You just listed all his mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. EVEN CLEM. I really don't like Kenny but I'm giving him another shot and I hope he can redeem himself in Season 2. I think this is a little unfair though.
This is a post which I shall be constantly editing because TT keeps logging be out and deleting my saved stuff so bear with me
With Shawn,… more for all Kenny knew the farm was falling and zombies were approaching from all sides. His reaction to when his family is in danger is to grab em and GTFO, he's sure as hell not going to leave them alone to help someone else. I understand and forgive this and so should you.
His racist remark seems to show a lack of a proper education and something he grew up with in Florida. It doesn't seem offensive and its not like he treats Lee badly or impolitely so I don't really see why you would be so offended.
If you help Larry, you put Duck and Katjaa of risk of a slow and extremely horrible death, being eaten slowly and picked apart by cannibals. Not to mention Kenny's own and everyone else's lives but that probably means less to Kenny. And you do it for some old bastard who punched you after you got him medi… [view original content]
Well that's how you played the game, for me some of that was different. Kenny did help me save Clem, Kenny helped my kill Larry etc. That's how you played the game, for me Kenny was a true broski.
Well that's how you played the game, for me some of that was different. Kenny did help me save Clem, Kenny helped my kill Larry etc. That's how you played the game, for me Kenny was a true broski.
Ep 1 - He abandons Shawn, literally runs off, even though his child is safe
He always thoughts about his family first, and things happened pretty fast. (Even Lee said that). Yeah, maybe if he and Lee tried together they might be able to save Shawn, but he has the tractor on him, and the walkers were too close. The time was running out.
Ep 2 - He suggests you might be useful at lockpicking because you're "urban".
You can't blame on him, not if you live in the actual society where people talks bad stuff about others just because they think different or have different religions, political ideas or they're just from another country. You can't blame Kenny for act like most of the people of the society.
Ep 2 - He kills Larry as you're trying to save him
He couldn't beat Larry when he was alive... The chances of beating him as a walker were little. Yeah, I know he made a mistake there... I would wait until Larry showed sympthoms and killed him there, but you have to think that Kenny was trapped inside that room, while his son and wife were with cannibals. So yeah, he has to rush.
Ep 2 - He tells you he'll back you up handling Danny St John, instead he leaves you to die
He was just desperate for his family, and was shot.
Ep 3 - He causes a massive argument at the motel over leaving and is the root cause of the paranoia that leads to Carley, Duck and Katjaa dying.
I don't think so. Carley was killed by Lilly. Duck and Katjaa died because LILLY didn't want to leave the motel when Kenny said. If everyone would follow Kenny with his "Leaving the motel idea", they would never found the St. Johns, so Mark would be alive. They won't have to kill Larry, so he'll be alive. Lilly won't get mad so Carley or Doug would be alive. Duck won't be bitten, so he and Katjaa would be alive. And, you weren't be taking Chuck's "house", so he would be alive.
If you analize the entire game, you can find that, even if you don't like Kenny, if you'll follow his ideas, most of the people who died, would survive.
Ep 3 - He once again leaves you to die as you're trapped under a door
That only happens if you have a bad relationship with him. I was his friend, so he helped me.
Ep 3 - He drops you while trying to get on the truck
He was shot, and when he tries to help you even feeling the pain of his wound, he had a lot of pain and accidentally dropped you.
Ep 3 - He fucks you over by blabbing about the girl you kill/leave to die infront of Clem
Yeah, you're right about this one. He has a BIG mouth.
Ep 3 - He tells you your criminal past will be a factor in getting a place on his boat
That happens if you aren't friendly to him. I told him the truth and befriend with him from the first time, so he understood telling me "Is Duck safe when you're around? Yes. Then the things you did don't matter to me", or something like that.
Ep 3 - He tells you to leave Lilly behind to die, both at the motel and on the road
Well, he and Lilly were arguing all the time, and Lilly was going crazy. She was trying to help, yes, but she was doing a bad job.
Ep 4 - He drops you again when trying to escape up the fire escape.
I don't remember this part, sorry.
Ep 4 - He wills you to let Ben die
Well, because of Ben his entire family dies... If I'm Kenny, I would just shoot ben in cold blood because of that.
Ep 4 - He refuses to help save Clem
He was the first to say "I'm coming with you" in my gameplay.
So... That's my opinion about Kenny. He might not be the BEST guy, but he tries to do his best, not only for his family, he cares about Clem and Lee too. (If you're friendly to him). He knows what you have to do to survive, even if it's not the ethic choice.
hmmmmmmmmmm I don't know maybe because lily stopped them from leaving the motel for long enough for Ben to make a deal with the bandits and for the bandits to invade the motor inn which got duck bitten, and then literally shot Carley in the face.
Ninnuendo --- I'm with you I really don't like Kenny, I really hate that he push people to the edge and force people to go with his ideas. A lot of things you post actually depend if you side with Kenny or not. If you side with Lilly Kenny doesn't help with much and seem to course most the trouble while you between two people fighting (I side with Lilly the first walkthrough I did and hated those elements). then someone comment that if you side with Kenny things would be different. So I tried that and Kenny help with everything, so the 1st series drastically change with what you go for. but for the record I don't like Kenny, you feel dirty really dirty if you help him kill Larry.
Kenny wasnt the root cause of Katjaa and Duck's death. If there's one thing I agree with Kenny on,is that staying in one place for way too long is a bad idea.
Case in point:
The motor Inn. Lilly is as much responsible for Katjaa and Duck's death as Ben is. They stayed there too long, got invaded and then ... it happend. That was way illogical anyway, they was running extremely low on food and needed to move to someplace else to find more.Lilly wasnt allowing that.. stupid..
Ontop of that Rick's group stayed too long in the prison and got invaded by The Governor.. Kenny had the right idea.
Some good points, but they're let down by the fact that half of these are determinant. He doesn't always refuse to help you save Clem, the dropping from the fire escape wasn't intentional, and to be fair, the criminal past thing is a perfectly valid thing to bring up with the boat situation.
I don't blame Lilly for Duck and Katjaa's deaths, although I suppose in a roundabout away you could. Kenny wanted to take his family (and possibly Lee/Clem) and leave the motel before the bandit attack, and Lilly was the one arguing for everyone to stay. Lilly isn't directly responsible for the bandit attack and Duck's bite, but she was a factor. It's certainly not Kenny's fault that his family died, I don't see how anyone could make that argument.
As for Carley/Doug, it was 90% Lilly, 10% Ben. Lilly absolutely made the decision to pull the trigger with no evidence. She was pissed at Carley's smart mouth (in my playthrough, not sure about the conversation if you saved Doug) and shot her. Like I've said before, Lilly doesn't handle high-stress situations well. She just blindly starts shooting. She's actually a lot like Kenny in that regard, violent and aggressive when the chips are down. But at least Kenny backed you up if you backed him up. Lilly never did shit for you or Clem.
@thedreamcatcher: Yeah, I didn't like killing Larry, but it was something that had to be done. A tough but necessary choice. He wasn't going to magically recover from his heart attack and be fine, we all know that. I think it was an important element to the story, the knowledge that sometimes you have to make a deliberate, calculating, difficult choice in order to survive. I don't blame Kenny (or Lee/myself) for dropping that salt lick on him.
Ninnuendo --- I'm with you I really don't like Kenny, I really hate that he push people to the edge and force people to go with his ideas. A… more lot of things you post actually depend if you side with Kenny or not. This "Everything is dependent on you" defence of Kenny doesn't hold up to scrutiny. This isn't a multiverse, we all have the same Kenny, we just treated him differently. He is 2 sides of the same coin.
That is why everything I've accused him of stands up, he is a good guy only if you do whatever he wants. The moment you tell him no, you'll see what a complete ass he is. That is what defines him
Kenny has done some bad stuff, everyone has. LILY didn't help Lee when he almost die at the St. John's either. BEN was the one stealing supplies causing Lily to get paranoid. That was not Kens fault. I can't defend him for everything he has done that true. But if your loyal to him he is loyal to you. Sort of like trust. I killed Larry because I wanted to protect the most important thing at that dairy. CLEMENTINE. That's what all my decisions came down to. She even said to my Lee as he was dying that she knew he did it to protect her. What would you do if someone just shot someone with no proof? Lilly went over the edge and dangerous. Kenny is a flawed and difficult person. He makes the story interesting. Since his loyalty can be changed by the simplest decision he makes you think more as a player. He is not perfect and he can be questionable no doubt. But you have to admit that he is a great guy to have on your side when you need him. Assuming you have been by HIS.
Kenny has flaws, BUT he made up for it with his epic sacrifice at the end of S1 in my opinion, also he gave me this bro speech some thing like "you and clem are the only family I have left. I'm with ya to the end" (you have to hide the bite and be Kenny's bro for this)
Granted, while some of these things (not coming to help Clem, leaving you for Danny and under the door, and leaving Shawn) are bad, the rest is just completely blown out of proportion, to put it lightly. Seriously? You expected the guy with a bullet in his gut to be in peak physical condition in a week? And let's not forget all of the good things he's done, such as saving Lee's life at the end of Episode 1 (which is NOT determinant, no matter how badly you've treated him he saves your life), the way he saved Christa's life in Episode 5, him forgiving Ben for killing his entire family, and even giving Christa and Omid the boat in Episode 4 is he goes with Lee and they stay behind. He's got plenty of flaws, but he's not a bad person. At least not after No Time Left.
Ep 2 - He is kinda ignorant but that makes him so funny
Ep 2 - He kills Larry with your help
Ep 2 - He tells you he'll back you up handling Danny St John and keeps his word
Ep 3 - He causes a massive argument at the motel because he is right, the motel isn't save anymore and Ben is the one screwing up by keeping the trade with the bandits a secret
Ep 3 - He once again helps you when you get trapped under a door
Ep 3 - He drops you while trying to get on the truck but only because he is weak and that has a charm on its own
Ep 3 - He praises Lee for caring more about getting supplies than about an already bitten woman, though it wasn't appropriate at that moment
Ep 3 - He says you've earned your place in the boat together with Clementine
Ep 3 - He tells you to leave Lilly behind to die, both at the motel and on the road and is actually right because Lilly is a schizophrenic bitch with a massive father complex
Ep 4 - He drops you again when trying to escape up the fire escape because of his weak body
Ep 4 - He is furious about Ben killing his family and wants him dead and Lee lets Ben fall since he also wished for his own death
Ep 4 - He gives his bro speech and helps you to look for Clementine without any hesitation
Comments
You wish that Kenny can redem himself in Season2?
He already did this in Season1 by saving Christas life or by trying to save Ben's life and forgiving him!
Some of these points aren't valid, such as him dropping you in Episode 3 - he got shot recently, give the guy a break !
Well that's how you played the game, for me some of that was different. Kenny did help me save Clem, Kenny helped my kill Larry etc. That's how you played the game, for me Kenny was a true broski.
Broskis before Hoeskis!
It looks like sometime they will start to blame Kenny for being the reason of the apocalypse too, shit.
Ok, let's see...

Kenny is the reason for everything bad that happened in this world! Our world can't handle the power his godlike and breath-taking Stache inholds!
It is Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.
I love how you all try to put the blame on Lilly for **Kenny's **actions. He was so out for his family? Why did they all die?
hmmmmmmmmmm I don't know maybe because lily stopped them from leaving the motel for long enough for Ben to make a deal with the bandits and for the bandits to invade the motor inn which got duck bitten, and then literally shot Carley in the face.
