Outside of chaos emily is clearly the worst but in a disaster I think Ashley is the worst, I'm still confused what she actually does the whole game thats positive.
Emily - How can anyone actually stand letting her live?
I liked Emily actually. She's pushy, but she seems to be one of the only people who has a good head on her shoulders. I like her a lot better than Jessica at least.

Ashley's just an archetype, really. She's not necessarily there to do something positive or add a strength to the group, but she has a role within the structure of the game. She's the one who embodies the guilt for the prank they played on Hannah and shows the most remorse out of everyone for it. The character clearly has anxiety issues, possibly a disorder, and probably gets freaked out easily in everyday life, let alone in a crisis, so this whole thing would feel five times worse for her. Part of that anxiety is also there to help sell the 'ghost' idea. These stories run on tension and conflict, so if Chris was like 'I think it's just someone messing with us' and Ashley was like 'Yes. I also think that', then the lack of friction between them would make it less vicariously tense and scary for the player. So if anything, Ashley exists in auxiliary to Chris. She needs Chris and knows that she does, and Chris needs to be needed. Chris knows what her flaws are and how her mind works and so knows how to support her and calm her down, and she in turn, knows Chris has her best interests at heart and so is comfortable trusting him implicitly, which is a form of character strength. Perhaps that's why she snaps and lets him die, when he breaches that trust by shooting her.

Because I dislike the others more?
Ashley I found very dull, Josh is a psycho, Mike is a classic horrible lying selfish two timing jock t… moreype, at the same time as being the typical 2000s/2010s protagonist which made him duller. Oh, and he's homophobic, so yeah, not my fave.
Also Emily showed remorse for her actions which is more than can be said for most of the group.
The game was good and the choice impact welcome. I feel the one thing they did need to work on was the last couple of chapters having more v… moreariety. You always just circle back to mike and sam, none of the others play a role at all. Also I feel a more complex epilogue would have been better, a short follow up on what the character did.
So ranking the characters
One .Chris
* Decent guy, I wish the ending focused on him more and less on mike, not to mention he seems the only real innocent one to begin with.
Two. Sam
* Same reasons though I felt chris had more of a sense of humour
Three. Jess
* Really annoyed me to begin with but her derpy attitude warmed her up a bit. Wish she had more of a role but I get a lot of the characters were more background.
Four. Mike
* Decent enough arc on him, similar to jess he grew on me
Five. Matt
* Boring as fuck but I feel a bit bad for him. He just seems like a gu… [view original content]
I was into the game at the beginning but as it went on I just started to lose interest. The game drags on a bit and some of the walking is unnecessary. I was gonna play through once without looking at what the best choices to make were, but the game is just not holding my attention anymore. It's a shame, I rarely spend $60 on a video game, and when I do, I regret it.
You probably noticed that Wendigo Hannnah has some weird spot in her head. Well that was when Mike shot her after she (determinantly) killed or left Jess in the mines. If you don't shoot her she dosn'nt have it.

Eight. Emily - How can anyone actually stand letting her live?
FINALLY. Someone agrees! I purposely failed all of Emily's QTE events so she'd just fucking die already.
She was a bitch, And she made Mike and Matt's lives a living hell, Not to mention, She was a bitch when Hannah and Beth ran out into the woods, and the prank was her fucking plan in the first place. Emily deserved to die.

Since I'm almost at the end of Until Dawn, I'll post my "favorite characters" list. I know how it ends too because I looked at spoilers.

and the prank was her fucking plan in the first place.
The plan was actually Jess's in my opinion based on that scene, though at least Jess is nice to her boyfriend instead of abusive. Thats also the reason I like Mike way more than emily.
Still with time I appreciate emily more than ashley
And all three characters are better than sam, who while nice really is just sort of there, shes the girl who survives every horror film. I like her as a person

I don't hate Emily actually, she's just my least favorite. She started to get better on my list when she and Matt fell into the mines(I'm at the part where she starts running from the wendigo in the mines). Also when I get to the ending I might change some of the characters around except Josh(I already know if you save him.etc he'll still turn into a wendigo at the end). Since you guys are replying to eachother I might as well ask you guys a question.

I have a PS4 and I've been thinking about getting Until Dawn but I also wanted to get a newer game on steam.
So........Until Dawn or Steam?
One thing that bothers me about Ashley so far is how saggy her cheeks look lmao......
Well, Let's see. She dragged Matt all over hell and back with her stupid ideas, Her constant badgering of Matt to save her got him Killed in one of the various game routes, She was pretty much trying to cheat on Matt with Mike, She made everything tense at the Lodge between Matt, Mike, Jess and Her, And she does a bunch of other unbearable shit that sickens me and many others.

I dunno, I find her cattiness and banter kind of amusing.
I agree with you about Ashley though. She's really useless and air headed.

I don't recall Mike saying or acting in a homophobic way, when was this?
If I had to rate my characters, it'd be this from best to worst:
Chris=Ashley
Sam
Josh
Matt
Emily=Jessica
Mike
Because most people didn't play the game with intent to murder the characters they dislike?
Even if you dislike her, killing her out of spite is far worse than anything she does.
Is there a forum to discuss this game? I've looked but I can't find any.

Guys i just realised something badass.

THAT is attention to detail.

I despise you.

Your opinion I guess. But I think it's kinda dumb when people purposefully miss the QTEs just to kill off a character they don't like.
She was the worst.

Why does everyone hate Emily? ;-;
Yeah, tbh, I hate Ashley more
At least Em has a personality. Ashley was basically like "oh my God scary ghosts! pees pants" the whole time.
If I had a PS4 and Until Dawn, I would lead her to her death, that's for sure ;-;
Edit: And I'm talking about Ashley, not Em
How is it a living hell?
i'll do my own, i guess.(favorite to hate)
Finally! Someone who hates that bitch!
I'm just being honest ;-;
Still tho

Well, since you have a PS4 maybe you should get Until Dawn. Don't miss that opportunity.
Ashley deserves the last position. I'm not fond of her at all.
Yea I guess so, I'm still gonna get fallout 4 doe but then that means Mad Max will have to wait.
Def go for Until Dawn
Emily didn't even know that a Wendigo would kill Matt.
Plus, you might have overlooked Ashley. That lyin piece of shit got Chris killed.
Until Dawn wins!
If I only have $60 laying around....
Yes, but that's only if Chris selfishly chooses to shoot Ashley, Which my Chris never did.
Josh is the bomb.
YUP
My first play-through is tonight I can't wait
