For me, it's a big news the fricking trailer and the release date for the game.

We know the game will come, we have the title, we have the logo and we have 2 arts (And 1 is the Christmas Card!). With info for me is epic already. I needed so much I can taste it...

(I have done, like 2 fans arts of Sam and Max this week. I need S&M for keep producing. And maybe sane. Mostly)

    (Not really)

So it would make (financial) sense to make another LA sequel to get costumers and $.

I do believe you meant cents.

I wonder if it's anything to do with the pulled news about Sam & Max Season 3 coming out on the PS3?? If it's TellTale releasing their games over the PSN then you have a sale here!

Sam & Max broke up after an argument.

Max became a small undersized stormtrooper that could do damage for a change.
Sam became an attraction at the amusement park on Monkey Island.

IT'S YOUR JOB TO RE-UNITE THEM!
SAM & MAX, SEASON 3: THE DEVIL'S PLAYHOUSE. COMING SOON.

My thoughts: Mac voting extended until Monday to try and push Sam & Max into the lead. Would work nice alongside a season three announcement on the same day.

Anyway, I'll laugh if this big announcment this thread has been hyping is just the results of the Mac revolution poll.

Pies would be good though. Aus/NZ meat pies though, not this 'american' fruit pie thing.

What about meat pies made in London with the help of a certain barber?

    Are you known as Shredder?

Hmm, so it wasn't today (my time, anyways). I'd wager either Tuesday or Wednesday, but I've had zero success with my predictions this year, and with Valve time, Kroms time, and the slippery slope, it'll be Friday. Except not anymore.
  • edited March 2010
it could still be today in my time. though i hope we do get it soon. really, the only information i want right now is the release date. (can you lease give us the releasse date telltale ? pretty please? ill do anything if you do.)

No why? are they plotting his downfall? I hope he is strong? He probably has no army or anything to defend himself, so I hope he is strong.:D:D:D

I've been thinking that it'll be the announcement that pre-ordering games doesn't make a huge amount of sense in online distribution (aside from raising a little capital and gauging interest) since they're not making CDs and boxes at this point, so SURPRISE SAM & MAX IS AVAILABLE TODAY. Obviously today would be whatever day they announce news on. And obviously this is largely optimism.
  • edited March 2010
I think it makes a lot of sense for pre-ordering Sam&Max, since you can play the episode as soon as it come out, and buy it early so you don't have to wait for a paycheck or anthing, you'll have the game. Plus preorders usually come with some kickass things, a forum where it's just the people who pre ordered, so they can ask questions about the development of the game, and you get a disc at the end of the season so, and it's usually a collectors edition DvD, so there is really a point to pre-order.

Okay so... We're on the sixth page, and I have seen no officially unofficial post made by Jake or Will yet.

I guess we didn't disturb them enough. Any suggestions?
  • edited March 2010
Lets all strip naked and send in pictures of us holding copies of Sam and Max, refusing to stop until preorders are up. Ladies first. :D

Heh, "refusing to stop". As if they'd want us to stop.

    They love us.

Shredder controls the Foot Clan, and 4 masked anthropomorphic turtles trained in martial arts frequently beat the heck out of him.

I wasn't saying pre-ordering with online distribution doesn't make sense for the consumer. I'm all about free games, limited edition DVD slipcases and whathaveyou. I was just recently pondering what benefits they reap from pre-orders, and since downloadable games aren't a question of supply and demand (however many people want the product can get it whenever it's available and Telltale doesn't pay for shipping or overproducing the DVDs) I'd say that they'd be most likely to just not announce it 'til it exists. Not that that's very likely at all. I can tell you that logging on and seeing SAM & MAX MARCH 1st 2010 on the front page had me more convinced than ever.

    Interesting interview with Dan Connors:

    http://www.develop-online.net/features/805/Telling-tales-in-short-stories

    Some interesting points:
We have sold close to 1.5 million units so far across our franchises, which is a big number when you look at the economic model that we work with, which is different from the traditional model.
The continued growth of the company indicates success and you're going to see more growth in the year ahead in terms of the size of the franchises and the amount of games that we're doing and the fact that we have multiple, fresh episodes appearing every month.

    What's next?
We're looking to engage more franchises, including those that are more topical and relevant in the current entertainment world.

We want to work with great characters to tell great stories.

So we feel like there's an opportunity to engage new audiences by creating interactive versions of the worlds, characters and stories that they love. That's the big opportunity for us. What should a Da Vinci Code game look like, or The Sopranos? How can you pull those fans into the interactive world?
  • edited March 2010
Futurama, dang it! What could be more topical and relevant in the current entertainment world! Futurama! What better characters and greater stories? Screw Tony Soprano and his interesting dramatic life of crime available for viewing on HBO and A&E!

Cough. Anyway. I love that Telltale is finally going to be getting more franchises, and not just older ones like Monkey Island, although I hope they make more MI and Sam and Max. But the possibilities from television and movie properties are endless. Just dump CSI. Please, for the love of all that is good.

I sense good things in the future. :D

    Wait, multiple episodes every month?

Can't wait to see what they have in store for us. Connors keeps mentioning examples of more serious games in his interviews. I wonder if he's only hoping to do that sometime soon, or if they're already working on a game like that.

Whatever it is, I just hope it honors its name. Used to be "news" meant "new information", not just "old information but with one minor detail you never heard before". Especially when it's preceded by the adjective "big". A completely new franchise would fit the bill, no matter whether it's serious or cartooney (though I prefer the first).
