Ignoring the dollar sign i get 39, but I'm sure the dollar sign is significant.

Since I can't figure out the first bit, I won't get it, but for anyone else trying, here's my working:

    ?+6-(-6)+4+3+8-(-1)

(Doesn't mean any of it is right, though.)

I'm 19. Will be 20 in December. Got Monkey Island 1&2 in a white label double pack before CMI's release (first game I ever bought and I was really young and just liked monkeys and pirates) and I think I got CMI after, on like the day/week/month/year it was released or something (in other words I got it pretty soon after release I believe). I also remember having to wait a couple of years impatiently for EMI because we didn't have a 3D card or something.

I also ended up buying the first two Monkey Island's again as part of LucasArts Archives 3 on ebay (was probably the hardest to find but I got it fairly cheap I think, on a close bidding war). Also bought LucasArts Classic Adventures and LucasArts Archives 1 (think that was the first one I got) on ebay. I believe I own all the LucasArts adventure games in some form :)

I belong to the majority of the current statistics :)

I discovered Monkey Island when I was 18. I know, I had a late start with the series. I am 26 now. It looks like I fall into the current majority, too. I covered the games that I have played elsewhere: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=130802#post130802

The $ sign means hexadecimal, I assume.

    Me 34 btw.

    33 here

Had my first run in with MI on the Amiga 500 back in the early 90's before walkthroughs were just a click away. I blame that for my receding hairline :-P the hours spent in frustration and hairpulling when I got stuck somewhere. But I still remember it fondly and sometimes even loading it just to hear the sweet theme song. Good times. :D

It is the fifth Monkey Island game, so it is as much MI5 as CMI was MI3 and EMI was MI4.

Think Ry Guy was talking about mental age, but the rest about physical ;)

I think you are right. The use of # as hexadecimal is what pushed me to guess binary when I couldn't remember the meaning of the dollar sign.

If the rest is right, then the answer is 45. (?)

by the poll is clear that the big number of us is between 20 and 30 years old... we are in fact the "Monkey Island" generation...! Some of us, the closest to 20 years old, played Curse of Moneky Island as first MI game, and there was born our love to MI... Some of us, the closest to 30 years old, played MI from the begins, with the first two games... So i can say that MI1 and MI2 were the cause of love of the people about 30 years old... And MI3 was for people (like me) about 20 years old... None loved the saga of MI if started to play from MI4 !!!

I'm 22 now, 23 in September, and i started with MI3, the most awesome episode for me!

I wouldn't automatically say so, i would more conclude that out of the MI gamers, those are the ones which care about taking part here.

These results explain why most folks here are so excited about the game: When I was that young (the average seems to be around 25) I also got much more excited about simple things like the release of a new adventure game... ;)

    27. Enough to know Monkey Island. It was my second adventure game, after Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

    38 here.....

I had thought there would be more old timers who played text adventures first.

    :(
