How long did that take?! There's no way I'd be able to get such consistency with the perspective. Well done.

Uh, could you help me get one of those books off the top shelf?

I guess two days (70% complaining and 10% working. 20% hearing the new soundwoofer *.*)

Er... It's someone with the flag of Texas threatening Guybrush and Elaine?

Does it have anything to do with the fact people have survived August?
  • edited September 2010
No, it's not the Flag of Texas... And Guybrush is there just because he's a pirate.
  • edited September 2010
Ah, sorry about that. I guess I don't know my flags very well. Then again it is kind of similar.
I know what this drawing is now. It's a bit early! :p

There's two legends about it: There's one, in certain part in Texas, someone put the Chilean Flag instead of the Texas's Flag and nobody noticed until a week. The other one was the USA Embasy in Chile, while our National Festivities, put the Texas Flag instead of the Chilean Flag during those days, and they noticed when that appeared on TV.

You're mistaking a pile of rocks for Elaine.

    Common mistake to make!

So did I at least get the "threatening" part right or was I wrong about absolutely everything? :p

    The threatening part is right.

That happened one day I came back from celebrating my National Festivities to the Internet and then I read "Happy Talk like a Pirate Day!" and I wanted to kill some pirates. I like the concept of the day, I found that funny, but the day they choose collide with my National sensitivities. But people can Talk like a Pirate all they want, I just wanted to draw this ^^!

Here's my demo reel character who has stuck by me (and changed design) for years and is to this day continuing to save my life on project deadlines because of her very easy-to-animate limbs.

That's awesome! Does he/she know that their hand is on fire, though?
  • edited September 2010
She has powers and can produce fire. (convenient for a project where I had to animate a character interacting with actual fire)

    GET IT? FIRE FOX?

    HA HA HA

    HA

Actually, the concept is based more on that the Red Panda is commonly known as the Fire Fox, but the browser might have based it on the Red Panda itself, so it's all good.

So what you're saying is, your character is actually a piece of social commentary on the materialistic instincts and assumptions of modern man and woman in stark contrast to the simplicity and beauty of the animal kingdom and, indeed, the natural world?

I always use either photographs or sketches as a base (or sometimes a hybrid of both).

Ah, I thought that might have been the case. I doubted that those could have been produced from nothing. Either way, though, they are very nice.

Probably used Illustrator over it, worked in layers.

I'd call those illustrations before I did drawings. :p

    Thanks for sharing.

Only you would understand my inner torment that I express through cute, happy animals, that produce fire Fealiks. *sniff*

Is there an actual difference between an illustration and a drawing?

I don't very much like the word illustration, it sounds too professional and I'm modest about my little creations.
  • edited September 2010
Yeah a fully fleshed out drawing is still an illustration. I refer to works done in illustrator or flash as "vector art." Your works are still illustrations though.
  • edited September 2010
If it illustrates something, it's an illustration. YMMV, I guess.

What can I say? I'm deep.

I would have two clay things to show you guys, but one broke and I royally screwed up on the other one.

It would be Max's head (broke) and the Black Mesa logo (epic fail)

You're not a professional? I was under the impression that you were. You have good work there.
