  • Australia is known to censor violent games, or games that have drug usage. The Classification Board from Australia members are 60 year woman who even censored Hello Kitty Island Adventure for being too scary for children.

  • you should be all good you guys have your own classification board alot better than ours :(

Well, our board has been known to censor certain things, so i wouldn't put it past them. By the way, where in Australia you from?

  • Not everything. Just the shit that the board doesn't like, which is a lot.

  • fair enough although i don't think yours is as bad as ours and I am from melbourne

  • like kiwi said not everything is censored what bothers me is that saints row iv got censored for drug use but gta got in uncensored I think they knew how big gta v was and were scared people would really get pissed off and start rioting or something if they even tried to censor the tiniest thing

    I know right

we have mk9 now after 3 years and no New Zealand and Australia are two different countries

  • Nope, New Zealand is about 3 hours flight away.

  • Most companies should do what rockstar did with gta iv they had to censor it and the day it came out they patched everything that was censored back in

  • Does this mean Australians can't play the game? I sound like a total retard, I know. But I AM a total retard so I don't know this shit XD. I'm from Australia too BTW.

  • no it just means some part or parts will be cut out if telltale refused to cut it out then we would not be able to play it

I remember when the "Hot Coffee" mod became available for GTA San Andreas the Australian government temporarily banned it until Rockstar patched it out http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4728261.stm They seem very strict when it comes to censorship.

  • edited February 2014

yea I remember that but I don't think we were the only ones i think even the us had it banned until rockstar patched it

EDIT: The us actually just updated the rating to adults only

I live in Australia but I want to play the full game, not the shitty, cencored, torn to pieces game.

Is there any way I can get around this? I really want to play the game that Telltale intended for me to play.

Sex while fully clothed still gets banned Australia logic

  • TellTale didn't refuse to cut the offending bits out, or else A House Divided would have a RC (Refused Classification) rating.

  • Wait now that I mention it are there any parts of season 1 that were censored that I didn't know about?

  • telltale didn't even bother to submit season 1 to australia the only way you could get it was through the telltale store or steam but consoles did not get it till after 400 days came out

I watched someone from Aus do a playthrough and it look exactly the same as the UK version so i don't think there was any censorship for S1

  • There would be no way unfortunately other than pirating a U.S version which I do not recommend doing

  • @puzzlebox is it possible to tell us what has been censored? If it involves the plot, then just tell us after the release, but I really would like to know what the Aussies (AKA Us :( ) didn't approve of.

  • someone should ask her on twitter I would do it but I don't use twitter

  • Yeah our classification is fucken shit

Cool, Melbourne. I stayed there for about 3 months. It's a great place.

  • Fuck I hate the Australian classification board. I cant remember exactly what it was but Beyond: two souls was rated R for referenced sexual violence. Actually I think that was Metro: last light ( that was R too). Anyway what the does that mean . Also yes, Beyond; two souls and metro: last light was R as well. P.S I live in Australia

  • I've seen a few developers do this on occasion. Warms my heart when a developer has what it takes to spit in the face of what we laughingly call the Australian Classification Board.

  • As a fellow Australian myself I think that even though TWD S2 got a R18 I think that ep 1 was tue same as the us and ep2 should be fine

All I want to know is if it's about the use of drugs or violence. I'm getting pretty sick of people using drugs for medical reasons, for villanous characters like the bandits abusing drugs-and being shown to be fucking insane, not exactly people you want to aspire to be, and still getting cencored because "Drugs are bad Mkayy".

Or when they censor violence without any scientific data backing them up that the depicted violence or other behavior is actually bad for the viewers mental health.

It's fucking madness that they are allowed to censor what content the whole country has access to without proof of it's negative effects on the population.

God forbid we learn that medicine is used to help people sometimes.

  • I am more interested about WHAT it is that they don't want to let it through....

  • Thanks for the advice.

It sucks that I have already bought the season pass, but the tyranny of an unscientific government ruins things I already have paid for for no justified reason.

We're not talking about the R18+ part, we're talking about the "Version: Modified" part.

This isn't the same as Episode 1, this is the same as other games that have been censored in Australia (State of Decay, Saints Row 4, Left 4 Dead 2, and so on).
