But are they really so intelligent that they can pick up a smartphone, identify who it belongs to, identify that the person it belongs to is the person it sees in the cabin, and throw it through to window just to scare them? I mean, why would it?

And it was mentioned in the game that the windegos are supposed to mimic their prey to lure them in.
Surely it was what threw Jessica's phone to bring her out and take her.
Does the opening therapy session spoil who is being interviewed if you've finished the game? I was going to play it through with my best friend who hasn't done it yet..
Not going to spoil anything, but I CAN'T be the only one who noticed something... "new" and "different" about Dr Hill's beginning lines in t… morehe first therapy session with him, that plays out when you play the game a second time. I just love the small little things they added in the game.
Plus the ending of the game was really well done, in my opinion. They don't pull a cheesy ending that fully wraps up the story; it wraps it up, but in a way that I found well done and realistic.
I don't really understand why people (e.,g. youtubers) seem to hate Jess so much? I've heard 'she's pretty and knows it' as a reason to dislike her, firstly that';s a bullshit reason, secondly Mike is attractive and knows it. Secondly they say she's too interested in sex, but Mike talks about sex with her just as much, yet people don't call him a bitch.
So yeah, I don't get it? What has she done that's worse than characters like Josh or Mike?
Also I've found it interesting that people's bottom three characters are often Ashley, Jess and emily, and they are also the only girls who have any form romance in the game. Perhaps the romances in-game remind people of being unable to hook up with girls or something? Could just be a coincidence, but it's a rather large one when people like Josh are placed above them.
Well, to be honest that's comparing two completely different situations.
Josh is motivated by vengeance over the loss of his sisters and seeing his friends carry on with their lives without having learned anything out of how they actions caused Hannah and Beth to go missing for a year.
This random guy is motivated by the 'treat' towards his own ego, lust, and self-entitlement just because he couldn't handle the fact that not every girl he meets is going to be attracted to him.
I get that not everyone is going to feel sorry for Josh due to his grossly disproportionate retribution towards his victims, but comparing him to a random psycho who shoot women for turning him down, an arguably more immortal act, is a little too much.
But are they really so intelligent that they can pick up a smartphone, identify who it belongs to, identify that the person it belongs to is the person it sees in the cabin, and throw it through to window just to scare them? I mean, why would it?

I think romance part has almost nothing to do with it. It only kinda makes sense to mention with Emily, but seriously - she treats Matt like a furniture and cheats on him, no wonder people don't like her and her "romance line". And Ashley is kind o a jerk. She can doom 2 characters to death basically for nothing. With Jess I don't know what real problem is, I can only guess that we can only see her in the beginning (and considering an awful and cringeworthy fight with Emily it makes sense) and then she's out of the game (either dead or horribly injured) and we never really have a chance to know her better that way - not like Mike who's also a jerk in the beginning but later goes into full Nathan Drake/Dean Winchester mode and wins over the audience that way.
But overall, I think it's just writers did a poor job writing majority of female characters. They never talk with each other, don't help each other and stuff. That's why only Sam is really likeable - because there's no such bs with her like catfights and shit.
They mean 'stereotypical'. The game is designed to basically be an interactive horror film and deliberately incorporates all the tropes asso… moreciated with classic horror films - the token black guy who dies early, the over-sexualised bad girl who dies early, the hero jock, the pure girl who often survives, the awkward/nerdy jokester etc. That's not to say the characters can't be deeper than that or even go against the role they've been assigned, but they still fit within that familiar outline. See Joss Whedon's film 'The Cabin in the Woods' for further detail.
Mike cheats on his girlfriend but people don't judge him for it as much as Emily though?
Also I think the romance factor is definitely relavant to Jessica. All but two of her conversations is with Mike, when you play as him.
Ashley doesn't doom two characters to death any more so than Josh, but people seem to dislike her more.
I do agree on the female character thing though. It felt like all of them apart from Sam were specifically written because the writers were like 'Right what will Matt/Mike/Chris' love interest be like?' rather than designing each individual character then thinking about romance.

Well, personally if there were something to dislike about Jess, it would have to be the fact that she, Emily, and Mike are mainly responsible for Hannah and Beth's disappearance and thus starting the entire plot due to their prank. Had they not made the decision to prank Hannah, there would be no story. Other than that, I actually like her character and wish she had a bit more screen time and wasn't merely playable in the tutorial section and near the end of the game (if she is alive).
Mike usually gets away with being called a 'bitch' because of double standards when it comes to gender, as well as how much screen time he gets compared to everyone else (which I assume to be the most out of everyone, even the lead character Sam), how 'badass' his moments are right down to not being able to die until right at the end of the game, and as silly as it sounds how attractive he is.
Yeah I think you're right. Also, on the attractiveness thing, I think you're spot on. Jess and Mike fit the highschool prom king and queen trope, and most boys growing up in highschool probably got over the fact that girls like that wouldn't date them by saying she's a bitch, and at the same time idolised and feared people like Mike. So when they get to play as Mike, they feel validated, whereas they still hate Jess.
The screentime thing annoyed me, and having to play as Mike for 50% of the first half of the game is one of my biggest complaints about Until Dawn. They probably made him the most commonly played character because he's the most comfortable for the gaming communities (so many protagonists in the last 5 years of gaming look exactly like Mike).

I guess you're right. For me right from the introduction they all had very unique personalities. Their premise may have been stereotypical, but as far as the charters themselves go, in my opinion, they were amazing. Except Chris maybe, I feel like he was a fairly by the book character.
It's a bit like life is strange - the characters in Until Dawn may seem cliche at first (selfish jock, cheerleader-type girlfriend etc), but they gain depth and development which shows they're more than that.
I dunno about other people since I judged him. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ In the beginning I always called him an asshole. But this is an interesting point, I think that's because when we found out about Mike and Emily we were playing as Matt - so we only cared about Emily there. We didn't know Mike at the moment and I think majority didn't register the fact that he's in a relationship with Jess because seriously, too much information at the same time. But we knew that Emily is "our" girlfriend at the time so I guess there's that.
Then his cheating became irrelevant - and that's what makes his case different. Plus we had a chance to drop the douche attitude with Jessica and be a more or less normal boyfriend (and later he became a "badass", as lame and stereoypical as it was - but it still works), but Emily was a pain in the ass and tried to boss Matt around *all the way* - because we were always playing as Matt when we had conversations between them and never had a chance to make her "better" and act differently. In order for her to say that she cares about Matt in the end we had to save her ass and obey her. This is just not right.
Ashley doesn't doom two characters to death any more so than Josh, but people seem to dislike her more.
I don't remember Josh directly doing anything that resulted in someone's death. Ashley on the other hand knew about the danger, knew about wendigo and just let Chris die. And the whole thing with Emily in the end was also stupid. Plus, she hasn't done anything memorable except for those two things so imo that's why peple don't like her - they remember only bad things about her because that's how our brain works - we remember the most intense moments, and that does not necessarily mean 'the most positive moments'.
Yeah I don't really know what exactly the hell is wrong with the girls in the game, but I know there's something wrong.

So initially my least favourite characters were Chris, Mike Emily and Jess. Mainly I just hate bitchy people and Emily and Jess going at it really wound me up, then when I tried to get Emily to cool it she got mad at Matt. Mike was a pain at the beginning but he redeemed himself being quite the hero and I got to like Emily by the end for what she went through in the mines. Chris was a pain at the start (probably because I checked his phone!!) but I enjoyed his and Ashley's scenes together later.
By end game I think Matt (boring), Ashley and Jess were my least favourite. I don't think their gender had anything to do with it!

I think they are fairly intelligent. The one (s) outside of the fire tower cut the cables holding it up, so they obviously knew something about the structure. They just have an insane urge to sadistically kill er'thing.

If someone says 'I met such a bitch today' our brains automatically say 'this person was a woman'. Bitch comes from a word for a female dog, so it's pretty clearly, at least originally intended, to be a misogynistic insult, and it is used as such a lot these days still.

If an insult is specifically supposed to be used to insult women, how is it not misogynistic?
How on Earth is 'Bitch is a word for female dog, therefore it's only used against women' an argument that it isn't misogynistic? Can you explain your exact train of thought there? I mean, humans chose to use that word for a female dog to insult women, it's not like the word just coincidenntally happens to apply to both.
Bitch is a word for female dog that was made as an insult in order to insult women, just as the N word was made an insult in order to insult black people.
(Also, here in England women get called bastards more than men get called bitches, and if men ARE called bitches, it's to compare them unfavourably to women (e.g. you are your bosses bitch!'.)
Everything's misogynistic.
Who said that? Please don't exaggerate, it hardly makes your argument seem coherent.
If you can show proper proof to support your statement that female dogs were named bitches after the word was made an insult then I'll agree with you. Until then I can only assume it was the other way around.

I really enjoyed playing this game. In my first playthrough I managed to keep everyone except Josh alive. The butterfly effect said that Sam didn't find a vital clue and Josh didn't recognize Hannah in time, what is the vital clue you need to keep Josh alive?
I was watching Until Dawn on youtube, and, of course, I've read some spoilers. I basically read something about Josh being the ''killer'', but he didn't kill anyone. Yeah, something like that. Is that going to ruin the story for me or is there many other plot points yet to be revealed? x_x

I don't think it'll go as far as identifying object possession identification esp. with the phone because they're hungry AF.
People are way too sensitive, Emily best girl confirmed.

Joss Whedon did Cabin on the Woods? I did not know that. I wasn't planning on watching the movie, but now I kind of have to.
All women are in cahoots with the anti-christ. This is common knowledge. Sam only gets a pass because she has mad climbing skills and nice butt.
Do. It's a great commentary on horror films and has a lot of dark humour in it.

Oh goodness really?! I know guys that i'd use the term bitchy to describe. It's just any easy term to use.
That's because it can be used to describe either gender. It's a generic derogatory term.

"misogynistic insult"...It's a female dog therefore females usually get insulted with it, like men with bastard. But hey! Everything's misogynistic.
Is it me, or does Mathew...
Look like Lincoln Clay from Mafia III?
He didn't say he met a bitch, he used the term bitchy, which is widely applied to both sexes.
