What is the saddest death/moment you've ever witnessed on screen?
For me, it would have to be the crucifixion in Mel Gibson's 2004 film: The Passion Of The Christ.
The brutal torture scenes and crucifixion was so gruesome that a woman is reported have actually fainted in the theater.
Whether you're religious or not, just o watch somebody go through so much, was very hard to watch. I actually shed a few silent tears. It's always hard to watch a fellow human being suffer.
I would include some clips, but due to their graphic nature, and the fact that we have some younger users on here, I will forgo it.
However, I will include the trailer for the film, just to give you some idea of the nature of the movie.

The saddest moment I'd have to pick would be when Hawkeye on MAS*H had a nervous breakdown, and finally was able to recall why it happened.

Comments
On screen in anything? I'd say Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
Tyreese's death in The Walking Dead. I don't think I've ever cried so hard in any movie/show before. The entire episode was executed beautifully. I was a mess by the end...I've never really broken down for movies and shows but this I did.

John Coffey- The Green Mile
I almost cried like a bitch during that scene.
Big Spoilers but... still heart breaking personally. Mainly the reasons I stopped praying to the Star Wars Gods, and became a Believe in the Gundamu. Gundam when I was a teenager literally changed my world. They're never black/white stories.

The Terminator, T2. He died for our sins.
I was 8. Come on. That's the only one that really comes to mind. That, and Littlefoot's mom.
WHYF
I nearly cried at a few of them.
Jay's Death: Marble Hornets Entry #80 (?)
Sadly, I couldn't find a specific video dedicated to that scene alone, But yeah, it was insanely sad seeing the character we had lived through and watched experience all of these happenings died so close to the end of the story, so close to the truth. It sucked.
Vegeta's Final Atonement: Dragon Ball Z
enter link description here
I've never been sure what was sadder about this moment. Vegeta's final realization that he's been wrong all along and cares for his family, or the fact that his sacrifice was completely in vain. But either way, this was an insanely sad moment.
Terminator 2: T-600 (I think that was his model name)
enter link description here
This movie scared the fucking shit out of me when I was younger, but I've gotta admit, I cried a lot when he died. It was such a powerful moment.
Sarah: The Last of Us.
enter link description here
I give a lot of shit to the Last of Us for a lot of reasons. I didn't like it and I really never will like it, but it certainly was sad as fuck seeing this bright little girl die within the first few minutes. It was super fucked up.
Krillin's First (of many) death: Dragon Ball

I can't fucking watch this scene without tearing up. I just can't.
T-800 series, Cyberdyne model 101.

THIS
Huh?
Ah, thank you. It's been such a damn long time since I've seen it.
Sorry, first episode after the break and spent an entire episode on it? All I could think of was "Oh, I guess he backed out of his contract and now they're biding time to rewrite everything."
Not to mentioned I thought that was a little too much "FEEL SAD! ARE YOU FEELING SAD YET?!" type of cinematography.
Depends if you talk about saddest moments from TV shows, movies or video games.
Oh, and before I start, just putting this just to be sure:
From TV shows:
From video games:
Eh, none movie moment made me cry, so I'm gonna leave that out.
the walking dead beths death it was quite a shock when it happened
Kirby Right Back At Ya! - The robotic dogs end caused me to shed tears. Then, came "Dedede's Snow Job", my love of snowmen in my youth, seeing one of my favorite helpers from Kirby Super Star: Chilly the Snowman, in the animated flesh was a nice surprise. When the ice monster was vanquished and the sun returned, we see Kirby pull up his friends hat and reveal a tiny Chilly melting. I began to blubber immediately. Then, the waterworks followed. I gushed a few more with tiny Chilly waving goodbye to his newfound friend. Then, heartbreak city with Chilly's cap and bell sinking into the water. Boy howdy.
Doctor Who - "Dalek" Near the end of the episode where the Dalek and the Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) have the final confrontation, but not with action; with words.
The pent up emotions of the Time War, "I couldn't...I wasn't...Oh Rose, they're all dead" And despite the Dalek, absorbing Rose's DNA, choose death instead of becoming something more. Given the creatures history, I can see why. I don't know why I shed tears sometimes at that moment before it does away with itself. Maybe it was facing death with dignity, maybe it was sympathy I've gained for that particular Dalek. But the final lines with it and Rose really tugged at my emotions, and I've SEEN some pretty emotional moments where I didn't even bat an eyelash, or I was crying on the inside. And when the Dalek destroys itself, Eccleston's expression matches my own.
A powerful moment and I don't know if anything else in the New Series that comes close.
TV Show:
Movies:
and im sure there is more but i cant think of them anymore.
Video Games:
and now i cant remember more...
YES
Back when Doctor Who used to be good. It used to be so great when Russell T Davies was in charge, didn't take itself too seriously and was a little cheesy but still managed to deal with darker and sadder themes.
TV:
Video games:
Dem middle fingers, though.
10/10
I'm gonna seem like a gigantic weener, but Mufasa's death in Lion King used to get to me hardcore when I was a kid. Simba crying and trying to get his dad to "get up" fucking killed me, man.
That was a good one.
Rocky series:

In Creed:
In other movies:
Love the middle fingers lol.
Video Games
Movies
Forrest Gump - Bubba's death (screw Jenny)
Schindler's List - The ending
Up - The intro
Straight Outta Compton - Eazy E's death (They did a really good job with this one)
How to Train Your Dragon 2 - Stoick's death
The whole beginning of EP4 Life Is Strange. When Chloe asked Max to help kill herself, I felt tears forming in my eyes. That rarely ever happens to me with video games.
Thanks, my guy!
From Movies:
John Coffey - The Green Mile
From TV Series:
Tyreese - The Walking Dead
Sherlock (sort of) - Sherlock: The Reichenbach Fall
From Video Games:
Obviously Lee, I mean we are on TTG forums so what else would you expect
Other than that, I have to say Eli Vance, his death was really heartbreaking to me especially with the credits music in EP2 not helping to ease up the situation
lost - Charlie pace's death
game of thrones - Robb Stark's the dreadful red wedding
Yeah, I prefer Eccleston's short run, to all of Tennant, Smith & Capaldi's runs. Forgive me fans, of those eras I just voiced my personal opinion.
Plus, the War Doctor is something of a decent concept. Plus, JOHN HURT.
fuck lori.
I didnt even like her in the comics aha
Hodor, Shit I cried.
#HoldTheDoor
I don't usually get emotional towards most things but that got to me
Me too.
I usually don't cry at sad GoT deaths, but Hodor's though... like the Red Wedding wasn't enough. ;-;
