Do you think there is any hope for a happy ending?

As both Nick and Alvin can be killed in episode two, i think the chances of them lasting past mid point on episode 3 are practically zero. In this series of games, a character is killed or they are not. You only have a choice over when that happens. It'd be too complicated to program scenarios having a character live or die throughout the whole season of a game, on the scale that Telltale develops. The download files would be several gigs, instead of the 500-700mb they are now. Telltale would practically have to make 3 different versions of the game just to support 2 minor characters.

    So they're gone.

All of the characters in general this season seem disposable so far, but perhaps Luke and Rebecca will make it. That would make for a somewhat happy ending i guess..

  • Whoa that would be a hell of a cliffhanger. I think something similar might happen too. Clem ending up alone, hopeless.

Maybe. But it seems like characters like her's end up surviving in these types of stories, sometimes.

  • Either way, happy or sad, it is still an ending. Even if it is a happy ending I'll be sad it is over.

  • I hope the final series of walking dead has a hopeful ending, maybe get away from the zombies/ get rid of the zombies. but I think it will go on for awhile. tell tale has made a very successful video game series I think it will go on for 4 or 5 series. anything could happen in a apocalypse. but looking towards the future but be to much to hope for.

I just hope that we get to stay with Clementine for the rest of the series.

  • Yeah, I like to think there will be multiple endings and this one will happen if she gets everyone killed somehow and has to go to Wellington on her own. :0

  • I have a feeling season we're only going to get one more season out of TWD game, if that. TTG seem to be moving onto new and bigger IP's every year.

  • Thats not going to happen. Theres only going to be one ending. The only thing that will be different is some dialogue options or how the player arrives at that ending. The constraints of time and programming in Telltales games doesn't allow for multiple trees of outcomes. We'd be downloading 1 or 2 gig files per episode if that were the case.

Do IPs get much bigger than TWD? Borderlands is a big game but it doesn't have anything like the crossover appeal to non-gamers that TWD has. I don't think many non-gamers would have heard of it. Game of Thrones is bigger, sure but TWD is a hit show, way bigger license than Fables or Borderlands.

I agree TWD can't go on forever. It can't get ahead of the comics timeline unless Kirkman lays down some rules about where things are headed long term. Much as it would be great to have a season 6 with Clem as a 20 year old leading her own group of survivors I'm not sure it will ever get that far, sadly.

As for a happy ending. Never going to happen.

My reaction if there's going be happy ending^

I watched so much behind scenes and interviews of the walking dead tv show and telltale game and i can confirm for new game main plan is always to give you hope then rip carpet from underneath you quote from writers themselves.there is absolutely no chance of happy ending plan is things get worse then better then even worse then before that's the plan.

  • What about the Carley/Doug situation? Whoever you saved made it to episode 3!! Would it maybe be the same way for Nick? Because it was Pete's dying wish to take care of Nick, so maybe you'd have a change to kill him or save him in each episode?

I'd think more of a bittersweet ending, kind of like The Last of Us. I don't know what could happen, I really don't know a satisfactory ending for something like this. I doubt there'll be a cure, because if there was one, wouldn't it be implied already? It'd be awesome if there was some story branching, and it would determine who you were with at the end of the season. Or maybe Clem just ends up alone either way. But there has to be a way to end the season, satisfactory or not.

Last of us favorite game of all time the ending hate to say good or bad murdered hospital of innocent people damned human race and saved ellie who in the end didn't want to be saved. That ending gave me most feels ever. From my perspective was good ending because if got choice would picked same thing to save ellie even through murder of innocent people. From neutral perspective it's awful ending joel just killed everyone damned human race and only group that can save human race plus ellie actually wanted to die. Brought her to place where bandits most likely attack and life of simply surviving and not great one. Best ending ever

  • I don't mind crying my eyes out again, but I hope they don't give us another huge cliffhanger like season 1. I'll feel like a drug addict waiting for the dealer to come by again so I can buy more drugs from him.

Yes, but eventually, both those characters die soon after each other regardless of which one you choose to save in the pharmacy. So I highly doubt Nick and Alvin are going to be in the game beyond the next episode. But what could happen- instead of those characters being killed, perhaps they just run off like Lily or Molly did in season one.

For me? It would be if clem just survived this season

  • ... It makes me sad to think about the end... I don't want to put my hopes up too high, but it would be really nice if a few more characters would survive this season. ;_;
Since the fate of some characters seem to be pretty much determined by now, I hope that main characters like Clem, Luke and Kenny will survive it.

  • well i hope that even the determinant characters can survive if you save them. I mean REALLY survive not "yeah you saved them now but their gonna die later."

  • Well, that's how it was in season 1... Let's hope they changed this, because I heard about "Pete's watch"-theory and I really want it to be true :)

I'd love to see an ambiguous conclusion, something like the ending for DAY OF THE DEAD where the viewer is unsure whether what they're seeing is real or a dream. (George Romero beat Christopher Nolan to the punch all the way back in 1985!)

Telltale could imply Clem survived the final events of episode 5 along with Kenny and Sarita (or Luke and Sarita, depending on a determinant choice), settling down on some beautiful remote beach as a happy family unit. Or she could have frozen to death somewhere in Michigan. Like everything else in the game, it's left for the player to decide for him/herself.

As for a possible season 3, well...with Telltale taking on more and more projects every year, maybe this would be the best place to leave Clementine. Don't kill me for saying that, guys, it's just a suggestion.

  • I really hope clem survives but not alone... Hopefully she and a few others make it and keep going. That would be happy enough

  • This season does look so far so good but in spite of all that. I don't think they can top the first ending. It will have less impact. The first season was so superbly done start to finish, that they out did themselves and they didn't really even know it, until it became such a hit that it won Game of The Year and with over 80 different awards. I feel this season will come close or even match last season, but definitely will not have the strength to surpass the original season. At least not to win Game of The Year again.

It's probably going to be depressing. I mean it's The Walking Dead and Telltale. Now, I wonder if they can make it even more depressing than the first one

  • Seconded. No Time Left was beautifully tragic, but I don't want the season to end on a completely dismal note with Clementine losing everyone again.

  • Well it might be true but don't underestimate telltale! Who knows what they prepared for us.

  • i want multiple endings depending on previous chapters' choices. Maybe a happy ending, 2 bitter sweet endings and 2 bad endings.

  • That isnt going to happen, unfortunately. There is only going to be one ending - the only thing that will be different is some specifics of how we get there. It would be way too complicated to have to program multiple endings for an episodic game on the scale telltale develops. We'd be downloading 1-2 gig files at a time instead of the 500-700mb files we do now. It took bioware 2 years to come up with thier "endings" for Mass effect 3 and it was still unsatifactory. Telltale gives does it every 2-4 months.

In the final season of the game (my guess is next year) we might get some kind of ending tree because they wont be boxed in.

  • What I plan on doing, when Episode 5 hits:

-Disconnect my internet, from the day of its release until the next thursday (to avoid spoilers)
    -Take friday off from work
    -Play the game thursday evening
    -be devastated
    -lie down
    -try not to cry
    -cry a lot
-drown the pain in alcohol over the weekend
  • Let's just say that I don't think that Luke nor Kenny nor anyone we like will survive trough this
  • What's that?
