I think I'm ready to leave the forum
I log on most days to see if there's any interesting discussions on what happened in recent episodes but I swear to God all I see is negative posts about Episode 4 or people saying they're boycotting Telltale. I'm pretty sick of this. I've never seen something get so blown out of proportion as Episode 4. I'm not saying it's a perfect episode but Jesus Christ it was by far the most like season one. You don't like Nick dying the way he did? Do you think I enjoyed how Carley/Doug or Chuck died?
Everyone puts Season One on this pedestal like it was perfect but it had so many flaws. The first season is one of my favorite games ever but it's not without flaws and all of these people who keep comparing this and that to season one as if it was better is just plain annoying. Season Two has its fowl up with the story telling, lack of character interactivity, and questionable choices but I must say that I've enjoyed every episode despite minor disappointments. I just feel people saying they're going to boycott the entire game without knowing how everything impacts Episode 5 and how it ends yet is too preemptive and silly.
So yeah I think I'm pretty tired of the forum. I can't handle this much negativity over a GAME. It's like people's lives are at stake with the amount of anger around here. The most minor of flaws get blown out of proportion and it gets old. All I see is Nick this, Sarah that. They're flaws. Just like season one had. Season one in my opinion is better but I knew it always would be because Lee Everett is nearly impossible to top as a protagonist.
So I guess my rant is over but I'm pretty tired of the forum. Nobody likes talking about the good things in the episodes (which in my opinion Episode 4 had plenty more good than bad). It's just a shame I used to enjoy this board. So I guess I might stick around to see your thoughts but I'm likely going to leave. The negativity is just not worth it.
EDIT: I'm just going to leave because a lot of people don't like what I've said and I feel like I've caused more trouble talking about this than anything. Feel free to message me anytime but yeah I'm going to go. I don't think I belong in this environment.

People will always look for flaws in everything.
That's why we can't have nice things.
Thank goodness, about time someone came up with a thread like this. I feel the same way. Sometimes I think people in this forum are so damn negative. Yes, the episode had flaws, but every episode has. Episode 4 had more good points than bad. So why can't we just focus on those?
Season One was obviously flawed, but at the end of the day, most sequels don't live up to the legacy of their predecessors; especially when it comes to movies. The negativity isn't without reason, people have high expectations that couldn't be met this time around. I used to be bad about negativity on the forums but you get used to it.
"High Expectations" : People expect a great episode, so they ignore them when flaws stick out like a sore thumb.
Speaking for myself, I'm not mad about the relative quality of the game compared to season 1. Season 2 in itself just does not work as a cohesive and consistent narrative.
Yes, each episode in itself is interesting and enjoyable. But as whole? The season just doesn't work.
Don't go, you seem decent.
Honestly, if you don't want to hear complains, then don't read them.
I loved this episode, hell, alot of people did. If someone is not satisfied let them complain and rant. I hate the negativity too, but there's nothing we can do about it. Opinion is a bitch.
I've had alot of fun here on the past couple days. If you don't like the negativity, stay away from it.
High expectations, I understand. But some people's expectations are TOO high. They demand this, they demand that. Why can't they just appreciate the fact that Telltale put so much effort in to create these episodes?
I made a thread sorta like this, the guy told me that this is only like a quarter of the TTG fanbase, and many other people gave it a good review
;~;
People request so much, but want it in so little time.
"TTG did a slack job"
yet lots rushed 204
Since a lot of the forum is being negative, its pretty hard to stay away from it lol
It's hard to find the good posts in between the tons of "Sarah..." "Nick..." "Boycott Telltale" posts on every single page from people. I would avoid the negativity but it's everywhere.
Aww thanks.
I see many positive reviews outside of here and The Walking Dead wiki the majority of people voted it the highest they could so I don't know. It's so odd seeing one place praise it and then here on the home front it's nothing but negativity.
They talk about it all of the time, they wanted Nick to have a more heroic and meaningful death besides "going to look for help" and he ends up getting slaughtered. People wanted Sarah to at least make it to Episode 5 if you saved her this time around, akin to Ben in Season 1. They wanted 400 Days to actually mean something because that's what they were led to believe. The only way I can see this happening is if the gunshots at the end of the episode were actually the 400 days characters you left at camp saving Clementine's group. I dislike the negativity too, but sometimes it takes criticism like this to improve the product. It is a little excessive though...
Well said. People shouldn't threaten to boycott Telltale or complain so much. Episode 4 was largely a great episode. Telltale's way of storytelling has always been awesome and something that outweighs any flaw, in my opinion.
Yeah i agree don't go, you seem decent. I agree with what you said completely, and feel the exact same way. The game isn't perfect but its still worth playing. I suggest taking a break, i'm thinking about it myself at least for the weekend . The same questions/same BS. I'm tired of talking about Sarah to be honest. She is dead , to the people who can't get over this fact i have some words for you.
That is life, sometimes the hero dies and the villain wins, life isn't all sunshine and rainbows.
I can see how it can get frustrating. A lot of game forums are like that, but this isn't bad as some I've seen. There's was one that I went to that had nothing but constant fighting and arguing and negativity in every single thread to the point that I wondered how the mods let it get so ridiculously out of hand and ended up entirely quitting not only forum but the game as well.
Anyways I like to think of it this way: when people are complaining it's because they care. If they can offer it better in the form of critique then maybe if Telltale made a mistake they can take the advices of what the collective of the fans are saying. It's good when companies listen but it's also important they go with their gut since they are the professionals.
Agreed. The what's better this time are the QTE's in my opinion.
I loved episode four, except for Sarah's second death. I can even get by with Nick's death, because at least it made sense.
I understand that criticism is good, but god damn, this board goes overboard sometimes. I totally agree though about Sarah and Nick. Their deaths were rather meaningless. I thought apart from those, it was a great episode.
Exactly
I had my dislikes for episode 4, but I think most of us will agree that overall it was one of the best episodes of the series, expect to see allot of hate threads considering it was only released recently, but over time people will let their anger/sadness out until it's mostly gone :c
xD, "WE WANT TO BE HEARD!" the more noise they make, the more likely they'll be heard.
it was the best episode of season 2
Amazing character development
Fun Puzzles
Good hubs
Character equalization
Two very sad deaths
Good length
Setting up for a hard choice
Very difficult choices
and then
Nicks death was bad, but some of you have to stop acting like it just ruined the entire episode because you disagreed with how someone dies. Stop finding every little flaw and use it to degrade episode 4.
Claps hands Well said.
Yeah I agree with this post entirely. One flaw for me was the way Nick died. That's it. I really enjoyed the rest.
Perhaps a break is in order. I don't know. I hope things will get better by the time Episode 5 comes out and dear God I hope it's Oscar worthy because the forum will explode if it isn't.
No pressure, hey?
I feel so bad for you puzzlebox. This must be hell for you right now.
Well, I think some folks are overreacting when it comes to threatening to boycott, but there are legitimate complaints that make sense and besides, it's all opinion, you can't silence opinions. I enjoyed the episode, but for me, it was FAR from being the best in the series, but it's not the worst either, it just has a couple of flaws that keep it from being great to me. You can leave if you want, but don't think EVERYONE here hates Telltale.
i think a lot of the complainers are immature, a visual novel is art, and art is completely subjective. I support constructive criticism, hell i have some of my own, however for a mere pittance this game worth every cent.
100% agree. I liked this episode and yes, it's not without its flaws (same as S1) but during my playthrough, I thought the gameplay was great (a lot like S1), we got to understand some of the characters better and it had a bunch of bitter sweet endings to some of our favourite characters. There were a lot more choices and different outcomes to said choices which I thought was great. I thought everyone was going to be like "Yes, great episode! Loved it"
Of course, when I got back to the forums, I saw a lot of the same threads: "Let's boycott Telltale", "Sarah and Nick's deaths were disappointing", "Hate both Kenny and Luke now", etc
It's getting repetitive but usually after an episode, people like to find the faults and express negative opinions on it. It sucks because it really was a good episode but people have to let off some steam and I respect that. I'm optimistic this will quiet down in a week or two but for now we might be seeing a lot of the same threads over and over again.
Indeed. I think you guys do a great job, puzzlebox.
i know your feelings bro there is alot of complainers ! but dont leave this forum if you love tell tale games !
i LOVE YOU TTG !
Go on and leave then, just because you can't handle people criticizing something you like.
Yeah that's totally the only reason I want to leave.
True enough.
Any chance for actual sunshine and rainbows ^_^, i think we all suffered enough.
