Hey there guys. I know it has been a while and I've been slacking a bit on reviews, and I apologize. Like I said before, I will be reviewing The Raid series. So without further ado, here we go.
The Raid: Redemption movie review
The Raid is an Indonesian martial arts action flick that stars Iko Uwais, Yahan Ruhian; and was directed by Gareth Evans (A white dude). The film follows Rama (Uwais) and his SWAT team who infiltrate this hotel/apartment complex owned by this big time gangster. What ensues throughout the film is an insane amount of adrenaline pumping action that is non-stop.
The Postives
Before seeing the movie, I've heard people say that this was the craziest action movie they've seen in a while. Honestly, I thought they were over-exaggerating cause I've seen some shitty action movies back then. Thankfully, I was proven wrong. I only saw the movie on TV, so the experience wasn't as riveting. Don't let that stop you from seeing it though. Like I've said 100's of times before, The Raid franchise has to be the best action movies I've ever seen in my entire life. I honestly think nothing can compete with it. What makes these action sequences so awesome is the fact that it is brutal and well choreographed. People get shot, cut up, have their bones broken, get their necks slit, and so on. Violence in certain movies I actually find quite fun as it can be gratifying to see. I have major respect for foreign filmmakers and actors as they know how to direct action sequences. They make them feel authentic, riveting, and most importantly, REAL. Maybe not 100% real, but captivating nonetheless. The character of Rama is a major badass. He is the pure definition of the word! No matter what, this dude will throw your ass down to the ground. Another great performance was by Yahan Ruhian who played "Mad Dog." Ruhian's character is kind of like Rama's, except more psychotic. Despite being a short dude, he has to be the scariest motherfucker out of all of the characters in the movie. Some of the story's elements were actually quite good. There was a good connection between Rama and his brother, and a cool twist that was unexpected.
The Negatives
However, those are just small aspects to the movie's story. It was actually quite forgettable. As a matter of fact, when you look at the way The Raid is structured, it feels more like a video game than an actual movie. Rama and his team go through several levels in the building, fight the main boss' goons, and run into the occasional mini boss. All of this is rinse and repeat until they finally reach the main stage. Another negative I have for The Raid is that it feels extremely cliche and coincidental at many moments. There's one moment in the film where he throws himself and some other dude out a window to get to a lower floor. Rama lives, the goon dies, and what's strange is that they go straignt down instead of at an angle. It's these little moments that make me call bullshit on it. One last on I have is that the action can feel overwhelming at times since there is just so much of it. The movie's still fun though!
Overall: If you're a lover of action films or martial arts movies, I implore you to see this movie. You won't be disappointed at all. Shieettt once the movie ended my head was still in a rush. I literally bought Hotline Miami after this because I needed something to continue this fucking rush! Also, the movie is spoken in Indonesian, so I hope you don't mind reading for a bit.
I didn't put too much time into thinking these out, but I'd say these are my favorite movies right now. It's been awhile since I've seen most of them though. I really need to rewatch the whole lot of them.
Favorite movie:
Donnie Darko.
In no particular order, the remaining nine:
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Back to the Future (Parts 1-3—I might be cheating).

Mean Streets is one of the major films that got Martin Scorsese noticed as a director, and stars Harvey Keitel & Robert De Niro. This movie also started the beautiful partnership between De Niro and Scorsese. So, Mean Streets is about Charlie (Keitel) who is in a constant struggle with his morals. On one hand, he wants to be a good man, much like St. Francis. On the other hand, he wants to become a well respected gangster around his neighborhood. Having trouble seeking guidance, he decides to use his best friend, Johnny Boy (De Niro), as his moral compass. Some of you may have already seen me talk smack about this film, but I feel the need to go into more depth about it.
The Positives
One of the few positive things I have to say about this film are the performances of each cast member. I have to say, they were genuinely good. Keitel was really good as Charlie as you could see he really is struggling to find a balance between his good side and his inner demons. The one who completely steals the show here is De Niro as Johnny Boy. Johnny Boy has to be one of the biggest douchebags I've ever seen in film. However, he's a likable douchebag. Seriously, whenever De Niro comes on screen, he kills it every time. Johnny Boy is a misfit, a wild card that has no care in the world. Another positive I have for this film is it's soundtrack. I don't often mention soundtrack in movies, but it really stands out here. It ranges from 50's-60's rock and R&B, and Scorsese has masterfully implemented them into his movie.
The Negatives
I have quite a lot of negatives to say for this film, and they greatly out way the positives sadly. In terms of direction, I honestly think this is Scorsese's worst as it's extremely awkward. Some of the scenes that are shown make no sense at all. Some I do understand like one representing life during that time period and how certain people were mistreated. However, there is a lot that isn't cohesive to the film's plot. As a matter of fact, I feel like they go off course a lot during the movie. Along with the awkward directing, the editing was pretty bad - especially by the end. Speaking of the ending, I didn't like it at all. It didn't feel like a conclusion, and I was just left thinking: "That's it?" There were many questions in the end left unanswered, and I can't forgive the movie for that.
Overall: Upon going into this film, I was expecting it to be like GoodFellas or Casino as it is considered a crime flick. The thing is, it's not a very well crafted one in my opinion due to its awkward direction and lack of coherency. If you expect Mean Streets to be like those movies I just mentioned, then I suggest skipping this. However, if you just want to see it for Keitel and De Niro, then I suggest doing so because they are great here. Maybe one day I'll gather a liking to this film as I watch it a bit more. As of now, it's just a big ol' let down to me.

So Alien is on TV right now, and I remembered hearing something about Prometheus 2 being made. So I looked it up and apparently yes, Prometheus 2(now known as Alien: Paradise Lost) is indeed set to release in 2017. I also found out that a Aliens sequel starring Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn is rumored to be in the works.
Anyone excited about this? As a fan of the franchise(s), I'm looking forward to the films.

I liked the first and the second is called one of the best sequels of all time but after that I haven't really cared. Sigourney's character died in the 3rd but they brought her back to life in the 4th which is set like a few hundred years after the 3rd and blabla.
