The Walking Dead The Final Season Full Episode Synopsis
Hey all before I get started I just want to point out that I really don't have any definitive “proof” and its just going to be putting your faith in my word. My best guess is Telltale will either not say anything about this post or claim it isn't real as they dont want to admit the info got out early. Now that that is out of the way, here is a summary of episode 1. I will attempt to keep it short.
To start, the beginning is NOT what Telltale showed at comic-con. There is a scene before hand. The game actually starts in Richmond, and you are not playing as Clem, you are playing as Javier. This scene takes place about a year after Season 3. It is late at night and Javier is walking around the town, deterimetaly with his infant son with a baby carrier he is wearing (name will vary between Gabe and David based on who died. If David and Gabe both died, the baby’s name is Gabe. The son also only appears if you told Kate you wanted to start a family) and is approaching the main gate where he meets up with Jesus who is there to catch up on how Richmond is doing/plans on trading. Here they talk, mostly about the state Richmond is in and how well Javier has been leading the community. The conversation eventually leads to them talking about Clem and if Javier thinks Clem will ever return to Richmond or if she is even still alive and found Aj. From here they see headlights from a truck approaching the gate and jokingly say that might be her coming back right now. From here the scene ends and THEN it goes to the comic-con 15 minute teaser which time skips forward. This is also the last time for (at least as of now) you play as anyone other than Clem. The car crashes and “The Walking Dead” logo cuts in.
The car crashes inside of an old cabin, which then collapses from behind, covering the entrance they made through the wall, meaning the car is now “indoors.” After Clem crashes the car she wakes up but is very injured. Aj is gone. This part is pretty similar to the PAX East Demo where Clem is beaten up and wandering in the woods. She hears a gunshot to go and investigate to find Aj who is being attacked by walkers. She grabs him and they escape. Clem questions Aj on why he left the car and he says he wanted to find supplies to help her seeing as she was in a safe spot. Clem isn't doing so well due to the hit on her head, and as they continue to try and get out of the woods Clem starts to fall over. They get swarmed by zombies but a dog (Rosie) swoops in and attacks a few walkers. Following Rosie comes Marlon and a few other kids who rescue Clem and Aj, Clem passes out right as they are rescued.
She wakes up at the boarding schools “hospital wing” with a bandage on her head. There is a small joke as she is the only one there but Rosie the dog has been watching her the whole time and looks very playful, which Clem finds unsettling and is a bit nervous about the dog. You then “talk” to Rosie but every option just leads to her barking and Clem getting worried. The barking is heard by Marlon who enters and sits down next to the bed Clem is in to talk to her. He talks about how she shouldn't worry about Rosie as she is very friendly and then informs her of where she is and who they are. He tells her about how she is at an Old Boarding School, but Clem quickly becomes concerned about where Aj is. Marlon ask if Clem is ready to get out of bed and he will take her to him. Marlon sends Rosie outside and helps Clem out of bed and tells her to follow him. Clem also ask where her hat is, and Marlon tells her they lost it carrying her through the woods after she passed out, which greatly upsets Clem.
Once outside Clem sees the entire school and how large it is. She also notices that everyone else there is a kid which Marlon then tells her the history of how it all formed stating that many of them were there when it all broke out, with the notable exception being Ten who they found, but won't talk about his parents or past life and yes his name is actually Ten, and not because of his age. Ten tries to talk to Clem a few times and add things, but Marlon tells Clem to listen to him over Ten. Violet catches up with Marlon and introduces herself to Clem and also chimes in to discuss how they run things. They reach a music class room and Marlon tells Clem that Aj is inside, and both he and Violet let her go in alone.
Once inside you walk around and explore and follow a piano playing. Once you find the room with the piano, you find Aj who is listening to the music. They reunite, but this scene also introduces Clem to Louis who was playing the piano for Aj. They begin to talk, mostly about Clem and Aj’s arrival, which Louis points out is very unlike everyone else at the school, and again compares it to Ten who they sort of “adopted.” He also invites to try and teach Clem a bit of piano for a small mini game, which you can choose to participate or not in. After whichever you do, Louis says that it's about time they all go and eat.
Where the kids all go and eat is at the school cafeteria, complete with the fold out tables. This also introduces the school's “mascot” the old school lunch lady who many of the kids disliked, but was killed by walkers early on. They keep her on a leash as a “guard dog” for their food supplies but Marlon says he feels that's untrue and its just because the kids hated her. (It's a talked about thing at the school as many characters may bring up how either they think using her as a guard dog is wrong and others thing it's smart) For example the biggest focus on this dilemma is when its first introduced where Marlon thinks its wrong, while Violet likes it.
The cafe scene reuses a popular choice from season 2 with the whole, choose what table you want to sit at. This time you can either sit with the people you already got to meet, that being Louis, Marlon, and Violet, or you can go and sit with the other characters, those being Josh, Brody, and Sal. No matter who you sit with, Ten will join that table. From here you get more backstory on Ten and the other characters. Sitting with the characters you already met has Clem act a bit more trusting, and them more trusting to her. Sitting with the characters Clem has not met yet, both sides are a bit untrusting, except for Ten who wants everyone to play a game. If sitting with Marlon’s crew, they will introduce you to the other table where you meet them, but don't get as much detail about them. Sitting with the new characters, Marlon and crew comes over to tell Clem where she will be sleeping. Before leaving Sal takes out her camera and says its tradition to have pictures of all the residents on the main halls bulletin board. She takes the pic and says she plans to post it by tomorrow, and puts the polaroid in her jacket pocket. Violet is the one to lead her out.
Violet brings Clem to the bedroom her and Aj will be sleeping in. Once inside she asks Clem about her past, and Clem can answer in a few ways (bringing up things like her parents, Lee, Kenny, Jane, Javier, ect. She also can bring up a few past events like the St Johns, the dog bite and having to sew her arm, getting shot, and her time with the New Frontier group) Violet will leave them on their own, which leads to Aj asking Clem what she thinks of the school and if they are going to stay. Clem can then express to Aj how she feels. They then go to sleep and wake up the next morning.
Clem has a small nightmare which is a playable freeroam area. Clem walks in a twilight forest with walkers and hears voices of people she knew who have died. These voices include Lee, Javier, her parents, Christa, Omid, Rebecca, Alvin, Carver, and Luke, and determinately Kenny, Jane, Edith, and Gabe. Your goal is to reach the voices in the distance while fighting off walkers. You follow the voice until you reach a walker that faces away from Clem, but is not hostile. Approaching it will reveal that it is a horribly decomposed Clem Walker which lashes out and bites her, causing Clem to wake up.
Morning comes and a note is left outside their room from Marlon. The note tells Clem to meet him in the cafeteria for breakfast, where they will discuss what Clem will do to help out around the school. Clem goes and meets with Marlon who is sitting with the oldest member of the school, a girl named June who is about 21. She is the school’s “doctor” as her family ran a local veterinary and her parents taught her a lot, although she still doesn't understand everything. Marlon introduces them and explains how June was responsible for patching Clem up. Marlon tells Clem how they are looking for someone who also knows more about medicine and ask if she has any doctor-like experience, where Clem can answer again about how she once sewed her arm up, and can also determently talk about her missing finger and how she had to amputate it. Marlon then discusses how at the moment they need scavengers and thinks Clem would be a perfect fit. He tells her that they are planning on doing a scavenging run a bit later for supplies and tells Clem she should come with. Clem will agree and you are then free to explore the school campus and do mini side quest and learn more about some of the kids before departing. To start the scavenging mission, find Marlon at the gate and talk to him. Clem says goodbye to Aj, and tells him to hang out with Ten because they can become good friends.
Once you talk to Marlon, you are split up into 2 groups. Clem is put with Marlon, Rosie, Louis, Sal, and a boy named Vex. The other group is Violet, Brody, Josh, and a kid named RZ. They break up and explore looking for places to scavenge supplies. Clem, Louis, and Marlon talk as they scavenge an old scrap yard, and Louis flirts a bit with Clem which makes Marlon feel a bit uncomfortable. Another freeroam happens where you go and find stuff to bring back. The sun begins to set and they agree it is time to go back as they walked for a long time to even reach where they were now. As they leave Marlon’s walkie talkie goes off. On the other end is Brody who is in a panic telling Marlon to pick up. Marlon answers and Brody reveals that a group of adults came and surrounded them as they were making their way back to the school. Brody tells them that they took Violet with them, but let the rest all go. Marlon ask why and Brody tells him that the men were looking for a girl in a baseball cap with a big blue D on it named Clementine. She then warns Clem that they also wanted Aj. Marlon tells Brody where she and her group need to go so they can all group up, as this happens car lights in the distance can be spotted and get closer the group. They all hide behind the the scrap in the yard.
The 3 cars pull up, and 6 men step outside. 5 are just goons but the leader is Rory. Rory yells out to the scrap yard that they know that they are there and that they only want to talk to them. He says he is looking for a girl named Clementine who he describes as having short hair and baseball cap with a blue D. Also says she might be with some kid named Aj. Marlon decides he has heard enough of Rory and shoots an arrow at them, hitting one of the goons, killing him. Rory and the rest jump behind cover. A fire fight breaks loose but ultimately leads to Rory getting his men to flank from behind, having them circled. He then takes away their guns, but not their melee weapons or bows. He has them all kneel down. Rory is pissed off that they attacked and is very pissed they killed one of his goons. For this he promptly shoots Vex in the face, say it is only fair that they keep it balanced. He then hounds them asking about the location of Clem if they know any info on her. He starts to suspect that Clem is the Clem he is after but notes that the description “The Boss” gave him doesn't fit. He gets bored and says that he is taking Sal with him for questioning as he doesn't trust that they don't know who Clem is and notes how its too suspicious he just ran into 2 groups of only children. Rory takes Sal away and leaves the rest of the kids behind, warning them if he sees any of them following him he will kill them just like he did to their friend Vex. After they leave Clem takes Vex’s bow.
From here they try and decide what to do next. Louis wants to regroup with Brody and what’s left with her group, while Marlon says they should follow Rory to see where he is heading and rescue Sal and Violet. A choice appears where you can either go with Louis and regroup, or go with Marlon.
Going with Marlon:
Clem and Marlon go after Rory. Marlon gives Rosie to Louis as he goes back to regroup with Brody. They follow along the road on the side, but surprisingly they did not go far, as they find them in a trailer park where there are 3 large campers. They see Sal being dragged into one of the campers. They sneak around and find Violet in one of the other campers and hear her being questioned by “the Boss.” They wait hidden until Rory comes to the camper and knocks on the door and calls out saying that they found another kid. The Boss answers saying he is coming, and leaves the camper. Marlon and Clem hide under the camper and watch their footsteps below from the camper until they walk off. They sneak out from under and go inside the camper and free Violet. Violet tells them he kept asking about Clem’s location and if she ever encountered her. Violet says he didn't hurt her, but he was still threatening. Violet ask who wants to find her and Clem says she isn't sure. She asks if she found out the Boss’s real name and what he looked like, but Violet says they only refer to him as The Boss, but he has dark hair, a long beard, and his left hand is replaced with a hook. She also points out how much food supplies they have, Clem and Violet each take a bag to bring back. They leave the camper but look over to the camper Sal is in and see Rory walk out, holding a photo of Clem, the one Sal took. Rory is heard telling everyone that this is who Clem is and what she looks like and that they indeed saw her, and now are going back to try and find them. The Boss’s men in the trailer park all start to get in their cars, and Clem, Marlon, and Violet sneak around trying to escape. Marlon begins to make a plan on where they are going to go, but in a shocking twist, he gets shot in the back by Rory. Marlon falls and Violet and Clem run away and hide again. They watch from the distance, Rory approaches Marlon as he is bleeding out on the ground, mocks him, and then kills him. Rory yells that Clem is in the area and to spread out. Men who got in a car have now left the cars to look for Clem in the trailer park instead now. Violet sees how a car is open and running and its their chance to make a break for it. Sal can be heard screaming from the other camper, Clem can ask about Sal and Violet says they need to leave her or they will all end up dead like Marlon. A choice appears of either getting in the car with Violet or saving Sal. If you run to the car, you get in and take off, getting a head start, but Rory’s men follow. If you save Sal, Violet goes to the car. Clem gets in the camper, frees Sal, and runs out. Violet quickly pulls in front and tells Clem and Sal to get in, saving Sal as they again drive back towards the school.
Going with Louis:
If Clem goes with Louis, Marlon leaves but takes Rosie with him. They reach Brody’s group and then they all decide they need to go back to the school and get prepared for a possible attack. Brody will get a call on her walkie from Marlon, who tells them what he has found out so far. He sees both Sal and Violet who he says are held up in an old trailer park. He says it seems they are being questioned about Clem by someone they are calling “The Boss” who has a hook for a hand. He tells them his plan for breaking them out, but we then hear Rosie bark and someone attack them, the radio cuts off. The group is a bit shaken and decide they need to get back to the school. Once back Louis rallies all the kids to hear the news. Clem meets up with Aj and tells him that bad men are after them, who Aj is also confused about. Clem tells Aj to stay in their room. Everyone gets equipped and ready as they wait in the night for people to come. Suddenly all the lights go off, the schools power has gone out. Flashlights can be seen in the distance and approaching the school. Gun fights break out, and Clem runs inside to find Aj.
If you went Marlon, Violet, Clem, and possibly Sal reach the school with Rory’s men not far behind. They rush in and see that many of the kids are already ready to fight thanks to Louis. Clem ask where Aj is, but then the lights go out. Now we are all caught up from both choices.
Clem enters the building alone with a flashlight and searches for Aj. Fighting can still be heard from the outside. Clem calls out to Aj who we can hear calling Clem back. You find your way up to Aj and Ten, who are both hiding in the girls bathroom. Ten is completely mute and is sobbing. Aj and Clem embrace, but one of Rory’s goons grabs Clem from behind. A fight scene breaks loose and they struggle outside the in the hall and struggle towards the stairs. Aj will run up and stab the attacker in the back of the knee with an arrow from the holster Clem was using. Clem elbows him and he falls down the stairs, but drags Clem with him. They both fall, but the goon takes almost all the damage from the fall. Clem then rips the arrow out of his knee and stabs the back of his head.
Aj will run down the stairs and hug Clem. It isn't soon until they realize Rory is at the bottom of the stairs and pointing a gun at them. Rory is a lot more calm this time, but you can also hear no gun fire outside anymore. Rory tells Clem that his boss has been looking for her for almost over a year now. He remarks how surprised he is that he managed to track her down. Clem can ask who he is and why he is helping “The Boss” and who the Boss even is. Rory tells Clem that he thinks it would be best if she ask that to the Boss herself. He tells Clem to stand up, and another choice comes where you can try to fight him and run, or just go with it. Trying to attack won't work as Rory sees it coming, and pushes her back. He tells her to not try that again, or he will kill Aj, he states that the boss doesn't really care what happens to Aj, so he will not hesitate to do so. They will then walk outside of the building.
Outside Clem and Aj are escorted through the campus and Clem sees all the goons have the kids kneeling on the ground. If you did not go with Marlon, Marlon is there too, very beaten, but not dead. Sal and Violet are not seen at all. There are also a few dead kids, mostly unnamed background characters, RZ being the exception (although he really doesn't do much either.) Rory keeps making Clem and Aj walk until they get right outside the school grounds to a parking lot, where a large camper is. Rory makes them kneel down and says she is now going to meet her maker. He goes over and knocks on the Camper door.
The door opens, and The Boss walks out with Clem’s hat, which he swirls around a few times on his hook hand. Clem begins to freak out, saying how this “can’t be real.” The Boss can be heard telling Clem that it is “real.” He then talks about her hat and says how he always wondered what team the hat was from, and remarks that it must have been some kind of local team, Clem will say it was her dads from when he played. The Boss gives a small laugh and says he was right. He then walks over to Clem and puts the hat back on her head. He says Clem has gotten older and then ask if she regrets what she did. Clem can’t answer, but the Boss squats down to look Clem in the eyes. The camera finally pans on the boss’ face to reveal that the Boss is Javier. Javier then says “You will.” and the episode cuts to black.
Javier overall looks much like he did in A New Frontier. He no longer wears the baseball jersey though and his hand has obviously been removed and a hook replaces. His beard is also much longer as well as thicker. There would also appear to be no next time segment although that might be added later. The episode run time is a about 2 hours.
This summary is longer than I was expecting. Again I really don't have any “proof” which sucks because I guess that means wait until August to see. If anyone has any question or something I can do to try and prove it is real further, feel free to ask.
Comments
I really don't see Javier returning after last season
This actually had me shaking, it sounds so good! May I ask where you found this info?
The evil Javier stuff might not be 100% true, but most of this honestly sounds pretty convincing to me! Again, there's no proof of anything, and I can be pretty gullible xD
Well I am glad this isn’t real
I'm really not sure what to make of this, at all. Certainly sounds interesting, though. Like others, I'm curious as to how you came across this information? I haven't seen any script leaks from the deep blue web. By any chance, are you a disgruntled ex-employee?
I really don't see the logic behind not seeing his return. We get it, you hate ANF and wish it never existed but your selfish desires don't overshadow the majority that does want to have his & the VA settlement's fate addressed to some extent.
Outside of this forum, I don't really hear many people trashing ANF, most review sites gave it a favorable score. 4/5 Common Sense Media, 73% Metacritic, & 7.9/10 from Gamespot. Get over it.
Skimming through this just to avoid the possible spoilers, but I have to say, you lost me with those last 3 paragraphs. It reads like a bad fan-fiction.
Javi comes back! But he's evil! He also has a hook for a hand because why not?!
...and this table scene with these other new characters?
Nah, it's too much. We know the main group is Marlon, Louis, Violet and Tenn so these other characters would probably be a bit too much at once.
Sorry, I don't think I can believe you.
Without any real proof this probo fako
Someone doesn't like Javier very much.
To be fair about the Josh Brody and Sal people, I wouldnt say thats a point that leans towards fake (although if we being real this 99% chance of being fake) I mean we do see other kids at the school in the trailers and all. Other stuff yeah lmao Evil Pirate Javier reporting for duty!
Evil Pirate Javier just seems way too over the top & comical to be true, though.
I mean yeah, the show has a guy that likes to pretend he's a Monarch King, but a Captain Hook? I think that would've worked in Michonne's mini-series better than TFS.
Telltale has already said that Javier is not coming back. This is fake af.
@CarverDidNothingWrong
Please quit spreading that rumor, we don't know who is coming back or possess the slightest inkling of what's in store for TFS.
VengefulKenny: "Will we get an explanation for what happened at McCarrol Ranch and why Clem didn't return to New Richmond?"
"Details about the gaps between seasons will come in time, but as to not give away any spoilers, we can't tell you any more yet. I think you'll find the explanations satisfying."

That was good, "The Boss" spoiled the reveal though.
Not sure why this guy above me thinks people are spreading "that rumor", it's not a rumor, it's around the 1 minute mark of this interview.
They said the Garcias will not make a return...
Just let Javi live his life yeeesh!
That’s a good fanfiction
first of all, why is anyone here considering this to be real?
https://telltale.com/community/discussion/comment/2922568#Comment_2922568
I’m certain this is what they’re talking about. Stop dismissing it as a rumor. Sure they said ‘unlikely’ but they’ve still said there’s a high chance of them not returning.
Guys relaxx, we will see really if it's true in August, chill lmao.
Heh, best way to leak info I guess.
While I don't have a source, Telltale HAS confirmed that the Garcias auren't returning for this season. It's not like Telltale to beat around the bush and bend their words, saying things like ' we said Garcias! Not Garcia!' It wasduring another AMA I think. That said, there'll be an explanation for something at least.
Marlon and the cool kids club. First off, the plot is really good but it doesn't fit a walking dead game. Why does this remind me of Ben 10 or some shit? Your story does seem really believable except for when you ruined it with evil pirate javier. Honestly this is pretty good tho, Marlon dying in episode 1 caught me by surprise, you explained the 'Clem, you're in danger' line from Brody pretty well too, and I can imagine this to some extent. I mean, I was trying to figure out who the villain was, maybe someone from the McCaroll Ranch or Christa. I'd also like to touch on how your writing style/skill doesn't really match the plot, eh maybe you wrote this in a rush. But to me, it seems like a hacker/ex-employee would be able to write much better than this. I prob shouldn't have said this it's mean
So I embarrassingly forgot my throw away email and password and you can only sign in with an email so I had to make a new account.
So before I reply to some of your comments I want to make a few things clear. Just because Telltale said Javier is not returning that does not mean he is not returning. Javier is meant to be very surprising, Telltale doesn't want to tell anyone Javier is returning because it ruins the surprise, so instead they just say he isn't returning at all. Telling people Javier is in the game before release ruins the surprise, also I am very positive Javier is the only member of the Garcia family to return so no Gabe, Kate, or David. Just Javier.
Next about the "hook hand." I probably should have said this better. It isn't a hook like a Captain Hook Hook but more like a spear I suppose. It is very similar to what the TV show character Merle's weapon is like. It would appear Javier's hand has been amputated and has a makeshift hook now. He has both of his hands at the start of the episode if that's something anyone was wondering.
The way I wrote this is just meant to summarize the plot. And no I am not an employee of any kind or a writer.
It's not my story so I can't really ruin it. The Javier surprise is pretty good in my opinion once you see it play out. However, I will agree that him having his hand cut off seemed like a strange decision to do. My best guess is episode 2 will explain why Javier is after Clem, but I do not know anything about episode 2.
Fuggin SPOILEEUEERZ!!!
Josh, Brody, and Sal are very minor characters especially Josh as he only has a couple of lines after the dinner scene. They're mostly they're just to flesh out the size and scope of the school as well as being kind of red shirt-y.
I can't say how I was able to play early but I was able to play episode 1 a few times.
I'm not sure if Javier is suppose to be "evil" as it seems he only wants to talk to the other kids, not harm them. Rory however has no problem hurting or obviously killing.
If anyone has any questions about the game such as certain parts of the summary they would like to know more about, ask now while I'm here, I'll try my best to answer
You're so lucky! I've actually been waiting for spoilers I'm not even gonna lie, thank you so much for this! It sounds so interesting, I'm wondering if Javi and Rory are gonna have beef with each other over Rory's extreme methods later on in the season
Javier and Rory don't interact on screen so it is hard to tell if something will happen between them.
I want to ask you about something. You said that Clem will loses her hat BUT in the trailer it's really clear that she had her hat again (scene with Marlon hunting or Violet or next shots)
P.S
Sorry for my Englisch but I'm from Poland
...aaand where did you see this? Telltale didn't show off the entire episode to Comic-Con dwellers afaik.
That's so fascinating to me, I'm really intrigued to find out why exactly Javi is after Clem, and what she possibly could have done to him and his group, it could have taken place during the time skip
Telltale constantly modifies their screenshots and trailers so they don't give away too much info. I'm guessing Telltale thought if the trailers showed Clem without her hat for most of the episode people would be upset. Another example is in the trailer where Ten looks at the graves, it is actually day time, not night.
I have played episode 1 a few times, not at comic-con. The scene is just really well done in my opinion, as all music stops and you head Javier talking as Clem makes worried noises.
Thank you for the answer, I still have 2 question
Sorry for Englisch Again !
I don't know episode 1's name, build I was playing on was for playing the game only, so I didn't even get to see what the main menu looks like.
I would say 2 hours if you just cut to the chase, the section where you explore the school before leaving can probably last about 30 minutes.
So maybe even 2 hours and 30 + minutes with exactly exploring everything yes ??
Oh so now you've played the episode and can't provide any evidence. Okay suuuure
Minor Issue towards the End. Javier said he always wondered about the team the Hat Came from, but at the end of A New Frontier, he said he remembered the team it was from. How did he remember the team then NOT remember it?
