  • I just know I'll feel like I won a pyrrhic victory in the end. I'm very much enjoying the moral ambiguity of the factions in this Fallout... makes for some hard and emotional decisions, unlike my F:NV playthrough where I was all 'ave Caesar for the evulz, muahaha', or FO3 where I was a bipolar nutcase helping the BoS one moment and kill-satting them the next.

(I did really love New Vegas tho)

Same, except I took them out for the Institute. Walked right in with my T-60 and a minigun and tore them to shreds. I felt like a real scumbag...

  • If you need help with it, there's several interactive maps.

Here's the location from the pipboy map. Are you talking about the Mirelurk Queen? Yeah, those are tough. I had to mini nuke it twice. If you go across the ocean from The Castle to the little island, you can fight another one.

Spoiler free, huh? I helped the tea party kill a large shellfish. Norwegian Raiders? Where?

  • This is for Little Lamplight, Bitch! Who's the fucking mungo now?!

Raiders speaking Norwegian makes me think of Vikings (Yes, I am aware that Vikings spoke Norse. But they lived in Norway all the same).

Pray tell, are these just your typical sociopathic-maim-you-and-torture-you-and/or-dismember-you-and-have-hang-from-the-ceiling-in-various-states-of-dismemberment raiders, or what?

So what did everyone do recently in Fallout 4? (spoilers if necessary) I met a character who sounded like Chloe from LIS. Sure enough, it is the same voice actress. And I also met a group of raiders who spoke Norwegian.

  • He looks like he likes it

  • I looked it up. If you translate the Norweigan they basically just want to be left alone and return to their homeland. They're ghouls, I think.

Another question, to find out that Danse is a synth. Do you have to ask the BOS for help while building the teleporter? because if that's true, I kinda screwed up. If it also helps, I'm at the point where I think I have to choose a side, quest is called The Battle Of Bunker Hill I believe.

  • So guys, anyone romanced a companion yet? If so, who? I went with Piper.

  • Well my first was Cait. She is my favorite so far

  • I kinda don't like her that much. Kinda a pain to get her to like a good character without running around in your underwear, taking chems until her quest, and picking locks. The others are easy to get max affinity with the exception of Strong. That guy just wants to kill and eat everything, but for some reason likes successful speech challenges.

  • Everyone keeps talking about the Battle of Bunker Hill. I never got this. I built Liberty Prime and freedom'd my way to victory against the Railroad and Institute.

I feel like I accidently missed out on something because I said "Fuck it, my son's a little shit and the railroad are a bunch of radical nutjobs, Brotherhood of Steel! Ad Victorium!"

    Clint: Just friends, huh?

Piper: Uh, well, yeah. I guess I thought so. Unless, you know, something changes. Did it get hot in here?

Legendary Glowing DeathClaw comes out of nowhere and kills Piper then Clint

another reason why I'm hyped to get Fallout 4 soon, so much randomness

    that video is hilarious too

  • I went with Piper for my main (Chloe). Kind of disappointed in the romance, but it's really not a focus in this kind of game, and it does give benefits, so whatever.

I'm not sure who Fuckface will romance(I couldn't resist making a joke character).

  • I'm not going to, just because from a story perspective it seems a bit bizarre my character would just move on from his recently-dead wife that fast.

  • Yeah the battle's pretty cool. A massive three-way firefight between the BoS, Railroad and Institute. You missed it because you went straight for the jugular, rather than stringing Shaun on for a bit.

Woah woah woah! The railroad is too extreme, but you sided with the wasteland Nazis? They want to exterminate ghouls and synths for Fuhrer Maxson. The doctor even makes you take a purity test!

  • I dunno, drug abuse, public nudity and larceny sounds like a good time to me.

I guess I should explain myself on this then, I'll do it by group:

The Minutemen: They're awesome and if I had faith in them to be able to keep a stable commonwealth then I would have chosen them. However, I see them as more as the police to the Brotherhood's army.

The Institute: Don't even get me started on these loons. At first, I thought it was all pretty good until I dug deeper. The Institute has all this amazing advanced technology but it's squandered. Let's look at their projects: Cyborg project that effectively extended human life and abilities (Cancelled), Synthetic robot slaves which would normally be good except that stupid scientists went "You know what would be cool? Free will. Look at that! They're trying to escape, so adorable, send our new emotionless terminators after them." and they basically ruined that, FEV and for real do I even need to explain this one? The fact that not only do they experiment with it but Father refuses to shut it down until Virgil forces it, Super Seeds which is actually really cool and would be useful but they decide replacing the people with synths to create it was a better idea than anything else? Let's face it, they're a bunch of nutjobs with too much time, basically the think tank except worse (They suck at their jobs! Their way of helping people is "We'll blow up your house to test our new explosives which kills your family and destroys your house but it will make all other houses stronger)

The Railroad: There are a few things that make me dislike the RR. First, if the institute stopped giving the Synths free will then there will be ZERO reason for the RR to exist. Second, the only want to free the Synths and nothing else for any humans, they're radicals. Third, in their ending they destroy the institute...The place making the synths...Basically they pissed and killed everyone off to free maybe 100 synths. Finally, they're worthless. The have zero organization or control.

The Brotherhood: The Brotherhood has many parts to it, the West Chapter, The East, and now this one. I'll break each down quickly and my thoughts on them. West Coast are hoarders of tech that could help everyone and are mean, I don't like them that much. The East actually helped people and diverted away from the West's goals. However, Maxson's brotherhood is a combination of both, a new chapter devoted to helping the people by removing dangerous technology from those who would abuse it and use it to defend the people. I don't agree with the genocide on all ghouls, synths, super mutants, etc. However, most of them wouldn't be a bad thing. Let's face it, the Brotherhood has a great point, look at the wasteland and see what the abuse of technology has caused...Not just the actual wasteland but also Deathclaws and Super mutants. They need to stop it.

Over all, the Brotherhood and Minutemen are the only two who can actually bring order and stability to the Commonwealth and that's who I sided with.

Does anyone know how I could side with The Minutemen? I never got the quest line to do that as I only have the Institute, Railroad, and BoS

EDIT: I meant how do you side with them against the Institute.

  • I didn't really like the Brotherhood of Steel here either. They didn't feel like the ones under Elder Lyons regime. Unless they're more the same and I haven't been paying full attention lol. But still, I respect Elder Lyons more.

    Piper or Hancock for me.

Cute, yet eccentric reporter and the chill as fuck ghoul mayor.

I also thought X6 was pretty cool, for a Courser. Reminds me of the Terminator.

So how are your guys favorite companion? Mine is Cait at the moment because she actually doesn't mind when I ask for money or steal things. Still I haven't ran into Nick or Hancock yet, but I hear they are really cool

  • I hate Strong. Dislikes literally everything that is essential for you to do like lockpick shit.

Piper for my main character and Codsworth for my joke character. Nick is pretty awesome too. Honestly I've liked all the ones I've met aside from Strong and (sorta) Cait.

  • I love how Veronica and (I think) several BOS members reference Elijah going MIA in the main game. I wonder if it was meant for set-up and they knew that they would make Dead money from the beginning, or if it they decided later on to make something from it.

I miss the time when the Eastern chapter of the Brotherhood was under Lyons; they were great. 'Twould seem that prejudice stands by war as never fundamentally changing.

  • Yeah, they are diffrent than in Lyons' era, wherein they sought to not only record and salvage the past, but also protect those around them (something usually shunned by the Brotherhood should it cause them to diverge from their goals or if it did not serve the Brotherhood at large, which it did not in Lyons case). The Brotherhood under Arthur Maxson has largely regressed back to its roots, with the death of both Elder Lyons and that his daughter shortly thereafter.

I would imagine that the idea sprung during the development of New Vegas, hence the references.

The way I understand it, is that the Eastern chapter expanded under Maxson. And that the one in the Commonwealth is indeed still that very chapter.
