edited June 2009
how about The Fettucini Brothers, and Fink and Bart :D

i'd like to see also Slappy Cromwell from the Curse of MI, and his supporting actor :p

Guybrush, Elaine, LeChuck and Voodoo Lady are there for certain and I would assume that Stan belongs to same category of regulars which just can't be ignored.

I would love to see Herman Toothrot, although I wouldn't be sorry if he had lost his memory again. I always liked him more when he was insane.

Largo and Men of Low Moral Fiber are hilarious characters from the first games which I would love to see again. I also would love to see Guybrush's crew; Carla, Otis and Meathook.

    Murray
    Wally
    Stan
    Largo LeGrande
    Captain Blondebeard
    Captain Dread (maybe)
And the three-headed monkey of course.

hey, what about the boat man from the Monkey 3, the one who took you to the Skull Island? He didn't have much lines, but he was great, he reminds me of a William Sadler as a Grim Reaper in Bill & Ted movie.

    He could make a return.

he reminds me of bobin threadbare in appearance, but nothing else.
he was alright though, would be funny if he met him on a new island.

Come on why hasn't anybody mentioned Captain Meathook and his awesume talking tatoo... the hours of hilarity that will ensure...

Only if he gets lost again in the end.

I'm honestly fine with just the main cast coming back. Overall, I'd say that this game really should develop new characters more than harvesting old ones. As much as I love them, I'd prefer to get...that fresh sense of a new character rather than trying to relive that through the same old fogies. :P

As for me, while i'd be okay with just the main cast, I think the tradition has been set since MI2 that some guys come back for different cameos, like Stan and the Pirates of Low Morale Fiber.
So, I want to see (in order of one I want to see most):

MURRAY!!! (preferably without the irritating clicking noise that accompanied him in MI4)
WALLY! (preferably having been freed by Ozzie Mandrill and having worked for him in MI4 to explain how he didn't die)
    Largo LaGrande
    Stan
    Captain Dread
    Kate Capsize
    Otis
    Carla

Oh the memory's, way too many characters I would like to see return, however here is my list:

Stan - as many others have mentioned MUST reappear for a very small part.
Edward Van Halgen - what a catchy tune.
Hugo - The reformed pirate from MI4 - Hugo does miss the wind in his face...
Otis - Pick a pack of possies
Cara - The sword master of Melee Island

    And last but not least

The Pirates of Low Morale Fiber

    And last but not least

The Pirates of Low Morale Fiber

I can't believe they slipped my mind :$

One of the things I was a little disappointed in with the last two games was that they never made a cameo. They were quite fun and didn't need more than a handful of lines :-)

    Haggis McMutton! Definately!

Can't get enough of that accent :P

i just found out which character is hillarious. I'm replaying Monkey 4, and i sorta forgot that stick maker is so funny.

    Mandrill leaves the shop

Freddie: Y'know, If I weren't of a peaceable sort, I'd whack that gentleman over the head with one of my stick, and I wouldn't stop whacking until his brains leaked all over my rustic, hand-polished, hardwood floor, ha, ha, ha! Ayup.

Guybrush: But you're a peaceable sort, right?

    Freddie: Ayup.

    :p

He has great accent and acting with a real personality. There is old-west style in him, and there is similar character in Al Emmo that reminds me of him, a mayor i think.
  • edited June 2009
UG!!! Al Emmo... what an annoying voice that character had.
  • edited June 2009
i didn't mean Al Emmo himself, but one of the game other characters :D
  • edited June 2009
Yeah I know... I understood you... I was just commenting on Al

I think your on to something mate, I'd love to see Largo Le Grande come back as well.

He was definitely one of the prime characters that gave MI2 that dark and spooky look.

Has anyone mentioned Cap'n dread yet? I liked him and his little boat, full of character.

I think it actually works well for us now, since Telltale will be able to reinvent them based on the 16-bit days, without having any real expectations about detail or voice.

Although I suppose then we'd also get the benefit of seeing how they clash with the SoMI:SE versions :p

Yeah, indeed. Then again, Guybrush himself looks ultra-weird in the original two. I've always seen the fat one as being a bit like Kyle Gass (I know people will hate me for saying that :P).

It is nice, in a way, that characters haven't been already re-featured in other games. Especially Dread in my opinion. Think of LeChuck's funky-voodoo-look on this game... I think Dread is the perfect choice of the characters to be remade by Telltalle. I think he goes perfectly with their new style.
  • edited June 2009
I always disliked dread, mostly because of his music, I think. It was soooo repetitive. He's probably my least-liked character
  • edited June 2009
I wouldn't mind seeing Captain Smirk again since he left Melee Island after he was ashamed from losing to Ozzie Mandrill in a game of Insult Gin-Rummy according to Carla on EMI

You have basically named all the best characters. hope they bring the men of low moral fiber not sure why they werent in the last two.

I don't really see how there can be a follow-up to EMI without the termite circus - it just won't do :p
