I disagree, I feel that Don Bluth is way overrated. You're probably right about Disney, but I wouldn't say they're consistently overrated. Every once in a while they do put out something that lives up to the Disney hype, even if you don't count Pixar.

Okay well An American Tail is my favorite movie of all time, that nothing can knock off the ladder no matter what it is, so my opinion's not gonna change. Just saying. And I never ever hear anyone praise that movie besides me. Ever. Even on the An American Tail IMDB forums nobody ever calls it a masterpiece, or even really amazing. I mean, am I the only one who sees the amazing things in this film? From what I've seen its very underrated, and even forgotten. No one talks about it anymore (except nerds like me on the internet). I don't get why people don't like it.

Like you said, it's a matter of opinion, just like the rest of this thread. And to be fair, your opinion is probably more well-founded than mine. I've only had a few opportunities to watch An American Tail, though for some odd reason I own a copy of Fivel Goes West (though that has nothing to do with anything, since Bluth wasn't involved in that). Add some overexposure to Thumbelina and A Troll in Central Park (because I had one of those little sisters who will pick one movie and watch it repeatedly) and the fact that the man was responsible for starting the Land Before Time series, and I end up with a pretty poor opinion of Don Bluth.

Hey I can't argue against a Troll in Central Park. That movie is AWFUL.

An American Tail (the first one) was excellent.
A Land Before Time (the first one) was great.

The shovelware sequels that came from these movies all suck. Really. Hard.

I could go on for a long time about how stupid the A Land Before Time sequels are, like how the first movie in fact had zero musical numbers in it and why it's retarded to dumb down the sequel(s) to a good movie or make them into musicals.
