  • understandable i suppose. i just got so used to calling it next gen when the consoles first came out that the name kinda stuck with me.

Just a pet-peeve of mine; I find it kind of annoying when people call the current-generation of consoles "next-gen."

  • that's true but what if you really don't care enough to buy a next gen console and you're content with what you have< it's not a bad thing to do to be upset that the consoles you own aren't having games made for them and it's not a bad thing to refuse to move on, you're just passionate about the games. i mean come on, people in the microsoft master race have been whining for 2 years that bloodborne isn't on pc or xbox. it's a normal thing to wish you could play the games.

i still think to this day PS2 is the best console of all time and i refuse to accept that i have to move on with the times.

  • Well, playing a PS1 game is very easy by playing it on a PS1! My question literally has NOTHING to do with newer consoles.

How could I? It's impposible with these new consoles.

You gotta understand, though. It will make it more expensive to work on PS3 and XBOX 360 as well. Considering everyone goes for PS4 or Xbox One, it is a right call.

PS3 launched in 2005. It is super old.

I don't think it's unreasonable. X360 and PS3 are old as fuck by tech standards, and they probably can't even run newer games on a stable performance/decent framerate. I'd rather they spend resources on improving the episode content instead of porting.

(or you could just get a decent PC and not have to worry about platform compatibility for the next 10 years :P)
  • Yeah, I'm planning to buy a good PC very soon.

The Last of Us 2 comes out for PS4

    Fuck... xD

Jokes aside, PC is the best way to go. Having a good PC is like the best thing ever. I'm tired of playing games in low resolutions :P

  • Well I for one consider myself a gamer and I want beautiful games on new consoles if your happy with outdated clunky games thats fine you dont have to upgrade but dont expect the industry to pander to your unwillingness to move forward, you dont get new games. end of. Stop whingeing.

Most games are made by people with a love for gaming and they want to push the tech to its limits thats not bad its great! gaming is having a positive impact on our evolution, surgeons are using vr for example, but whatever some people cant or dont want to pay for better tech so it makes sense to just NOT make it, yeah perfect sense...

Well, of course, they want to make money. And we just accept it and live with that? absolutely needed new consoles abso

  • Then dont buy them ffs

if a xbone/ps4 is too expensive for you then I dont know what your idea of a good pc is but its probably not going to be as great as you think it is.

  • Honestly this is only true if you want 4k and games to look as great as possible, a decent graphics card will last a long time before you need an upgrade.

You realise you have to constantly upgrade pc's right, they get out of date quicker then consoles a new console comes every decade a pc will

  • You are objectively wrong. It doesn't matter if you think the graphics are bad, the games just can't run, look at batman port for reference.

    Rile_Zugo posted: »

ScoersPlotArmour is right. All Telltale games as of today can totally run on last-gen consoles.

  • Yeah I understand. It's because we live in a THROW-AWAY SOCIETY.
We buy things that will only last long enough for ourselves, rather than things that could be passed down to generations and generations.

But on the other hand, I also understand that the next gen console have more features, better graphics etc.

You do know they do this in purpose, right? Older games worked just fine, no need to change fue engine or whatever they changed... yet they

"Communism is the very definition of failure!"

Man I can believe some people are okay with wasting money in things big companies makes us think we need like new consoles... it's painfully obvious they're making it all to get more money and sell even MORE consoles. I hate Capitalism so bad.

  • I absolutely agree with what you said, and most specifically about the PS2. It's a damn classic.

that's true but what if you really don't care enough to buy a next gen console and you're content with what you have< it's not a bad thin

You mean once every 6-10 years? Because that's what happens with a console too.

You realise you have to constantly upgrade pc's right, they get out of date quicker then consoles a new console comes every decade a pc will

  • Because no one wants to waste time trying to port new games on older hardware when they can spend it on trying to make the games port work as good as they can on the new hardware.

You know? Whatever. What bothers me are not new consoles, it's that games are not coming out of old ones. I don't care about lag, really. But these guys don't even give us a choice.

  • Yeah, that's always been strange. Telltale's newer games seem to struggle with their graphical enhancements on even newer platforms despite not exactly being the best-of-the-best.

    Rile_Zugo posted: »

I'm okay with Telltale games not coming to older platforms only if they have current-gen graphics. Current Telltale games all look like last-gen.

  • Honestly, TellTale fans were pretty fortunate that they even got Batman on the 360 and PS3. (Debatable depending on if you liked it, but you know what I mean.)

Even then, I think that version of the game did a pretty fuckin' good job at showcasing that new the engine just simply can't run on last gen. It can't be done. Not putting it lightly, Batman on last gen ran about as well as a fat kid running for the ice cream truck would.

It's understandable to not want to buy a new console. Totally understandable. I didn't really want one either, originally. But its another thing to not want improvement or renovation from a company you might like. That's not really fair to the developers of whatever the game might be. Keep an open mind, my friend.

  • What kind of question is that? A shitton of people do. Just because you can't afford better hardware doesn't mean developers should stick with outdated equipment to appease you.

    Who cares about bettet graphics?

  • Why should companies make cutting edge games only to scale them back so they work on old consoles what a waste of time. Just buy one of the hundreds of games that already exists for the old console.

You know? Whatever. What bothers me are not new consoles, it's that games are not coming out of old ones. I don't care about lag, really. But these guys don't even give us a choice.

  • Really, im not a pc gamer but I was under the impression it was a pain in the ass to keep pc's running new games. I guess I was wrong.

You realise you have to constantly upgrade pc's right, You mean once every 6-10 years? Because that's what happens with a console too.

  • For less then $400 your going to be able to keep running new releases without upgrades for the rest of the ps4/xbone life cycle? Im impressed if thats true, im struggling to believe it though.

  • I have a cpu from 2006 and paid 200$ for my graphics card (750Ti) like 3-4 years ago Nier Automata and Shadow of Mordor which I played recently ran perfectly fine, I have not run into a game recently that I cant play. You said you aren't a PC gamer, so why are you talking about something you don't know about?

Just like consoles, phones and tablets increase in capability as time goes on as well. Their earliest mobile games used to be supported on 2nd generation iOS devices, then with the upgraded engines 2nd generation devices were no longer supported. Now, they don't support 3rd generation iOS devices, and only 4th generation and higher are supported.

The requirements simply have to go up as the engine is upgraded. The same is true with consoles, as well as with Windows and Mac.

If you try to run their games on a PC, smartphone or tablet that's lower than their present requirements, you'll get slow down, missing graphics, freezes, and lockups among other things, if they run at all.

I honestly think it's not a case of last gen not being able to run it. It's just they don't sell to well on older gen consoles because most
