A lot of people actually like Emily it's just the game portrays her in a way to try make her dislike able when in reality makes her more likable and entertaining when she is so mean when I was playing imo
I think this section would have been more tense if we were playing this part from Emily's point of view, and the player was given clear evidence that Emily was refusing Mike's advances, but Matt misinterpreted the scene and quickly assumed the worse.
What if we were given the choice to (Insist: I didn't cheat on you, Matt!) and (Give in: Okay, I'm sorry I cheated.) and we're left wondering if Matt would let Emily die or no depending on our choice and past actions.
Motivated. Ambitious. Athletic. Although not great when it comes to dealing with heavy situations, you actually put your common sense to good use unlike many others would do in situations that call for it. You are loyal to those you care about, and you tend to forgive than to get payback.
Check out what I found on Deviantart. A crossover featuring eight different survivors who had to survive different types of monsters.
Hats off to you, Yhrite.
Late to the party, but I'm glad someone else here likes Ashley. Don't know why people say she's irrelevant if people like Matt and Jess had little screen time
Okay, I may be a bit late in doing this, but here we are. I shall list the eight from favourite to least so.
* CHRIS: As if there was a… moreny competition. He is a reflection of myself (save for his courage; I would probabky be rendered catatonic in those situations) in that he has a laughable sense of humour (pun intended), is obsessed with technology and is fiercely loyal to those he considers friends. He is impossible for me not to like.
* ASHLEY: I can already hear you reaching for your gun safe, pitchforks and torches, but please hear me out. As a character, I did not mind her. As someone who is academic, inquisitive, and is prone to anxiety like her, I guess I simply feel drawn to her as a character. Plus, she has a crush on my favourite character. I will agree that she is the most useless, but not the worst nor (god forbid I say this) the most annoying in my opinion.
* MATT: A nice guy, but a bit bland. I cannot say much more.

Well, to be fair, Matt and Jess are not a part of the larger group per se. Once they are seperated from the group entirely, their actions become their own story arcs in and of themselves. Ashley, still being a part of the larger group, Is largely irrelevant to the group (aside from the possible deaths of Chris and Emily). I still like her character, but I can see where others are coming from.

I didn't like the resolution for Jess and Matt if they survived. I just wanted to see them actually regroup at the end is all I'm saying.
One of the main reasons why I liked Ashley was because of her chapter with Chris when all the supernatural shit was going on. I thought her reactions were funny. That and her relationship with Chris solidified my liking for her. All I wanted to do was ensure that BOTH of them were safe.

If anything Mike was innocent of the whole cheating thing not emily. Emily lies to matt and goes to find mike, then there's that conversation. Thats all we really know about it.
I still maintain that neither were cheating and matt is just paranoid however when emily "admits" to it on the fire tower I dont know when she is referring too. I mean there is no way they just had sex after matt and ashley watched them, mike immediately shows up next to jess. So if they did cheat it was before that. If we knew when the new coupes started dating and when mike and emily got back together (if they did) we could make a judgement.

Its weird after seeing more and more playthroughs I just start hating ashley more and more. Has anyone elses opinion of the character shifted over time?
Its interesting to see how my opinion changed of each character
Sam- Went down. I dont dislike her however a lot of what she does in the game is quite stupid, and also she doesnt develop much either. I liked her a lot more the first time round
Chris - Same
Mike- Went up. Hes easily the most proactive
Emily- Went up - Quite a lot really, she was my least favourite however I just begin to see how proactive she is also.
Jess- Went down. I felt bad for her intially however she really is so damn annoying at the start
Josh - Same
Matt- Went down - He's just not really that interesting. Also that DLC scene with emily he is so cringeworthy
Ashley Went down.- I'm really struggling to find any moment in the game where I like her default character, not a choice moment but any point unaffected by the player.
I think now I would rank them now
1.Chris
2.Mike
3. Sam
4. Jess
5. Emily
6. Josh
7. Matt
8. Ashley
Only for Josh. Hated his guts at first, eventually started to like him as a character. I can't help but feel bad for the fella. The dude's got problems man, and he didn't intend for anybody to get hurt! Wish there was a bitter/sweet ending for him at the very least.
Sam - Neutral character. Sure she's hot and she's helpful but there's absolutely nothing special about her. YOU BARELY PLAY AS HER UNTIL THE END FOR CHRIST SAKE!
Chris - Love this man. Very good character, and I couldn't bare to see him or Ashley die.
Mike - I feel like I shouldn't like this guy because he's a douchebag in the beginning. But he did grow on me during his sections. I like him.
Jess - Died on my first playthrough, but after seeing her go through the shit, can't help but feel bad for her. But just like Matt, poor ass handling of her character.
Emily - Fuck her. I hate her, but I didn't want anyone to die so she has that going for her.
Matt - Kinda liked him at first. Completely forgot he was in the game after. Seriously, poor ass handling right there.
Ashley - I liked her. I found her chapter with Chris during the supernatural stuff extremely funny. I know many found her overreacting annoying, but I didn't. Mainly because I had the same thoughts as her throughout the chapter. And because she's a love interest for Chris, definitely didn't want her dying anytime soon. She's cute too. But I do think her letting Chris die depending on your actions is unforgivable.

If you know them, you have a good chances that everyone who can be saved, will be saved.
If not, you still get "enjoyment" out of all those failures after you realize that's just a game in retrospect. Then you're likely more compelled to try and save everyone at your next run.

Really? To me, it looked like she had just seen that blonde guy's execution in Vikings
I hate to say it, but she and I are pretty alike. From the naive childishness right down to the painful insecurity.
Am I the only one who likes Emily?
Nope, she's one of my favourite characters ♡
.

I dont know why but I just really liked Matt. Maybe its because me and him are a lot alike.
I got Sam... lol
I hope that we can leave out the psycosis as well.
A lot of people like her. I despise her with a passion, however.
So you LOVE Chris but HATE Ashley.......irony? Or did she not save him in your lp?
You are awesome WTW you should never feel insecure.
I didn't like Ashley very much because her character wasn't very developed and because I was running out of space.
It seems you either love Emily or you loathe her, with no amount of neutrality between.
Chris is my fav character and Ashley is my least fav character.
Cool
Those are both legitament reasons
She's cool in my book.

Indeed! Rather creative!
I got Mike.
This was unexpected.
