I think temporarily working together so they can both get somewhere safe makes enough sense

  • particularly in Jane's case.

Didn't understand this part. Last I recall, Kenny's flashback is the one spent with them hugging, Kenny apologizing for his mistakes, him getting painted as the poster boy and 10/10 guardian, them both at ultimate happiness... so on, pure fan service and milking of his character.

At least Jane's episode 4 flashback attempted to give some insight to her decision with the "you don't even need me anymore" line and actually kept the character's flaws at light instead of being literally just some utopian 5 minutes where Kenny just becomes this perfect father and where they don't seem to be bothered by the apocalypse at all anymore.

And then they made the flashbacks for Episode 4, which were completely apologetic fanservice and pointless, particularly in Jane's case.

I suppose that is also a way to look at it, but what I meant was that Kenny's was a reminiscing retrospective type deal addressing certain later aspects of his overly large history, while Jane's basically amounted to "Oops, sorry we dropped you along with the bodies of our victims, Clementine! Oh--guess you don't really need me around after all. I'll try to keep that in mind...." rather than doing much to develop her late game tacked on character or address several concerns and issues leading up to her ending.

  • I know this is a bad spot to post this but I didn't want to make a whole thread just for it.

So, while on the Australian Classification Board, I noticed this:

TellTale's The Walking Dead: Season One - Rated R18+

For those who don't know, season one of the Walking Dead was only rated MA15+. Now, I know this probably means nothing, but I also found this:

TellTale's The Walking Dead: Season Three - Rated R18+

Again, only episode 3 of ANF is rated R18+ while rest are MA15+. But the thing is, it calls it Season three, whereas this one:

TellTale's The Walking Dead: A New Frontier

Is called by the correct name and has the correct rating.

I know this probably means nothing but I just wanted to point it out.

  • Holy crap!

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I found this really cool and wanna share it.

In the original version of No Going Back, Jane and Kenny's fight was quite different in terms of positioning, in that Jane and Kenny were both trying to throttle one another. It made me jump when I saw it, but wowser does it look ... kinda badass!

    enter image description here

Here's a link to a video of it, though the camera angles obviously are kind of out of whack because the final version of the game had a waaay different scene!

I'm not sure which I prefer, as I worry I might operating under the 'grass is always greener' fallacy when I see this and think "MAN THAT LOOKS AWESOME!" I'd imagine this was changed because of how open ended the fight was left in this scenario, as the choices are still "SHOOT KENNY" or "LOOK AWAY", but it's not immediately clear who's going to win the fight. @Graysonn has told me that, in actuality, the choices were originally 'shoot Kenny' and 'shoot Jane', but this was changed because lots of people chose to shoot Jane.

For comparisons sake, this is the final form of this scene:

    enter image description here

So, yea, just something I saw and found really friggin' interesting \o/

  • Oh yeah, I remember when we found this and posted it here last year--cause a huge derail that meant some good material had to be lost when the mods reigned it in.

I honestly wish they had kept that. As much as I hate Jane, the fact that Kenny always has to be a big deal no matter what is kinda annoying. And most importantly, it would've meant the scene would've been more even as a result.

The choice was actually originally 'shoot Jane' or 'shoot Kenny'. According to Gavin Hammon (voice of Kenny) practically everyone in playtests chose to shoot Jane so it was changed to 'make it even' (which I really don't agree with). It always annoyed me how Kenny was somehow able to get the upperhand despite having his stomach slashed open.

Not to mention all the obnoxious hyping they did with Jane, who really should've put up a far better fight.

Wait...I thought every one siding against Kenny?

The music track that plays when Clementine comes back with the injured Gabe and tells Javi about David is called 'GabeFoughtZombieDavid,' which would imply that not only did Gabe have to put down his own dad, he actually had to fight the zombified David in order to do it.

It'd be one thing to put down something that just died, or hasn't gotten back up yet. But imagine having to actually fight a zombified family member AND put them down. Imagine your own dad tackling you to the ground, and you having to push him off of you and smash his head in. Shit would suck.

  • I thought that was obvious, to be honest.

  • Yeah. I posted this about a year ago. Nevertheless it's still good to revive the detail so it gets more exposure!

  • Not to diminish Gabe's credit here, but I never got the impression that David was particularly heavy or strong. More skilled in basic combat, sure, but not big. I always just thought the larger Javier couldn't bring himself to actually fight back.

Not to mention your dad being a big army guy

  • Yeah, honestly it pisses me off how Jane is the only character that has flashbacks that make her character look bad, whilst Kenny and even Edith seem to have purely positive characteristics in theirs. The bias continued and I was hoping it wouldn't.

    Louche posted: »

Bullcrap, the whole point of that flashback was to make Jane look like an even bigger scumbag for killing herself, or maybe just make it sadder for Clementine. But the bias against Jane makes me think the former.

  • Which is funny considering Jane herself was clearly a Creator's Pet of J.T. Petty, that other guy, and whatever executives were over them to begin with, so Karma?

  • David has a very stocky build and still kicks Javi's ass even if you fight back every time
