I traded my Max set for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I still can't believe people pay that much for hats. One guy even offered either Skyrim OR HR+ a 10$ game, but I had already traded it away. Oh well, I still get to play Human Revolution for free (I don't consider trading virtual items for it to be the same as paying) :P

I'm still waiting for Valve to add 'super genuine, never been traded' status to hats.
  • edited August 2011
And I gave mine away for free. Months ago. I could have kept them but even then the beggars were really annoying.

My advice is to add something like: 'if you dare try and take my max hat from me i will personally find you and kill you' to your steam profile.

I did that after someone kept asking for my max head.
He first just wanted to trade some spare weapons which I was fine with, then he noticed my max's head and wanted that. and kept asking.
    Again
    and again
    and again
    and again
    and again.

To the point that in chat it was always just him begging for the hat and everyone else laughing.

Funnier though was it was in medival mode so he was under the filter. "Hither GMAN thy MAX'S HEAD PLEASETH"

It's more like getting 10 trade invites in a minute in-game because I dared to wear mine.

I'd give my Max head for Skyrim and Rock of Ages.

I've been a monster my whole life. Let's just say that hat made me very happy.

Try to get at least $90 worth of games for the hat. It's worth somewhere between that and $150, depending on who you ask. You'll get a faster offer if you aim lower, because people are always looking for a deal, but $90 is something you can easily wrangle in a couple days.

Attention All Those Who Seek To Buy My Sam and Max Items:

I AM NOT GOING TO TRADE WITH YOU. I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU GIVE ME IN RETURN. GO THE FUCK AWAY.
  • edited August 2011
I'll probably trade away my Sam and Max items that I have for some reason. It's not like I play TF2 anyway.

If you're trading for Steam games, be sure to use the beta trading system to do it. The SourceOP TF2 forums are a pretty good place to look for trades, as is the SteamGameSwap subreddit or the TF2 trading subreddit.

I play TF2, but me losing my sam and max gear, but earning a lot of games in return does sound nice:D

Yeah, getting games for a hat that I'm never going to use sounds like a pretty good idea, right now. Though, I almost feel guilty since I'd be getting something for essentially nothing.

Well, I hate playing spy, so I traded my Big Kill for HL2 and a literal pile of other weps. All for a reskin starter weapon. I'd say that's a success.

I wonder if TellTale ever though their promo item would become one of the rarest things sought after by TF2 Collectors!

...Probably not, considering there was no trading system in place at the time.

I have to congratulate valve on this latest update.
    "fixed a rare crash"

They actually didnt fix a rare crash, as they did make it an extreamly common crash.

So for once they have literaly broken the game.

Actually, what happened to the old telltale server. We could wear our Max hats in peace and freely blast each other with lugers without anyone begging us for them. Plus, Jake gave away sparkly Max heads and I never got one... :(

This is the fifth time, since I've played TF2, that they've done this. Give them about a week or three. It'll be gone.

Its already patched, but this patch apparantly added some new glitch that is also pretty common.
Valve are the only people that have to patch a patch that was meant to patch a different patch.

It wasn't too popular even then. That changed once the Max hats became paintable. Then there was an actual demand for them.

No when trading happened I was getting offers out the ass for my Max's hat. At first everyone raged if you wore a Max's head but now they all try to buy it out from you.

    New Deus Ex gear.
Mainly accesorys and crap, but there is also
1 new sniper rifle with new stats
1 new spy gun with new stats
    and....
    wait for it
2 NEW ENGINEER ITEMS WITH NEW STATS!!!!!!!
    Finaly!
If you have preordered the new deus ex game on steam, then check your backpack, you have all the items, if not, get some metal and lets get crafting/random drops.:D
  • edited August 2011
BS new engine weapons? Reason I stopped playing was because my favorite class got no love.
  • edited August 2011
    Both are kinda crappy though.
  • edited August 2011
Question: if someone gifts you Deus Ex, do you still get the weapons? Considering trading my Max hat for some games.

I'd imagine so, it's still gonna be on your games-list before launch, when I gifted peeps other games they got the promo items.

Wee bit rippin' I pre-ordered a digital copy from a third party, saved a cool £10 though. I'll trade or craft the items eventually :)

I havent played TF2 yet(dont have my laptop on me), but I can already tell the new shotgun is crap, but the other engi item looks BA. I hope its ok in gameplay.

I must see what the engi looks like with that new weapon, the gunslinger, and the pipboy.

It's cool I'm done with TF2. Game is trash now.

How is the game any different than before?
  • edited August 2011
New weapons get released with what seems to be minimal play testing and balancing. Now you have classes able to do the job of other classes which makes some classes useless in certain situations. The new weapons seem to encourage no more teamplay in a team based FPS.
Also the game is nothing but a giant fucking advertisment and they don't fix a lot of problems with the game. They instead make more hats.
  • edited August 2011
Ok. I am in desperate need of a gunslinger. I want to at least test out one of the new engi weapons, but I cant seem to get one to drop/trade for one.
If anyone has a gunslinger, invite me to a steam trade(since it can do TF2 items for TF2 items)

I have a le'tranger, a backscratcher, and some metal I could trade for it.

*NOTE*I am not giving you all of that for the gunslinger, just one

I'm actually very interested in that Sniper Rifle, I rarely fire un-scoped, so trading that in for 15% more Damage and Bullet Penetration seems like a huge plus.

I like how this thread has become 'We all invested in these items, and the stocks have gone up up up! Sell!"
