Don't forget Pat Fraley from Escape! He did a really great job IMO.
This is why we can never be friends.
To me, Stan is sort of the embodiment of everything that was wrong with Escape. I didn't like his voice actor, his lines or his character model. Pretty much everything that could've been wrong with him was wrong with him.

That's because it wasn't him. They had to use a stunt double.
It'll probably be Pat Pinney. The website mentions "Voice overs from the original Monkey Island Cast" and he was the original Stan (and the voice they used in the first SE.)
Yeah, kinda. The new graphics make it look like it's set in some fantasy world. I guess the "it's too clean" curse rears its ugly head once again. I guess I just love the grittiness of the pixelated original graphics.
The ones on the left (not in the screenshot) say Pirates', yes, but this one still said Pirate's.
I can't believe I am the only one worked up about this. Why isn't the LCR fanclub raging at LA?

I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about but Pirates' seems right to me. It's possessive plural, implying that the spit contest is the possession (in grammatical terms) of pirates.

Yeah, this is why I'm confused. That, and Fealiks isn't making shit up.
Is there another sign I'm not looking at? Because Pirates' is the correct grammatical way to say "A spitting contest owned(run by, participated in by, etc) Pirates".
I don't see anything that needs "fixing." Stan's sign in SMI:SE was one thing. This apparent "typo"? Something completely different. What is so important about every little detail that you have to go to such lengths as to "fix" them? It's like you're saying that there must be something wrong with the SE. That's not a very grateful attitude. Not everything has problems that need fixing.
Pirate's is singular possessive. As in "a pirate's spit contest." (meaning "a contest using spit belonging to a pirate" or "a spit contest belonging to a pirate.")
Pirates' is plural possessive. As in "several pirates' spit contest." (meaning "a contest using spit belonging to several pirates" or "a spit contest belonging to several pirates.")
I'm not sure which is more appropriate.
btw. they're talking about the difference between the following classic and SE art. (look at the white banners)
...There's some speculation that the banner on the right in this top screenie says "pirate's" in the classic ver.
Hassat isn't saying they made a mistake, he's saying they FIXED a mistake.
Apparently, that disappoints him greatly.
(Also, "Pirate's spitting context" wouldn't be "spitting contest of a pirate", because the article is missing. It would more likely be the spitting contest of a guy called "Pirate".)

It's pretty common to miss out determiners in things like headings and signs, to save space if nothing else.

Map screens have always been my favourite. One of the very few things in Tales that was not done properly.
spitting contest ahead!

Now I lost all hope for the SE .
FOR SHAME LA! FOR SHAME!
Also, I always read it as "Pirates'" even in the original.

You better be being sarcastic, Hassat Hunter, or I'll have lost all hope for your posts.

Nah, I was, don't worry. If you take the first letter of each word in that post, it spells "Dolphins are birds".

I guess, but in this specific case it just sounds wrong to me for some reason. I would definitely read it as being a guy named Pirate.
i'm still having trouble with the last one:(
Does that mean i'm not a real pirate ?
Well the spit master guy's birth name is actually Pirate Von Fresco
Edit: If I ever have a male kid, I'm definitely calling him Pirate
I hate shops where u cant by most the stuff!
(I was thinking last name)
