    EEEEw.

Sorry, i just CANT stand that kinda stuff, so hearing my favourite theme ever done that way just makes me wanna puke.
Now, forcing myself to listen, i've got to admit that it could have been a lot worse than this, so i guess you did a good job... But what can i say, i just can't get into that.

Heh, de gustibus non disputandum est =) I'll consider you actually listening to it as a great achievement XD

EDIT: I almost forgot: xand3rD, those covers are just GREAT. I love them.

Thanks, your music too! I hate dancefloores, but if this is the music I can change my mind :)

Okay, guys. I drew Guybrush. A lot. But I didn't use any references and they're mostly chibis. Should I post them anyway? What do you guys think?
  • edited August 2009
Loved the music, but the video kicked ass. Like a MI2:SE version made by clubbers :p

    Why not. Fanart is fanart.

Have you tried experimenting with more light sources? Maybe a horizon twilight glow.
The models are super, but only one light rarely does justice to the scene.

Especially when the light is coming from nothing.

Yeah, I couldn't listen to it either; I got 15 seconds in before stopping it!

The only remix I ever liked, was the Force Commander Imperial March Rage mix. Still the original is a lot greater.

I appreciate the work that was done for this remix, but I find it difficult to listen. Maybe in a club (which I never go to) or a disco (in which you'll never find me) it could be adequate...but listening to it in your private home, heh... not the best choice!
:) Make more, but make them more listen-able.

The fact that you don't listen to electronic music as a genre doesn't make my song unlistenable, it makes it not fit your musical taste. It's like saying that listening to chiptunes outside of videogames is wrong. The world is full of people that like to listen to electronic music at home, so don't write that my song is unlistenable or that I chose the wrong genre. Write that you don't like it. ;)

(The post is written with absolutely no anger, as you see I appreciate every comment as long as it doesn't pretend to be Truth™ and is written as a personal point of view :))

Wow, I could consider going to discos if they played this music! And I would even enjoy dancing it! Great achievement!

Here is my piece of fan art since music counts. Its a parody of the Hannah Montana song Rockstar. It recaps the events of Secret of Monkey Island in music parody form. I'm a Mighty Pirate(tm)

    Hehe. Parodies. Fun! :D

Here's one I came up with set to the theme song of Gilligan's Island :):

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
that started back when Guybrush bought
    This really rotten ship.

The brew was a mighty simple plan,
    the recipe was sure
to take the crew on board that day
On a spell guided tour, a spell guided tour.

    The weather started getting rough,
    their conciousness was lost,
Then thanks to the magic of the voodoo brew,
the ocean had been crossed, the ocean had been crossed.

The ship was next to the shore of this uncharted desert isle
    With ghost pirates,
    Guybrush Threepwood,
    Herman Toothrot and Otis,
    The cannibals
The Sword Master and Meathook too,
    Here on Monkey Isle!

Thanks. I'll try to find time to post them within the next week.
By then, I'll probably have a lot, though. Guybrush invaded my sketch book.

This thread inspired me to join up and do some Monkey Island fanart myself.

As someone who draws a webcomic about a Mad Scientist, I decided to do a little drawing of my favourite new character so far:

I just sketched this Guybrush, while I put off doing some actual work. I really need to get back into drawing again.

oppie: Your DeSinge is awesome! I really like the art style.

not sure about the lines under his eyes, I might get rid if I do any more work on it.

I liked it a lot :) I'm way more of a rock fan, but I really enjoyed your remix. Could you make it available as an mp3? I have loads of Monkey Island remixes and tracks on my iPod (...a pretty disturbing amount, actually), and this would be a nice addition :)

I still want to tweak some little things, and I'll begin working on an extended version starting on Saturday. I'll provide an mp3 link as soon as I'm satisfied with the outcome =) Thank you for the positive comment!

^ That, my good sir (or ma'am; it's hard to tell online) is epic-sauce.

By the way, a little off topic, but has anyone ever listened to the Monkey Island theme backwards? It sounds neat.

Found any satanic messages while listening it backwards?

I really loved Steve Purcell's concept art of the three Barbery Coast pirates. It reminds me of a picture that you might see on the wall in the back room of their barber shop. It's like a snapshot from a moment in time when they used to be pirates sailing the seas. :)

The pose Steve put the three pirates in was so much fun, I just had to colorize it and update it with their final look from The Curse of Monkey Island. :D

Heh. Tell that to the rest of the internet.
Jpg is like mp3. Basically the most crappy standard you possibly can chose. But everybody uses it anyway because....everybody else uses it.
Also like 25% of the internet still uses Internet Explorer 6 which doesn't do .png properly.
What can I say... Mediocracy is king :)

I actually saved it as a PNG, but I uploaded it to the forum, and it automatically resized my picture and JPEG'D it.

I uploaded the picture to tinypic. So now you can see it in it's entirety. :D Here:

    o3blz.jpg

Just thought I'd mention again that this came from Steve Purcell's Barbery Coast Pirate Concept Art, just in case someone reads this post but doesn't read my first post. I colorized it and updated the look of the pirates to the way they looked in The Curse of Monkey Island. :)

Nah, but it sounds like it'd make a cool MI song in the future.

I done this as part of a video I made just for fun, I'm putting the video on here as MI-Play it again, you will see it there rather smaller than here. :D

As you can tell I don't have Photoshop, does anyone know were I can get a trial version?

Back to the future MI Style

Nop, but there are tools that do about 90% of what Phtoshop does and that are free.
http://www.gimp.org/ for the pixel work and http://www.inkscape.org/ for the vector art.
